  1. I had Toyo's on my old focus and never found they wore out too quickly. I've had em on a couple of months now and probably done about 3000 miles, i'll have to check the tread depth and see how they're doing.
  2. The Michelin Primacy are noisey tyres and I found my car wheel spun at the slightest touch of the accelerator. So i swapped them for Toyo T1 proxes and i couldn't believe the difference when i drove it out of the tyre dealers. It was quiet to the point of sounding muffled and the grip is fantastic. I can't understand why Ford would design a car with such a fantastic chassis and put crap tyres on it.
  3. Hi all, I've been wondering what modification to do to my car next and have been considering having my rear windows tinted. I'm still trying to make my mind up if dark windows would look alright on a red 3 door, what does everyone think? I wouldn't even bother with any DIY method, but has anyone had them done and what's the view like looking out of the car from inside? I'm a driving instructor so i still need good visibility out the back and sides.
  4. Mine has 23,000miles on now and the drive is very quiet even after the last year of abuse it's had from learners buggering about with the clutch and the gears. I would also try and get a second opnion. My local ford dealer where i bought my car (Evans Halshaw) is crap and i wouldn't trust them to wash it never mind service it so I travel 30 miles to a small independant Ford dealer (Richardson's of Driffield) where they speak to you, and listen, and the mechanics know what they're on about. My previous Focus had an ongoing problem which Evans Halshaw didn't want to know about and just kept s
  5. SNAP! I'm now toying with having the black bumper strip changed for a colour coded one, seen as some clumsey fool has touched mine with their car and scratched it. :x
  6. I've swapped my Michelin Primacy too for Toyo T1 Proxes. They're quiet, grip well and look much better. £340 It's like driving a different car.
  7. My first Focus mk2 was a ford direct car from Hertz and it had a full size spare which i was glad about. When i bought my new Focus last march it came with the space saver so i asked the dealer if i could swap the wheels over. I had to swap everything over, the surround, carpet, a spacer which fits in the bottom of the wheel well and the bolt which holds the wheel in. If not you'll have a wheel that jumps about in the boot everytime you go over a bump, the boot floor will be the same height as before or a boot carpet that wont fit properly. So a breakers could be your best bet.
  8. My spoiler cost £100 to be painted but the finish is fantastic. I fitted it myself.
  9. Here's mine! Before I picked it up March 2008. Modifications include, Xenon filled dipped, main beam and fog lamp bulbs. LED side lights. Sony MP3 head unit. AUX socket in glove box. Sunglasses holder. Stainless steel sill protectors. ST spoiler. Flip key. Front and rear mud guards. Velour mats with Focus logo. I've had it nearly a year now and still love it to bits!
  10. Sorry mate, any chance you could explain a bit more what you mean? Worried i've got the wrong spoiler, I dont want the bodyshop painting it if it's the wrong one. Hi oobster, There are five bolts alltogether, three are underneath the trim panel at the top of the rear window which comes off fairly easily and the two at either side. there is a clip at either end of the spoiler which goes behind the window glass, save these because you'll need them on the new one too. If your spoiler is the same as mine you'll need to cut the wire for the high level brake light because the plugs are diffe
  11. Thankyou Jimbosfocus, I've never tried any of the waxes you've mentioned although I do like some of the other Autoglym products. I was just impressed with this Turtlewax stuff because of how easy it was, I've only ever got a shine like that from the hard work type waxes that leave white dust allover the car. I should've done before and after shots to compare.
  12. A few years back i had a Fiat Stilo with auto wipers which were very irratic. I had the sensor replaced under warranty and afterwards they worked brilliantly. Unlike the rest of the car. Might be worth getting the dealer to have a look.
  13. Hi all, Have any of you tried Turtlewax Ice polish? I got some for christmas and have been itching to try it but today was the first time i've had the time and the weather was good enough. It's fantastic stuff and can be used on plastic trim aswell and with a little elbow grease it took off tar spots too. I had a look in Halfauds to see how much it was and it's fairly pricey but well worth it. My car is positively glowing 8)
  14. I totally agree. Over the winter i've been amazed by the number of times I have managed to spin the wheels on my car just pulling away out of a junction. Firstly I know how to drive (I'm a driving instructor) and secondly I dont mean driving like a nutcase. I was thinking it was a problem with the car because of the lack of road holding and I took it to the dealers to have it checked but it was fine. i'm even considering spending the £300 pounds now and getting my grip back.
  15. I have Michelin Premacy on mine at the minute which is what the car came with and i hate them! They're noisey and i don't think they offer very good grip considering how much they cost (£92 each at my local Ford dealer). I've done 20,000 since march and they've still got about 5mm of tread on the fronts and more on the back. :( On my old Focus I had Toyo Proxes tyres on it which were quieter, had more grip, looked better, have a little lip which runs round the rim and protects the wheel if you get too close to a kerb. And more importantly they cost about £75 each. I'll definately be putt
  16. When i changed mine I did them from above. Because the headlight units are so easy to remove and the fog light surrounds are so awkward. With the headlight unit moved you can just reach down and take the H8 bulbs out by twisting them and pulling them out.
  17. i wouldn't bother either, if the picture is correct they don't look anything like the correct contour for the car. The genuine Ford ones aren't that expensive and are very easy to fit.
  18. I liked being able to lock the doors from the passenger side, but i do very much like the extra colour coding and i like the way the wipers slow down when you bring the car to a stop and then speed up again when you move off.
  19. While i was in the garage with my car yesterday I asked one of the technicians and he said later model Focus's had the control unit removed from the passenger door. A cost cutting excercise as i thought. :( Being a driving instructor I do spend much of my day sat int the passenger seat and it would be nice to be able to lock the car from the passenger seat when you're parked up somewhere and somebody shifty looking walks by.
  20. Mine does that too. If you press the power button it comes back on. It must be a common problem, the old Sony 6 disc i used to have in my old car was always doing strange things like that and worse. It was generally crap even though it looked and sounded better than the cd6000.
  21. And mine is a 08 plate, built in december 2007. And mine doesn't lock from the passenger door. I'm taking mine into the garage on thursday for something else so i'm gonna ask and see what they've got to say.
  22. I have the lockwood ones on my car which is red. They have a slightly different design on them to Anto's. I'll take a picture of them and post it on here tomorrow and then you can see what they look like. :D
  23. My 2005 mk2 used to lock everything from the passenger door, but my 2008 mk2 doesn't. I guessed it was just another cost cutting excercise like the absense of the interior light dimmer and no drivers side grab handle on the ceiling.
