  1. Completely agree with Rob hard. Overall I'm completely happy with our two c-maxes. Positives far outway the negatives. In our extended family there are 4 x 1.6 tdci maxes which have covered approx 190k miles between them. Only one of the cars has broken down and even then I was able to drive it to the dealers although it did take a while to track the problem down, which was traced to the EGR valve which has now been redesigned. Compare this to our previous 2 cars a Audi TT & Audi A2 and both of these broke down and had to be towed to the dealers or were fixed at the road side, both cars
  2. Both ours passed ok at 30k and 50k
  3. Maybe best if we post photos of said smoke to compare.
  4. Both our C-Maxs do this, my fathers and my father in laws who all have diesel c-maxes also, so I wouldn't worry. It's straight after it's been started for a split second. Probably just some a bit of fuel left in from when the engine was shut down which doesn't get fully burnt.
  5. You're right there is steel under the plastic. Like I say, I'd get Ford to sot that out.
  6. You're probably right, I just thought as it was added as part of the face lift and not the original design it may be retro fitted. I'll ask the dealer for what it's worth.
  7. Best of both worlds, that's just what i'm looking for !
  8. Thanks for the pic. I thought exactly the same as you nosbod, when I noticed this on our car last year. But if you look closer that cross member is made from a hard plastic, the same as the top cross member. I don't know where the rusty looking deposits come from but they settle on that cross member. I just wiped them off and sprayed with wd40 and they haven't returned. I would be more worried if the main struts were rusting.
  9. Yes, thanks Andy, makes perfect sense, wonder if the new LED cluster has a voltage regulator built in?
  10. Does anyone know if the new LED rear light clusters will fit the pre-face lift cars?
  11. Well it's called the Kuga but it's essentially a C-Max 4x4 http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/ms_f07/ms_f07_ ... -/-/982531
  12. do you mean the cross member under the headlights that is paralell to the bumper, made up of a criss cross structure?
  13. It doesn't make any difference what date the car is booked in. Just as long as the fault has been reported before the warranty expired.
  14. The Ford Perforation Warranty covers the body shell against rust-through from the inside. What's the definition of Body Shell? Can you post a pic of the rust, so I know where to look? Just had a look at mine, do you mean the cross member under the headlights that is paralell to the bumper, made up of a criss cross structure?
  15. I would take the offer. Most waranties only cover perforation not surface rust.
  16. Thats interesting. I'll print that out and take it to the Ford dealer, because I know that the 1.6 tdci has the MTX-75 gearbox, although it has been modified for the C-max, I can't imagine they would remove the drain plug. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for the info.
  17. We have two identical diesel c-maxes. One has a silky smooth gearbox, the other is often dificult to engage 1st if the car is not at a standstill, and 2nd to 3rd is dificult when cold. I would like to try changing the gear oil, but have been told that this is not possible as it would require the gearbox to be removed first.
  18. does anyone know how easy is it to change the gear box oil? I've been told that the gear box is sealed for the life of the car. And to change the oil would need the gearbox removed.
  19. Fair enough, thanks. What are the different calibrations for. A while back Mastertec (a ford master techinician) posted that CD43 was the lastest version for the 1.6TDCI.
  20. Does anyone know the latest software version and when it came out for the 1.6 TDCI ? Thanks
  21. Get them to check the software version, i'm sure there was a fix for the battery not charging, I seem to think this only at certain cold temps though. Worth checking, I presume they have actually checked the battery? We've taken out warranties on our 2 maxes with the company below to be on the safe side. http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/index.html?wd=1
  22. Good for you smokemate, i'd have done exactly the same only much earlier, I think you were more than patient with the dealer, I hope they've given you something for all you inconvenience.
  23. You only need to use the new "top tether" if your car is fitted with one. Otherwise you can still use the standard ISOFIX seats. The Britax ISOFIX seats we bought can be used in any car with a seat belt or on the ISOFIX bases in the wifes car, the best of both worlds. It also has a support leg which is instead of a top tether. I trust Britax as they have extremely sophisticated testing equipment and were the first to be awarded 4 stars by NCAP which was in a C-Max. http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=112864 What I liked about the ISOFIX was that it prevents misfitting. AA sur
  24. Lippo, Which companies have you been looking at, I've not seen any as low as £189 for a remap. I previously had 3 cars remaped, Audi TT, Audi A2, Seat Leon Cupra, never had a problem with any of them. I'll give the Millers a try.
