The battery has been checked and it came up ok only needs charging (was at 54%). When the alternator went it was completely dead, even the central locking was not working. Tested the battery last night and it was at 12v same this afternoon so hopefully that is it sorted. Keeping an eye on though. Cheers for the answers and advice. stuart

Are the 3dr and 5dr the same size cause i am afetr the MSdesign bodykit and the seller says it is for 3dr only? I thought it was just the position and size of doors that was different.

Would the Light in the glove box drain the battery. The car has only moved about 5ft in 3 days and have discovered that the light in the glove box was not switching of when the box was closed? stu

Have any MK2 owners had any issues with the car losing battery power. I went out to start the car this morning and nothing completly dead. Breakdown service managed to jump start her and said something must be draining the battery. i recently had to change the alternator cause it had died. Does anyone know what could be dischagring the battery. i have checked everything and nothing is getting left on. stuart

I have noticed when i set the alarm on the car the center of the instrument cluster and the clock on the radio remain illuminated for quite a while. Is there any way that you can adjust the time that these stay on for as surely they must be drawing some power from the battery? stuart

I have just done a test on my car after having had a dead alternator changed. A notice came up on the display saying "Power assist steering failure" During the DTC test it came up with the same 5 codes as above and also another 3 9602 E197 E510 Does anyone know what these mean or how to remove and if they are related to the other problems mentioned? stuart

Does anyone know if there was a lower grill available for the MK2 to replace the plactic coloured ba that goes across? When i say rrplace i mean to go in front of the coloured bit. stuart

Went a wee run today to Dumfries to get some new toggs for a wedding on saturday night. Run was goin to be roughly a round trip of 90 miles total. Jumped into th car this morning and it was making a funny whining noise from the front. ABS light was flashing when i turned corners so presumed that the noise was something to do with that. Went back to my car after getting my new toggs and went to start the car and nothing, not a sausage car was completly drained of electricity. Not even the lights in the passenger footwell. Not to pleased i phoned the breakdown service who jump started the car an

From what i have read on here 38 is the lowest you can go. I am fiting a set of 18 inch alloys with an offset of 40 so hope they will be ok. What width are the wheels you are looking at? As for tyres i have seen anything from £64 per tyre for budgets to £140 for Pirelli tyres. I personally will be going for a set of khumos at £70 per tyre that including fitting etc etc.

I have just got a quote back from Pumaspeed for £1329 for a 4-2-1 manifold, high flow cat and cat back exhaust. This i fitted and includes vat. Do we get club discount at pumaspeed cause i am seriouly thinking about this?

HI. Does anyone know if you can get a connector for your i-pod other than the jack plug connector. I have a MK2 with the Sony 6 disc stereo and when i was looking at the finis code in Tezzas section noticed a code for the mk 2.5. Would this fit or is it a different connection at the back? stuart

I have the same sort of thing with my car. It is a 2lt petrol. I just thought it was a common problem with the car that we had to live with :( :(

I am looking at tyres for the wheels that i have just bought. First off they are 18 inch by 8j alloys with a et 40 offset. The car has been lowered on eibachs 30mm. My queery is does anyone else have this sort of setup with that size of alloy and if so do they have aby issues with rubbing etc? Probably going to fit 225/40s to the tyres!!!!!! If anyone has any pictures with the above setup it would be most welcome. stu

HI. I tried to find any info but just got confused. I took a risk and bought a set of alloys from E-bay with the intension of getting them refurbished and was not that bothered about condition. Now they are 17 x 7J alloy wheels with an offset of 38. How will this effect the car if at all? Going to be fitting either 205 or 215 by 45 tyres at some point. Does anyone else have this fittment on their car. stu
