  1. The 2.0 TDCi is fairly quick, if you drive it between 1800 and 3200 (roughly) rpms it will pull pretty strongly. For best economy drive as said........ revs just under 2000 rpm and no air-con on.
  2. Will post the outcome - my car is booked in at TCH Derby in 10 days time to have the rear wash fixed (again) and will ask them to look at the zorst fumes smell.
  3. Mine definitely does not smell like dampness, it smells of diesel fumes. I have owned at least 20 cars with aircon and never experienced a smell like this before. I am not convinced it is normal.
  4. I have the same, I think it is diesel exhaust fumes. I think my exhaust manifold leaks. I intend to get the Ford dealer to investigate.
  5. I have the same car, you won't be dissapointed. Mines getting quicker as the miles go on. Out dragged a guy in an Audi A4 estate today, sorry Avant  he was well miffed I could see his face as he caught up with me at each set of lights. He was trying hard but no chance. Mine has 3600 miles on it now (had it end of March) and it's great - love it. Dealers are pants in my experience so far but the cars good.
  6. Mastertech don't get the wrong end of the stick, I appreciate technicians need to move my car and alter the seat - fine but it's the accumalation of crap that is so annoying. Do you need to re-tune my radio to Radio 1 to move my car from the car lot and into the srvice bay? Could they not attempt to clean the oily marks off my brand new car when they get out? Can they not put the seat back roughly how they find it? Do they have to alter the steering wheel to move the car 100 ft? Do they have to move things around in the car? Do they have to dent my car? Scuff my bumper? then mak
  7. I am totally fed up with the 2 Ford dealers in my area and want to find a better one. The first dealer put two small dents in my car and scuffed the bumper when they had it in and the second dealer got oil on my parcel shelf and some interior trims. Oh and the usual seat moved/radio tuned to different station/mirror moved/miles on the car/ stuff moved inside car - you know the take the * * * * thing they do  My car did not need a test drive after having a faulty wash wipe fixed but it appears the mechanic did or maybe they fetched the fish and chips in it  They have no respe
  8. My experience is that most car salesman know jack * * * * about the cars they sell as I said further up the post. In fact what they do know would take about half an hour to read up on. I find it amazing and annoying after all cars are not cheap purchases.
  9. Wahay Lazyman bet you can't wait now, good for you :D
  10. I have bought a lot of vehicles over the last few years (used to buy for my last company) and I am flabbergasted at the lack of basic product knowledge. To be honest it's * * * * poor. If you sell cars / trucks or vans you only have about 6 models to learn, lets face it a wet Sunday afternoon's reading get's you most of the info learnt. In my business I have around 4000 products to learn, I would be embarresed if I knew as little as the average car dealer. My experience is they don't know bog basic stuff:- What alarm is fitted? What is the mpg? Can you have this with leather? What is the
  11. I went for the 5 door as my wife said the same about my kids getting in and out. To be honest I think the Focus looks ok as a 5 door
  12. Needs the big White spoke wheels the Malaysian guy has on his Focus. Pics are on here somewhere. It looks mint with White wheels.
  13. Thanks so I wasn't far off at 25 mpg for an ST then. Suburu's and Evo's just seem to drink petrol at an alarming rate if you drive them hard. I had 2 Civic Type-R's and I used to average between 25 - 27 mpg with those, both were modified to give around 215-220 BHP.
  14. The ST should do better than 18mpg surely? I was being kind to the Suburu. My mate has a scooby and he reckons he gets around 12 mpg from his (he wellies it everywhere though) I bet an ST does about 25 on average...................c'mon ST owners am I wrong on this?
  15. The Suburu's are good but you will get very friendly with the girl at the petrol station..................................... you will see her every day.... they drink petrol. Don't expect to see much better than 18 mpg.
  16. Leo go for it, you know it makes sense
  17. Yes I agree I do prefer it closer to my eye too but I like the neatness of where I have it. Know what you mean about the voice sometimes. I don't fully rely on the sat nav though. I was a rep for 18 years so know lots of areas pretty well so only use the sat nav to help me out. Your install looks neat too smeems, near to eye level too of course.
  18. No it's fine, it's not in eye line like it would be on the dash top in the window but I can't stand having it there with the wires all dangling on show. I don't mind a quick glance down when at trafic lights to see the map. To be honest the voice gives you directions anyhow of course.
  19. Thanks, power comes from the power socket of course but tapped in behind the centre console as there is not enough room behind the sat nav unit. The aerial comes from the roof and wire goes through rear wash wipe grommet then into headlining then under carpets to the back of the centre console and into the sat-nav unit. The original windcsreen mount was used as a cradle after I butchered it with my dremmel multi and then used self adhesive velcro and some little rubber feet made from fuel pipe to mount the cradle securely. Sounds complex but it was easy really :D
  20. Difficult to answer this without sounding biased but........... no excuse for cc's I bet you can guess I have the 2.0 I can't comment on the 1.8 as I have not driven one, but the 2.0 is good.
  21. Just fitted my Navman into my focus, looks really neat, fairly easy to install too.
  22. You have to adapt to driving a diesel, they pull better than most petrols once you stick within their narrow powerband. In mine you can be in 4th gear at 1800 rpm and floor it and it flies up to 4000 rpm and is great for swift overtakes. I can out drag 1.6 ltr petrol cars no problem. You have to drive diesels a little different - trust me. Oh and get it chipped and it will really fly
  23. I have a 2.0 Tdci and its great I love it
  24. wow they look fantastic, look good when the Black rubber of the tyres is next to them.
