  1. Oooops, guess what happened today whilst my car was parked on my drive?? Unbelievable I know, but a Boeing 747 was flying overhead and it's engine fell off and landed on my windscreen. How inconvenient!! And to make matter much worse, my insurance company have agreed to replace the windscreen (but they didn't mention anything about collecting the Boeing engine for Accident Investigators to check over). And to add further insult to injury, my friendly local windscreen company contacted me, but they have since accidently ordered me the windscreen from a Titanium with all the whistles and
  2. You could just use sandpaper to scratch it all over, then claim it's one of those new trendy matt colours seen on Pimp-My-Ride on TV - you'll even get more for your car!!
  3. ...is that a little strip of bling'd up chrome I can see on your photo?? 8) PS - I like the starter button, and I also like the twin auxillary socket set up you have there. Can you run your house lighting from the car??
  4. I'm not ugly enough for Top Gear. And I don't get back-handers from Jaguar. But if you're reading this Mr Jaguar Chairman, my number is.....
  5. I was born naturally very thick, so can't help wondering if you still need to use your key for the ignition? Or can someone just nick it without the key
  6. Eh up, I've been out with the wire cutters and stanley knife again, and this time cut two holes in my headlining to accommodate yet more interior lights (see pics), just above the sunvisors. They came of a wrecked Focus Titanium for £8 (hope it wasn't yours - but if it was, cheers!) I think they look great and they're a doddle to fit. It's just a shame I'm a bloke and I'll never use 'em   [web]http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=0a50fxKPiPofGiQPNj0LkTsYwWB*lqOoYUydv4xQp5Fd3Ig=&size=m[/web] [web]http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=0a50fxKPiPofGiQPNj0LkTsYwfYnyxLb2ZcLv4xQp5
  7. An MP3 connector will NOT fit all CD6000 units. I've had to change my CD6000 unit to accommodate an ipod. The unit I had was a CD6000 with a 'CDDJ' button, but you need the CD6000 with the 'AUX' button. If yours has the AUX button (second button down on the top left of the unit) it should be fine, if not, you'll need to buy a VW Golf GTi   See the link below, which was inspired by a fruit cake FFOC member called GARCK... http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... c&t=149761
  8. Matey - if I can do it without turning my car into a bucket of melted metal, then any granny could do it at the same time as dipping her teeth in limescale remover and knitting a multi-coloured scalf! It fitted like a hand covered in butter then squeezed into a marigold (don't knock it 'til you've tried it!). Simply take the old one out, and plug the new one in - no wiring mods needed! Easy peasy! Don't be shy, you know you want to...
  9. Try again lads! Scroll back to the original message and let me know if it's worked this time??
  10. Eh?? Is it not working?? I'll try again... AARRGGHHHHH
  11. Cheers Tony - That looks good to me - I can see myself copying that!. I've even been offered obscene amounts of money by Cosmopolitan and Vogue magazines for your pics!
  12. Good man! The choice is simple: Ex-bird, or Ex-car??. I know which I'm selling and which I'm keeping (and if you need a clue, the one I'm keeping wears boots made by Goodyear, not Anne Summers
  13. S8N - Matey, if my girlfriend reads your comments, she'll instantly think I'm a liar and she can drive better than Schuey on steroids. I've had to blame the gearbox crunching on her (for reasons of scientic purposes obviously). And I'm trying to educate her that driving at warp-factor 9 in high heels bigger than the Blackpool Tower will only result in her owing me £50 a week for the rest of her life to cover damage costs
  14. I spend minutes taking my car to bits, then spend weeks trying to put it all back together again  - Once you removed the glovebox, carpets and clip-on dash panel trims, you'll be expert enough to re-fit engines in Boeing 747's :P PS - Just let me know which Boeing you're working on so I can cancel my holiday
  15. When I first got mine, it sometimes crunched when it went into reverse, but now my girlfriend has driven it a few times and ground all the teeth off the gearbox, it's as sweet as a sugar coated jaffa cake!
  16. Yorkie - when I did 56mph to see what I could squeeze out of my bang bus, I got so bored that I started reading the garage telephone numbers on the bottom of passing number plates, and started eating my own hair for company!! :P I don't know about your car, but mine seems at it's best and most relaxing at between 85-90mph (in Germany on the autobahn of course, Officer), where it runs smoother than a new recruit in a swedish bedsit!
  17. Thanks Tony - I'm keen to see where your wire disappears so I can steal your idea and flog it on ebay for mi££ions
  18. Must admit Tony, I'm seriously thinking about wiring mine in too. It does finish the job off well. Where does your wire disappear to (ie, behind the steering coloumn)?? :?: :?:
  19. How pants is that!!! That's as daft as saying that a Dentist can't take your teeth out because he's not in charge of your gums, and the doctor can't do it because teeth are ceramic so you need to visit Tiles-R-Us
  20. DALE - From the back of the headlight switch, you can access both ignition live or permanent live wiring. So you can tell your sparky to wire it in so there is constant power (which could drain the battery long term), or ignition power (which will switch the unit off when the ignition key is removed - possibily the better option). And if it blows up, My real name is Bob Upandown, and I live in the Artic circle, somewhere.
  21. Not sure if you can read the trip computer clearly, but I've taken some phone pics anyway. The 1st pic was my average after travelling approx 125 miles at a steady 60mph. You can't really see it on the pic, but the fuel gauge was showing just under full after 125 miles. The 2nd pic is when I got bored and dropped my speed (and will to live) to a steady 56mph (yawn). In fairness though, I only ever get 60mpg when I drive like a pensioner on the way back from a closed post office   [web]http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=0a50fxKPiPofGiQPNj0LkTsYwT92r7JDv64ev4xQp5Fd3Ig=&si
