  1. Cheers guys, now I know what to look for !! I'll report back and let you know if there's any improvment.
  2. GhitTiVCT, Thanks for the suggestion. I had the Sevice Forman on the phone again today to tell me that the replacement door seals are on back order and may take a couple of weeks to come in. I asked him if was simply going to be a case of replacing like with like and he said that he thought the replacement seals are a softer compound rubber??? I'll take a trip to Halfarts or Charlie's and see if I can get any dry lube. I know that WD40 is oil based, is this stuff silicone based??? Cheers Geoff
  3. Car was back into the Dealer yesterday for the work to be carried out. * Replaced front disk and pads - fantastic, no wobble. * Replaced front tie rods and steering linkage - seems quieter, no knocking sounds so far although the steering wheel is now not straight !! * Lubricated rear anti roll bar bushes - no difference what so ever. Phone call from Service Department today to ask me if everything was ok as they "forgot" to road test the car before they released it to me !! I called into the dealership and a Service Forman came out with me and he agreed that the creak from the rear n
  4. Had the car back to the dealer today after raising hell about the poor quality service etc, etc and a Foreman drove my car and within 10 mins had diagnosed the following: faulty tie rods at the front (knocking sound I'd reported) dry rear suspension bush (creaking sound from the rear) warped front brake disks (steering wheel vibration) The software update has seemed to have worked in so much as the idle is more stable now (I just hope it hasn't killed my MPG??) It's going back in, in a couple of weeks time to have the work done - I'll report back then.
  5. I've noticed this as well. Whenever I fill the washer bottle up (which seems to be about once a week) there is a green puddle on the ground afterwards (Halfords screenwash). Is it me, or is the washer bottle smaller that the mk1 ?? or does it all just leak out??
  6. Hi, I've read quite a bit on this forum about problems with door seals and wonder if I have the same problem?? Mine is a 55 plate 2.0 TDCI Zetec Climate in Tonic and I've noticed a creaking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when I reverse off my drive or when I drive onto the footpath to park the car. It "seems" to be coming from the rear N/S door area, but it's difficult to pin it down. What should i be checking for if it is the door seals, and if it's not, does anyone have any ideas what it could be?? The car has been in for it's 12,500 mile service today and I asked them to
  7. My 2.0 TDCI is on 11,500 miles now and I've kept a record of fuel consumption from new. It's best has been 55 and it's worst has been 36. Over the 11,500 miles it has averaged 45 mpg. I do a lot of motorway driving and I'm happy to sit at 65-70mph. At this sort of speed, I've seen 67mpg on the fuel computer but it's hopelessly optimistic. My previous Mk1.5 TDCI (1.8 - 115bhp) only managed about 39mpg average. I'd be interested in any news on a software update as mine is due a service soon.
  8. "water does not reach on time, so on the first swoop the wiper blades have to do it on a dry surface" I've noticed this as well !! Also, does anyone think that the mkII has the smallest washer bottle in the world !! I seem to be filling mine up FAR more often than I did with my mkI??
  9. This really bugs me. Every time it rains and I open the boot to get stuff out, the water pours into the boot and soaks everything :(
  10. Andre, I've got 6,500 miles on mine now and the engine is still lumpy at idle. I will be making an issue of this at the first service. I've not experienced any engine hesitation, but I do think that my MPG has got worse since the weather got cold?? I can't beleive that you're the only one with this problem. If it was something wrong with your car, the dealer should be able to fix it. To me is sounds like it's more to do with engine management issues and if so I would have thought it would affect more cars?? Keep us updated on preogress, I want to be well armed when mine goes in for
  11. I had a drive of an ST2 today when I went to the dealer to pick my TDCI up from the body shop. It was amazing, I was well impressed with the ride quality and of course the performance. The one I was in whistled; my 2.0 TDCI does the same so I guess I never really noticed it that much. I don't think I would ever put the radio on - I really enjoyed the engine note. I liked the way it pops and bangs on the over run when you rev it :D Pipe dream I'm afraid - for the miles I drive, 20mpg (which was showing on the fuel computer) would be no good !!!
  12. when I put mine in the garage last thing at night, I have to sit on the drive with the engine running for a few minutes just so I can clear the screen enough to see!! Having said that, my mk 1.5 tdci was exactly the same in the winter. danny30uk - it REALLY bugs me that when yo open the boot, all the water off the rear screen ends up in the boot
  13. my zetec climate has options to change the steering setup. I think it's something like "comfort", "normal" and "sport". Never tried them, any one else??
  14. Dennis, they make a streak like there's a nick in the blade, but there isn't. Can fit "old fashioned" blades??
