  1. Ortho - These what your after? You'll have every NED and CHAV in a 50 mile radius with your motor noted for potential victim. How will you make sure they don't go walkies? Reason I ask is I feel like Emelda Marcos myself when it comes to shoes for motors but the thieving scum make me feel the attention just isn't worth it. After seeing how Gator grips fit so nicely on my Evo locking wheel nuts i'm keen to learn of any way to secure wheels. If you have any tips on keeping the wheels please share with us :) Cheers, Chris
  2. thanks pichacker, There was me thinking it was just a case of plugging in the new steeringwheel with the switches, plugging into the backplate and enabling an option in the ECU/PCM setup. The reason I thought it would be easy was I was hoping the switches you mention may already be present on the car - clutch actuation switch, brake pedal actuation switch, accelerator pedal actuation switch which are all already monitored by the cars CAN I think. I was thinking also that with the Diesel's being fly by wire throttle there would be no need for a mechanical solution here. Surely the CC is just
  3. I can live with the sights and textures but SOUNDS? What do they want us to hear? I thought the goal of most modern high quality  cars was to insulate the occupants from all environmental sounds so what does that leave? The Stereo perhaps? I wonder how many car owners spend their time leaning all over the dash while driving, bashing the dash with their fist to try and make it shut up?
  4. Chris - One thing to consider:- The bigger your kids get the more sick they can excrete when car sick ;) :P With the CMax you would be able to slide the rear chairs back so that there would be less chance of them winging you with their sick down the back of your drivers seat  Either that or ban them from pigging on sweets, ice cream, washed down with fizzy drinks
  5. All sorted now m8 - thanks. Looks like this will be a no brainer now :) When I get the sensor kit delivered i'll pop some photo's up of how I got on in the fitting process incase anyone else fancies having a go. Your help has been much appreciated. Warm regards, Chris
  6. vitro - Your a genius. Why didn't I think of that. Time to whip out the brown tape and ammuse passers by with my antics  Just need a calm day and shall hopefully get this one licked once and for all. Have a virtual beer on me m8 :drinking: Cheers, Chris
  7. Thanks vitro :) Now to find the light cluster disassembly procedure on TIS. I could have sworn they have omitted this for some reason on the CMax section. Guess i'm not looking hard enough. Will pop some photo's up on how I get on when fitting time arrives incase anyone else is wondering how to go about doing this. Now off to pop open my fuse box for you m8 to see if I got the fuses your missing. Will post back my findings. Cheers, Chris
  8. Justice - Just a thought - may it be worth asking a friend to allow the use of their name and address to write to FCRC asking for a copy of the T's&C's of the Commitment Scheme as a prospective car purchaser? Maybe FCRC would be more willing to give a copy to someone their not in dispute with? Will be interesting to see whats in those T's&C's as it would inform us as to whether Ford are leaving themselves wide open with defaulting these at their will so allowing the likes of yourself a loophole to pin them down legally so they cannot wriggle out of their commitments to yourself and oth
  9. Hi Chris, I'm afraid I would not do the change as the high up driving position and overall larger size of the car is very confidence inspiring and more practical than smaller cars. The CMax is not all that long, has a very good turning radius and so is easy to park with only the width taking some getting used to. The overall practicality of the CMax far outweighs the benefits of the new Focus IMO. The biggest bonus though is when driving lower down cars round the countryside you cannot see over walls and hedges and so are tunnelled into the journey, whereas the journey is a lot more interest
  10. Thanks for the info pichacker :) I'll ask them to enable on Friday when the car goes in. You don't by any chance know whereabouts in the WDS menu the option for enabling Cruise Control is located? Just trying to get the full picture of whats envolved to retro fit this to my motor before approaching the dealer for a quote. Cheers, Chris
  11. Martin, Who did you speak to at Skipton Ford? It was Carl I dealt with with my car and was told that my car had received updates to the ECU/PCM to cure the power delivery problem. I cannot see how they would need to wait for disks for their WDS when they've just done mine. Only thing I can think of is my car may have been used as a guinea pig by a mobile FMC tech doing the update which may not be released to the dealer network as still in testing? May be worth you ringing them back and asking, mentioning my car having just been with them and fixed for the same power delivery issue. Be intere
  12. Justice - If Ford have these T's&C's in print and you have a copy I am puzzled how they can justify changing them to suit themselves at random. Surely this would count as a breaking of third party contract liability that Craig was on about a while ago? Chris
  13. Hi Martin, Sorry to hear you too are afflicted with the wind noise. Glad to hear its not just me imagining it :) I've currently had it looked at by Otley Motors and they just told me that they could not find a fault with it and packed me on my way. Allen Ford Nottingham thought it was windscreen not fitted properly - new screen fitted by me indirectly (long story :( ), made no difference and they would not listen when I told them it sounded like it was coming from drivers side window. Skipton Ford have been great up till now, can't fault them :) The car goes in this Friday to have the wind n
  14. Hi all, Went out tonight for a spin and tonight was the first time i've driven in calm conditions. What did I notice? Ahhhhhh! The damned noise from the driver door/window thats sounds like either the window or the door is not nipping up properly. When sitting as passenger all is quiet. When driving is noticeable straight away. Is anyone else experiencing anything else like this? Chris
  15. Good stuff Craig, thanksyou :) Time to work on my claim  Cheers, Chris
  16. tdbbci - thanks for the info :) I don't know if I dare upset the apple cart at the moment as my car is running so sweet i'd hate to upset it now :( Will have to see how it runs when the hot weather returns before looking at fiddling again  Have you tried popping the standard air filter back in yet and resetting the ECU? Be interested to know if you can cure this problem you seem to be having with lumpy tickover. I don't notice any clouds of soot when i'm booting my car. I have noticed on Mondeo forum that a common fault causing excessive soot output was caused by faulty EGR valve. Chri
  17. Mick - Are you sure the PSA/Ford motor is less keen? Reason I ask is that my old mans VW PD130 really takes off when the turbo kicks in and gives the illusion that its faster than my CMax which I feel has a more linear power delivery. Once I drive both cars in anger  on the same country roads pulling hard up hills the VW is not a patch on the CMax! Even my old man reckons the CMax is much more powerful than the PD130. The CMax feels like hills make no difference to the pull of the car compared to other diesels i've driven. I'm probably wrong (won't be the first time), but I have a hard ti
  18. Hi mjmcmax, I'm going to be really cheeky ;) and ask, would it be possible for you to scan the T's&C's of the Commitment Scheme so I can host a copy of it so everyone can access it on the net? If you would not mind doing this PM me and i'll pop you my email address. Cheers, Chris
  19. Mick, I'm afraid I do not know about how the updates are stored but the fact that you can remove the stereo permanently with the Ford supplied fascia I would doubt that the Stereo would have anything to do with ECU/PCM software. Surely the ECU/PCM are reprogrammed independently? Best bet would be to ring Ford Technical, then have a word with FCRC so that you know the facts regarding this before approaching the dealer. Just curious - do you have the clock on your car losing time? I could have sworn my car did not do this till it had its first update. Maybe your car has been reset to factory d
  20. bennie - my car originated from Allan Ford Northampton - nuff said!
  21. Geordie Mick, Something wrong with your car m8. Have you had it looked at for the outstanding issues repairs? Mine was doing well over 40mpg on the motorway before the fixes and looks like will be getting a lot more if my current urban figures are anything to go by! :) ortho, Your driving a duffer m8. My CMax 2.0 TDCi now sorted shows average speed to be ~20mph and is showing 41mpg. Sounds like the fuel comp and ECU/PCM on your loan car is in need of a warranty fix. Also when sorted the car feels a lot smoother throughout the power delivery and runs better from cold 8) If your car th
  22. Thanks anyway ortho - was worth asking I suppose. Cheers, Chris
  23. As a bung for services rendered? Your clutching at straws now m8 ;) Ask them if they do AirMiles instead - give you more flexibility on what to spend on
  24. Sounds like more trouble than its worth m8. Guess i'll have to hope the new ECU/PCM software will sort this out as when the hot weather was with us earlier this year the car drove awful, like a slug. I do feel though with the new software from last week it does feel a lot better now, so fingers crossed. Just need one more day of hot weather to see but I feel we've seen the last of our summer now :( Cheers, Chris
  25. Am I right in thinking the box in the picture above i've dotted red is the one? When I looked around that area I couldn't see anyducting coming to the front so was wondering if it could do with a ram air style duct. Its a bit cramped in there so cannot make head or tail of it. Watercooled intercoolers are a bit out of my league i'm afraid, though I think i could manage a Nesquick style bodge for some cold air. Chris
