  1. Yep my Escort one failed, as i was not using it enough. Focus manual stipulates usage for at least 30mins per month.
  2. Yeah i got 1 key stuck the wrong way in my Ghia.......ended up losing the plot and ripped it out......fortunately nothing was damaged, but the keys are wafer thin, and its like pulling on cheese wire!! i too have the steering controls working.....quite easy to set up with the right leads.
  3. the drive thru car washes make the car look good and my local now has a tire dressing section as you exit -- but i have not used it with my new focus, as i do not want the bodywork scratched. in the winter (now) i usually use the local jet wash, and wash it by hand any other time.
  4. It's the Ti-VCT.... phew....ok then, so its normal then..... what about the gear stick squeaking noise???
  5. I get creaking if the car has been sitting for a while, or at low speed/heavy braking.....had car 7 weeks and 05 plate, i assume its the same issue that many have had with the tie rods and wrong lubricant applied at factory. i assume its a warranty repair that can be done?? question is do I really want Arny Clark to do this work, they don't exactly have a good track record in this area?
  6. I have notice recently on my newish 05 Focus Ghia 1.6 that my fuel seems to be used up faster, MPG on the EDU is dropping like a stone. Had the car 7 weeks, gone from 36.5mpg to 32.1mpg. In 4th gear, 40mph has its at almost 2500rpm, at 60mph in 5th, its over 3000rpm, and at 75mph in 5th its 3500rpm......i am of course comparing this to my last car, 98 Escort Ghia 1,6 (with some of its horses retired!!). I'm not a heavy/hard driver, always keep it in the highest gear and do a lot fo city driving, to and from work (industrial estate near airport), so a lot of time is spent each in traffic,
  7. Okay just been to the local Ford Parts Centre in Aberdeen. Finis 1318024 does NOT fit a 2005 Focus Ghia alloys -- well didn't fit mine. The cone part inner clip is too shallow. The actual £12.52 inc vat part is 1317880, its the complete alloy plate and Ford center cap logo -- pity as all i lost was the blue logo, but its a cheap enough part. Let's hope i don't lose any more.
  8. I have been finding i get a weird metal squeak like it need lubricant, if i have been in 3rd for a short while and then move to 4th. doesn't do it every time, but sometimes. anyone else have this???
  9. Could be a loose aerial connection either from the aerial on the roof, or the cable connection in the back of the stereo. You will need the 4 security keys to be able to remove the 6000CD head unit. I got mine from here, when re-fitting my JVC MP3 CD player from my Escort. http://www.siocommunications.co.uk/Shop ... ct=PC5-132
  10. Since last Friday's torrential rain storm in NE Scotland, i was involved in some amount of driving around Aberdeen, being the good designated driver that i was. I ended up going through at least 8 deep water hazards on the roads that night. Following morning, i noticed 2 Ford alloy centre caps missing, the glue still on the dials, and nothing around the car. I can only assume, water got in behind them and they came off while under water. So my poor 05 Ghia is looking a bit naked to say the least, so before you go and pester the usual suspects at the dealership, i need to know if they can
  11. Mine comes on too, automatically when you have fan speed set to 2 or above, with the direction dial set NORTH, to screen only. It's a feature apparently of the rapid de-mist function.
  12. I am assuming that everyone is the same on this. I have had my 05 Ghia for 6 weeks, and already its dropped from 36 to 32.5, but i do spend a lot of time in traffic to and from work - 5 days a week.
