  1. OMG - cant believe the knob thread is still ongoing.
  2. Could be - or another possibility is that the 2.0L Auto (petrol?) is a model that is not usually put 'against the fence' for stock and they are winding down production ahead of J1 for the facelift.
  3. That would be the 12 month parts warranty! Best keep them peeled - 8 months and counting
  4. I'm looking forward to the warranty claim advice thread - good luck!!
  5. Sell whilst you have the chance gents - To think I only lost £10k in a year on my 2.0L Ghia TDCi.  Great car, but never again.
  6. It wasn't a long term fix sadly, though no longer a problem - My company S-Type Jag is very quiet. Now who says Jaguars are rebadged Fords
  7. Think that you need to lose the paranoia - for the £10 this costs dealer in parts its not worth trying it on. Its the pollen filter in the cabin you should be worried about 8)
  8. "You may well think that, I couldn’t possibly comment."
  9. Find the engine code on the VIN plate - let me know what it is and I will advise which engine (emissions) you have. Alternatively PM me the VIN and I will advise,
  10. Great car - depreciation is abysmal though. Would definitely go the 2nd hand private route if I bought another one.
  11. Fraid that thanks to the unique way the forum is funded, Mastertech has officially left the building. you may find him on focusowners.com
  12. Hope so, but think it may be a little late for that now that the 'voting with feet' migration is complete. Just goes to show that complacency and strong-arm tactics are not always the best policy, no matter how popular a forum may appear. Just popped in to see if I could post in the 'cars for sale' section, but sadly not. Goodbye and good luck in awakening the forum guys
  13. Go for it chap - you wont get any of this work for free. Seems a reasonable deal to me.
  14. Not for a May 04 car - its difficult enough getting a refund after one month elapsed, never mind 2 years. Used replacement pretty much out of the question as well. Totally agree with the goodwill/compensatory route though. With the aforementioned legal route, I would look for contribution to any loan payments incurred given supposed ingferior loan car transport + Extended warranty for > 5yrs (transferrable of course  ) and servicing goodwill from the dealer. Sounds like you have experienced a rough ride mate. Good luck in your pursuit and dont give up.
  15. Bit like the jiffy-lube mentality in the USA - no harm done, just not much point as highlighted above. JFI oil filter durability is a lot longer than you think and under normal/non-arduous conditions would last a few services. Still - suppose that Ford and network need to make some revenue somehow
  16. TSB obviously only valid if your car is before the 'safe VIN'. Dealers generally would not risk carrying out the work if outside the campaign VINs as payment refusal often offends.. What is the build date cutoff for this??
  17. Ive driven a C-Max with 17"ers and the ride is very compliant - wish I had specified them on mine. As for life-span, as I said before, diamond cut and machined finished alloys tend to deteriorate ahead of standard ones.
  18. I bet its acid based - great for shifting brake dust. Bit like brake fluid is great for shifting paint :o
  19. Is this the white bit of paper that comes back with coffee-rings and butty stains on it
  20. Problem is that most dealers don't usually pre-order parts and will only do so when issue is diagnosed. The best you can expect is that the dealer will confirm your issue, order the parts and get you to re-book. I would try and find a nearer Ford dealer.
  21. Sounds like the supply tube has become detached - check the feed from the reservoir and the connection to the nozzle at the rear. Former is not easy due to the positioning of the washer res.
  22. Not a TSB but dealer comms - I tried my chances back in May for replacement, but the dealer lubricated and all was quiet .........for a couple of weeks, now the noise is back. My car was Apr 05 and within safe VIN range, but squeak still very apparent. Sadly, due to the unique way that warranties are funded, the body and trim item coverage ends after 12 months, so I guess its time to get the silicone spray/Crytox out. Anyone out there had any success with lubing the seals and if so, what was used?
  23. Good luck with the offence against dealer/FMC. Don't forget that to all intents and purposes the warranty covering the wheels and caps is 1yr. (as per paint/trim warranty). Saying that, Ford have been known to make contributions where a design is less then robust  Machined and diamond cut alloys always are more susceptible than standard alloy wheels My Ghia wheels are fine, but plain dull. I looked after the wheels very carefully on my ST170, and still got lacquer creep and degradation after a couple of years. An inevitable outcome IMHO.
