  1. Are you swapping out a standard Ford head unit for a Sony one? Where did you get your new head unit from? If it came from Ford as a new part then it will install in your car without any issues. If it has come from a dubious source or from another car (right off) then you may need to get the stereo re-programmed before it will work in your car. The reason for this is that each stereo "should" be programmed with the vehicle's VIN number (can only be done with the diagnostics kit) and when done it will prevent the unit being used in any other vehicle. This should be done at the factory if fitted
  2. I think that may be a bit rigid. The gap between the lower edge of the window and the boot is quite tight and whatever squeezes between this needs to be able to expand after passing this bottleneck. Also the gap behind this is not round so it has to cope with this too. Something like this was what I was thinking of but this company seems to be a large scale supplier. http://www.silex.co.uk/Silex_FrSet.htm
  3. Although there seems to be much chat about the new Focus' various design "features", one of these is starting to get a little annoying in this damp/wet weather. I am sure all of you have noticed that if you open your hatchback boot quickly in wet weather a river of water poors from the door and all over your boot? This water collects in the gap between the lower rear window and the boot lid and only wants to drain when you start lifting the boot lid. If you do this slowly then the water does drain away without entering the boot but if it is raining hard you don't want to open the boot slowly
  4. If that is not it then there is a second hi-fi fuse which is something like 83 (bottom row three in from the right) It is a 10amp fuse. This certainly disables the underseat autochanger but may also reset the bluetooth phone kit.
  5. It is part of the ghia and titanium 5dr spec (not 3dr). You can also have it as an option on the 5dr ST. It is called global closing. If you have it then you will have electric windows all around, one touch up and down on all windows and anti-finger-trap sensors. The 3dr only has one touch down on the drivers window.
  6. Not available as yet. Haynes manuals will not be out for another year or so.
  7. When I test drove the Focus I thought the rear wiper was a bit pointless but the one on the ST seems ok so not going to bother changing it.
  8. Should give you all you need to know.
  9. What model type do you have and does it have a trip computer? On the ST there is a warning chime setting in the personal settings of the trip computer. This disables everything apart from the above 13mph seat belt warning.
  10. On the ST the rear light is pretty much identical to the front light. Only difference is that there are no map lights and no submarine lighting. It has a white lense cover and black border to match the roof lining. I would assume the ghia is the same as this but with a grey surround to match the lighter roof lining.
  11. Aye my ST is showing 24mpg but it is in fact 25.4. Apparently the on-board calc is worked out using the last 600miles. Not sure how it works out what fuel is used but reckon this is where the inaccuracies occur.
  12. What was the shape of the rear light in the original focus? Mine looks like the front light fitted to the LX (i.e. no map lights and the like)
  13. Was that the sports mats you ordered? So you got four of them then? Are they as described in the main post i.e. Black with gray piping?
  14. I guess you ordered the car with Bluetooth? Apparently they are fitting the vis pack to get bluetooth cars built.
  15. I have updated the main post as Ford have now refreshed the spec list on their website......there still seems to be one or two errors but that was always going to be the case ;). The brochures have not been refreshed as yet so are still quite wrong. Anyone wondering, yes the car configurator for the Focus has been switched off as I guess they are refreshing the data on this in line with the new specs.
  16. They have updated the Focus spec sheet today and I guess they have yet to update the focus configurator so have probably suspended it. Should be back next week. I will update the spec inconsistancy thread with the changes I have noted.
  17. Personally I have driven my ST2 hard and have not triggered the ESP at all (perhaps I am not driving it hard enough ;) ). I have not driven in really bad weather and can only assume that it will be handy in this type of weather to help get the power down and keep you on the road. Remember that the ESP option includes emergency brake assist which will offer you better emergency braking. If not for your personal safety then I would go for ST2+ as it will hold it's value a little better and would certainly be more desirable than the ST1.
  18. Even with an ST fitted with ESP you could put this thing in a hedge if you are not an experienced driver. If you have to ask then get one with it.
  19. Hi Disney Cjd, Thanks for the quick reply. Can you have a feel around under there to see if you can feel the cable emerging from the autochanger? You may have to do this from the rear seats. I assume this will be one cable that splits into three parts when it reaches the back of the seat multi-plug.
  20. I am looking for anyone with a MK2 Focus or Focus C-Max with the 6 disk autochanger fitted under the passenger seat. Likely culprits will be anyone with the CD/DVD SatNav system fitted. Reason: I am looking for the part number of the cable that connects the underseat CD Autochanger to the underseat junction box. Apparently this part number will be written on the cable somewhere so you may need a bit of light to view it. If anyone can help I would be very appreciative.

  22. Cheers TomTom. tbh I assume the unit will come with the very latest firmware pre-installed so no need to do much at the mo. Out of interest, do you know anything about the calibration function on the SatNav settings menu. You have two options, position and distance. Distance can only be calibrated whilst in a journey but the position can be updated at any time you are not moving. Am I right in thinking that the unit pretty much calibrates itself automatically regardless of what you do here and that this function is just if the vehicle is moved to an area without many/any roads and you need t
  23. Cheers TT70. I will chat with the dealer when I drop in for the courtesy check. To be honest I am not sure they will know how to do this as they have not sold many cars with satnav. I suppose you don't know about a specific code/setting I could tell them about which will help them find the setting?
  24. Cheers trb75. Out of interest, what firmware / map version is installed in your car? To find out switch on your stereo on and press and hold the Menu button. After 10secs or so a keypad should appear on the screen. Enter the code 6414 and you should be taken to the service/self test menu. At the bottom of this screen is the version numbers: Mine says: Ford Software: Revision 00 13/12/2004 Map: EU V00.04.06 If you click on the Software Update button there are two more numbers here: 0.17 3 - 04/12/06 3.03 0 - 13/12/04 I have also noticed that the map POI data (although the latest)
