  1. You've never watched "Pimp my ride" ?!!! Actually neither have I, I've just seen a trailer. His site gives you the .... erm.... flavour: http://www.timwestwood.com/
  2. I think we've had a bit of a moan about pitting in the chromework / badges before. Yours is about 18 months old, is that right ? I seem to remember problems emerging at about that age on other C-Maxes. I'm sure ucsman will tell us the warranty position, if we ask him very nicely.
  3. So that'll be another £10 for a set of pins to get the radio out ! http://www.siocommunications.co.uk/Shop ... ct=PC5-132
  4. Tesscott Did you get to find out whether there is a genuine acknowledged problem with wind noise round windscreen ? I find my new one is just the same as the old one: not as quiet as a Mondeo, but marginally quieter than a Galaxy. Makes sense really, when you look at the aerodynamic profile of each vehicle.
  5. Picked up my new Max last week, it had exactly the same wind noise problem but on the corresponding seal on the passenger side. Stopped at first garage after showroom, spent 79p on roll of electrical insulating tape, bingo ! First problem fixed within 30 minutes of picking up car.
  6. Made my first mod to my new motor - time taken 10 minutes - cost £1 - technical difficulty : moderate - bling factor : nil. I undid the two front torx bolts holding the driver's seat frame to the floor, slipped a few washers between the frame and the floor and replaced the bolts (down through the washers). This raises the front of the seat up without raising the rear, which gives better leg support and makes it more comfortable for six-footers and over, like me. It was more worthwhile on my new car, which has 6-way electric adjustment and the base doesn't seem to go quite as low / as recli
  7. I'd do dipped first. The times I could do with better light tend to be when I can't use full beam, with other cars around. Lights tend to be on dipped 90% of the time on our busy roads anyway.
  8. Option 7: genuine Bosch replacements (complete) £26.99 from http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/produc ... 691&page=1
  9. 1955, If you've done some work on NVH, can you tell us why Ford didn't put any noise insulation over the rear wheel arches ?! Have just slapped two coats of "brown bread" over them, then a layer of carpet (all under the plastic trim), to great effect (notes to follow when I get chance).
  10. I can just about see where the loom comes through on the inside (if I rip a fuse array out of the way and hang with my head upside down in the passenger footwell), but can't see it from the engine bay. Unfortunately I need to start from the engine bay side. Do I need to take the battery out or anything drastic like that ?!
  11. Yep, replaced the bulbs on my previous Max. Dipped are H7, full beam are H1. 5 minute job each side,as long as it's daylight and not raining !
  12. I've scratched the itch by buying this month's "Fast Car", which comes with 2 little blue LED strips. Not sure where to put them yet.
  13. I need to get a very chunky power lead through the bulkhead, from the battery to underneath the front seats (installing serious ICE). Anyone found a good spot to pop wiring through ? Also looking for a good earthing point just behind the front seats.
  14. You've got the modifying munchies pretty bad, haven't you ?! I'd leave the badges alone if it were me. I don't think they're so out of place as to spoil the car's looks (and a Panther Black Ghia on machined 17s is definitely good looking).
  15. Lower it, chip it, wrap some Toyo Proxes round each rim and tell them to bring it on !
  16. Don't forget though - current Mondeo is nearing the end of its life, which is always the time when Ford go mad and chrome everything in sight (2004 Galaxy facelift another example). I'd imagine Mondeo will evolve to become closer to C-Max rather than other way round. But that could all be bol**cks !
  17. - The fact that you can put your foot down at 30 in 4th and just ride the wave up past 100
  18. It's a tint in the glass itself, I think. It's a greenish blue tint on mine.
  19. My left rear seat squeaks if driving over anything but a smooth surface. I'm sure someone on here had a similar problem and fixed it, but I can't find the thread. Any takers ? I also had a rattle from the seat belt holder at the top of the B pillar, but that turned out to be the plastic cover piece (that you pull down on to lower the belt height) vibrating against the piece of plastic trim behind it. I wedged it with a bit of paper and the noise disappeared. I'll cure it properly with a bit of adhesive backed felt at some point.
  20. I think the photo's genuine: there are similar pics in the latest Auto Express and Autocar, IIRC. Can't say it's an improvement: the exterior was pretty much spot on anyway: much better than the new Focus hatch, though maybe a score draw with the estate. What I'd like to know is - have they improved the door cards ? I'm seriously thinking about getting someone to make some black leather coverings for my door cards (just the recessed bit above the armrest), to match the seats, and make the doors look less cheap and nasty.
  21. TDCIGHIA / CharlieR, Are you still pleased with the Eibach springs ? I'm thinking of getting my new Max done. Anyone else had it done since ?
  22. Have now traded in the old car: anyone with an LX or Zetec spec car want a set of Galaxy repeater bulbs and lenses ? Free to the first regular poster to PM me their address. Full report on new car to follow soon....
  23. Dennis Are you running a sub / using the high pass filter on the amp to cut the bass to the door speakers ? I wonder whether that would sound ok-ish, cos replacing the door speakers seems a pig of a job to me: the original speakers are on massive raised mouldings, riveted into the doors. I've got some £280 JL Audio component speakers coming out of another car (and a JL Audio amp and sub and an Alpine head unit), but I'm not sure I've got the time or patience to fit them. It's like someone at Ford said "How can we make life as difficult as possible for anyone upgrading the car audio ? Why d
  24. Black. Went for leather because it smells nice and you can wipe children's chocolate / snot / sick off it easily. One day I'll have an A8 with truly decent leather seats in it !
