  1. Thanks Peter :) I've just had a nasty thought though. I'm thinking this will be a waste of time though because I have a Toad AI606 installed on this motor and thinking about it the Toad will just unlock all the doors before I even get to using the Ford keyfob. I'll have a play and see what happens. Cheers, Chris
  2. I remember there being a post about this a bit back and there was supposed to be an option added to the cars firmware to allow the enabling of Autolocking. Was wondering if it is possible now to enable this at home like with the smaller Foci or do you have to get the dealer to do it with the WDS setup? Cheers, Chris
  3. Hi Chargerate, I couldn't believe it when I read it - every 10 years or 150,000 miles! Be interesting to know why the interval is so high. Hope this helps. Chris
  4. Good stuff :D Let us know how you get on and what you think of it after a few miles. Wish you luck, Chris
  5. Lol, don't Ford want people to come back to them for their next motor? They must be doing very badly financially if thats the way they play things. Sad thing is I paid full whack for my motor (no employee discount) so even if they offered me £500 in vouchers they'd be quids in. We'll see what happens after I get my courtesy call from FCRC I guess
  6. Whatever way it goes m8, heres hoping you come out of it happy with the conclusion :) I did notice that on Honest John's it did say that the CMax has been noted to have a problem with ECU failure. If this is whats happened to your motor fingers crossed you'll soon have your car back soon 8) They wouldn't have me. The place would be like a holiday camp within a week  :popcorn2 :drinking:
  7. Hehe, I'll pop that in a Fax to Mr. Thomas and see if they are prepared to play reasonable. Will let you guys know how I get on. Just curious Justice - would I have any grounds to try and recoupe some of the costs listed through that online small claims Craig is pursuing?
  8. Justice - Is there no way you could get them to a deal with you to change the car? Surely it would be better for them from a customer relations point of view to get you in a permanent replacement motor, then fix yours at their leisure and plop it onto the secondhand market to offload. Everyones a winner, Ford saves face, some positive customer relations PR and the problem has gone away for all concerned. Are these people at Ford a bit slow in the upstairs dept'?
  9. Justice - I'm sorry to say this but Ford must have rushed the CMax out the door for the ECU/PCM to be released in such an unfinished/untested fashion. So Ford obviously thought it acceptable to let us guys pay for the privelidge of finding and enduring all the bugs that had NOT been ironed out before RTM. Very risky way to develope a car IMO. They could have ended up with a big problem that could have cost them 10's of millions to rectify. Someone at Ford doing the risk analysis for these kinds of things needs to take stock of what could happen plus the badwill it creates with their customers.
  10. Already on the case m8  ~700 miles in diesel = £64 plus wear and tear to vehicle @ say 5p per mile = £35. Time spent with vehicle stuck at dealers:- difference in cost of Ford Ka compared to CMax 2.0 TDCi = 3 weeks * £15 difference in value of cost of ownership = £45 Time spent by me sorting this out and lost income incurred @ £150 per day for 3 full days minimum = £450. So I reckon Ford should be looking at a minimum of £594 + goodwill. This is what it has cost me. What do you guys think? Am I being fair and reasonable? Chris
  11. Just a thought Craig, If you get a better offer of vouchers could you not get a 6CD Sony changer rig for the Mondeo or Focus and pop it on ebay as brand new and turn it into some decent cash? The Mondy and Foci may attract more punters than a CMax audio setup. Chris
  12. Just a thought - May be worth you asking how much they can do a ghia with the bodykit. Would give you the same car, and like Craig says leave you open to the choice of more goodies 8) Perhaps those rather nice 18" 8 spoke alloys to finish it off ;) Chris
  13. Hi Craig, Yup good news for a change. 8) Your mpg looks the same as mine. I was nose to tailing it when coming home but hardly pressing the accelerator gave me 40mpg with average speed of probably ~27mph if past readings of my driving style are anything to go by which looks promising. It will be a while before I brim and rebrim the car for true mpg, but will pop a post in the mpg thread and PM u when the time comes round. Hehe, those vouchers  I was eyeing up the 8 spoke 18" alloys in the dealership. If it wasn't for all the thiefing toerags i'd be tempted but doubt they would stay on
  14. Hi DougS, Your going to like your new motor m8. I cannot believe how better the car now drives :) In answer to your questions regarding what to look for:- The garage told me that they updated the ECU software to the latest available and also updated the PCM, also to the latest. Before the car was not smooth to drive, and compared to our Passat PD130 I was'nt impressed. Today driving it was like a different car. May be worth just asking if they will promise to check both the ECU and PCM have been updated to latest software before delivery. They also programmed the Stereo with new Firmware w
  15. Hi tdBBci, Do you know whether you have the latest firmware for the ECU/PCM on your car? My car is a lot smoother to drive now and the mpg computer appears to reckon its doing more mpg thanks to latest updates :) Maybe worth you asking your dealer if he can check them for you. Chris
  16. Hi all, Just to update whats gone on with my motor........ Just picked it up 1/2 hour ago and looks like ALL outstanding issues have been sorted :shocked!: No flat spot in power delivery, mpg showing better figures staright away in mpg puter display. No fuel gauge errors No random engine warning light errors on startup. Its currently absoloutely howling it down with rain so cannot check rest of motor but looking good. Hehe, after my hypochondriac postings ;) over the last few months, fingers crossed you guys can be put out of your misery and finally some positive banter for a change from my
  17. Hehe, just picked my car up 1/2 hour ago  8) My car is no longer a "dog", more like "* * * *" now  Flat spot is gone - mpg puter says 40 mpg straight away doing nose to tail back home! :D steamvalve - if your still there m8, I eat my words now Ford it would APPEAR to have sorted my motor. Do hope you forgive me? Some positive support, fingers crossed coming your way :shocked!: Me like my TDCi now 8) Chris
  18. Hi tdBBci, I'm hoping my car will be ready tomorrow (fingers crossed), so will take note of the idle. Hope its not a side effect of the ECU/PCM updating. Please don't feel it necessary to whip out your filter on my account m8. I know what a * * * * those Jetex panels can be :( Chris
  19. v965hdss - steamvalve is right. We need more positive feedback from owners. Sometimes this forum reads like a CMax bitchin fest  Sorry for my negativity steamvalve  Hopefully this weekend I will be able to at last get my motor back and join the decent folk in giving some positive feedback on my motor for a change :) I will mend my ways, I promise :shocked!: :2gunfire: :brickwall :popcorn2 :drinking:    ....................
  20. Hehe, I would answer you m8 on this one but steamvalve will not be happy  Its a gamble m8, like any car. If your looking at damage limitation then it may be worth looking elsewhere in my opinion. (sorry steamvalve ;) ) Go do it m8. We need an "Ultima" owner in here so we can badger him for piccys of the interior ;) Chris
  21. vitrocmax - lol, you've started something here  Popping all these bits on your motor - I look forward to the next mod. I have visions of a CMax in the future looking like a Christmas Tree with loads of non Ford addons  So far i've done the footwell mod, cheers. Now i've got to change my rear wiper. Any chance of a larger, bigger visual impact mod next? All my neighbours are going to wonder what i'm up to eyeing up their cars. Hehe, looking for mods off cars where the design is better!

  23. Justice - So they're saying that it will take a few weeks till they can look at it, then there could be two to three more weeks waiting for parts because Ford are stiffing their suppliers? I hope the Ford EO offer to intervene on you behalf for you m8 to speed things up. Is this a common problem with all car manufacturers making people wait for parts and dealers having long waiting lists? If it is common I don't know how we all keep our cars on the road   Perhaps Ford have a fleet of courtesy cars out there to keep the manufacturing numbers up? Sorry for being sarcastic b
  24. Yep this is a "free" discussion forum ;) and I certainly am not proud of MY CMax :( I don't have to stand up for anything but myself. Ford can do their own dirty work  Steamvalve - Glad your pleased with yours m8. I wish I could join you
  25. Ok Geordie Mick - You win. I must be a dumbass  Hope you didn't mind ;)
