  1. Belt-minder isn't part of the homologation requirement. I have found the process for disabling - can be done by the customer or WDS. This is similar to the previous process by snowman, but omitted the preparation phase. Here you go guys - peace at last!!! Preparation 1. Apply the parking brake. 2. Place the transmission selector lever in P (Park) - vehicles with automatic transmission or the neutral position - vehicles with manual transmission. 3. Turn the ignition switch to the 0 position. 4. Close all the vehicle doors from the inside of the vehicle. 5. Unbuckle the drivers safety b
  2. As far as I am aware, given this is not a mandatory legislative feature but a customer safety one, then disabling should be possible. As to whether this is customer configurable is another thing. Its an unlikely addition to the handbook, but there may be some unofficial simultaneous button pressing + ignition key switching to disable. Failing this, the dealer will definitely be able to configure required module via WDS. Will check tomorrow and advise
  3. Not had the issue on CMax, but had a similar braking difficulty (recall) on my ST170. It was to do with the brake vacuum assistance (insufficient) caused by a bad pipe routing. The pedal usually goes to the floor (when cold), offering poor braking. Would be surprised if FMC fell foul of this safety critical issue though?? Let us know what the dealer finds.
  4. No, not yet - I have a hard copy of the previous price list. I am still waiting to see the Privilege voucher deals. I am guessing it was not such a good month and there are some delays whilst the final 'snake-oil salesman' deals are formulated. We wait with baited breath.
  5. Can't see this being a campaign guys - otherwise every CMax in the network will be getting a set of rear pads (££). At most will be an obscure TSB - customer complaint basis only when issue validated by dealer. Looking at the TSB's last week an did not see one for squeal, though the fix can precede the bulletin as advised through dealer technical support Looks as though new service parts have started to creep through the network after production intro fix. If anyone is getting pads as normal wear & tear replacement, make sure the dealer fits latest level parts (not dusty spares of
  6. Not sure what the score is with not doing the first service unless Rapid Fit are under instruction from FMC to steer towards dealer whilst the manufacturers warranty is in place (Don't forget that the Ford Warranty whilst 3 years is a 1yr manufacturer+2 years dealer backed warranty). Thanks to the unfolding block-exemption laws, I do not see why there is a problem with a non-Ford dealer/affiliate/independent doing the servicing as long as genuine Ford parts (or same/better quality aftermarket parts) are used and repair/replacement procedures followed. You will see many manufacturers offer
  7. Never seen these for the C-Max. I don't believe Ford do them, and aftermarket tend to go for perceived 'volume' models only. Come on Ford - revenue opportunity in troubled times!!
  8. Not a bad thing really - I hate belt minder (just as well you can disable it). Would you by any chance have configured something on the car recently - e.g double locking/drive-away door locking. After doing the latter on my Focus ST, the tailgate release button strategy changed. Sounds like it may have become disabled (if LED works but does not come on). Usually the default for warnings is that they stay on when fault present. Will tap a friend who may know a man in the know.
  9. Accessory only - 30mm lower and will improve handling. Not sure on the price - refer to dealer job for fitted price only. As for ease of fitment - depends if you have a ramp. Rears relatively easy - can remove when dropping beam. Fronts will need strut removal from knuckle and dis-assembly/reassembly Not a good DIY idea unless proficient with coil-spring retaining clamps - can do quite a bit of damage to your face if they unspring whilst detensioning. I would let an FMC dealer install them - at least if there are probs afterwards there is a comeback.
  10. vitrocmax, Don't know if the process has changed, but for certain 'live-wire' customers, the CRC used to pull the surveys for certain customers to not rub salt in wounds/let sleeping dogs lie (with your car history this is likely). This can only be done in exceptional cases, as otherwise the dealer would request every poor survey be quashed, thus earning them their maximum back end margin. The issue is even though FMC does not own its network, as the front face to the customer (and continued sales) 'dealer-councils' still have power, so perhaps the survey scrutinisation has stopped now.
  11. I would ask the following (assuming this car is brand new): -Why no manuals - supplied with vehicle in transit pack? -PDI checklist not usually supplied on handover, just a handover checklist. Nevertheless, the checksheet should be available upon request. -Aircon check is part of the PDI - why not picked up?? -Paintwork should have been on the PDI mark-up sheet (allows dealer to claim for transit damage etc) -Why are the plates cracked - they are fitted at the dealer at PDI - the car has been nowhere!!. -Washer bottle leaking (no excuses). Understand that the dealer cannot remove bottle fr
  12. It is likely that the harness prewire will be the issue ins solar sensors etc. Whilst reducing complexity for manufacturing is a bonus, giving away harness bundles is a no-no (oncost) these days. I anticipate that it depends on the spec of the vehicle - if relatively lo-spec, will have a lo-level supporting harness and break-outs. Whilst anything is technically possible, the addition of certain features- e.g heated windscreen/DEATC/premium sound systems becomes uneconomic and problematic (warranty implications)
  13. Do you know for definite that this is a Corporate Affairs car? The CMax is a very popular choice on the Management car fleet within FMC? Their cars are well specced to attract the dealers upion fleet disposal. Dont forget your rights under the Ford Direct policy for exchanging vehicle if you are not completely happy.
  14. I don't believe there are bungs in the footwells. This sounds like the classic pressure washer round door closures to me. It may be that the vehicle was cleaned in PDI and the primary door seals at rear compromised with the high pressure jet (rookie car cleaner). Primary door seals cannot withstand a high pressure blast from the lance - I once dealt with a customer who had the carpet replaced 3x due to a 'water leak'. Finally we clocked that an industrial power wash was being used at his place of work, but only after a water sample was taken from the rear and found to contain fluoride - i
  15. Ford Group (inc Jaguar etc) tend to knock up door cards with components heat-staked together these days. Great to reduce cost, stop bits squeaking and falling off - not so great if you want to replace speaker grilles. Anticipate that the part is low volume, DFS and hence unusually expensive.
  16. Hi all, I run an ST170 but borrowed a colleagues C-Max for a Devon trip - very impressed and thinking of making the switch. Trip down fine - excellent vehicle and no problems for the weeks driving However, on the trip back from Cornwall, was sat at 80mph in 5th when the power seemingly faded. No warning lights, no limp home, just seemingly surpressed performance. Pulled into the hard shoulder then progressed - all ok. Noticed however that the temp gauge was fluctuating from usual rest point to top of gauge and then it occurred again, around 70mph mark. 6th gear just seemed to put the
