  1. Excellent news - you can be that the durability of these parts will be better if the OEM has to cough for the replacement in extended warranty situations.
  2. I have just checked V5 and any other paper work I could find on our Sepetember 54 reg 1.6 TDCi 109BHP and there is no reference to it being the EURO4. So how do you know if you have a DPF fitted? What does it look like and where is it? Andy DPF's are like a cat-converter can, generally in the exhaust system post-downpipe and pre-cat, usually as close to the 'hot-end' as possible. The one for the 2.0 TDCi Max had a cerium tank packaged close to the fuel tank that provided the dosing required to get the combustion temps up to burn off particulates. These dosed DPF's require the cerium
  3. There have been threads on this before. As far as I recall, you would need to install headlamp washers (legal requirement for HID). In theory could buy service parts for C-Max, but will need to cut holes in bumper cover, fit covers, washer units, pipework and potentially (?) revised washer-bottle with additional or uprated pump. Also need to have dynamic headlamp levelling (no interior manual adjust like normal halogens) though presume this is built into HID headlamp assemblies. Anticipate there must also be additional underhood modules, link harness and uprated relays/fuses for increased
  4. Sadly, this is not some form of customer goodwill gesture on VW's part - there are pretty comprehensive emission laws in the USA that covers emission related components (leak path as well as stipulated intake/emissions/aftertreatment systems). All manufacturers are pretty much over a barrel to replace certain parts up to 10yrs / 150k miles (lifetime) FOC by legislation. Shame we don't have such guarentees (and lemon law equivalents) - prayers would be answered from some FFOC threads .
  5. Intriguing - if Ford could get to Euro IV with the DW10 TDCI engines through EMS tweaks, why did they bother with the additive DPF kit in the first place? According to my sources, cerium dosed DPF's were a big headache (£) for PSA & FMC which expedited the hasty migration to Catalysed DPF's by all. Puma engine achieved Euro IV without DPF as demonstrated on Mondeo 130PS and 150PS with eEGR. Only going for optional DPF's in the 'green' markets now for future progs I guess. Whats the score then Mastertech - have Ford being doing some sums and found that they can pass St IV levels wi
  6. Sadly, I am not a salesman (just a hint of sarcasm on my part given current availability of ST's) However, I too contractually qualify for Privilege discount 8) .
  7. Just about every Focus Mk 2 and C-Max in every light colour has a bumper cover/fender mismatch in normal daylight conditions. Safe to say that the dealer can advise it is to spec, just by showing you his car-lot. I have got used to it - rather keep the original paint than have it stuffed-up and explain to next owner why car has been painted. We have a fleet of Audi A4's at work in silver/light blue metallics and the mis-matches can be seen quite clearly on these too. How difficult can it be to get the colour masters right?
  8. Laptops! - more like some Dr Who surplus set from the 70's. Have you seen the standard WDS machines. Latest IDS system that Ford will migrate to is a bit more technological - who knows, they might start going wireless and throw those parallel port cables away soon :l  ol:
  9. Depends how smart the dealers are with shuffling their order banks and getting in early enough to amend stock/other orders to your spec. Simple fact is that you may have got an earlier ST stock or customer order that had the spec tickled shortly to your requirement before build.
  10. Is now necessary - C-Max would be illegal if it was not fitted, as all cars sold from Jan 1st 06 need to be Stage 4 emissions compliant (needs the trap to achieve this). They do cost a bomb though - hope noo-ones gets blocked and cracks!. DPF's have been available on the C-Max since this time last year - thats what differentiates the Stage 3 emissions from Stage 4 - a cerium dosed particle trap. I bought mine without last May and specifically requested a Stage 3.
  11. Thats right - if either of you guys want a new ST, I can get you a discount, any spec/colour you like and guaranteed 2 week delivery
  12. Have you applied any polish to the screen? I have found that when sometimes using shampoo/wax combos or 'wax-it-wet' product with chamois, I get screen judder. You can get a decent screen-cutting paste from Halfords etc. Combined with cleaning blades, should be fine.
  13. Suppose plan is that it will eat into Zafira market share - they have had it good for too long based solely on the Flex-7 fold flat seat system. Will have an effect on the VW Van...oops Touran as well. As S-Max has a similar fold-flat system and better styling than the above IMHO, will be a fight to the death in the MPV sector. All depends on the pricing I suppose.
  14. I give up   First quote in Mastertech's observation above is to get your car back into line after the late first service. I am merely expressing an opinion. Second quote is a general servicing recommendation for Ford vehicles, and would apply (if first service had not been late).
  15. Ford generally produce new models every 5-6 years or so, with minor facelifts at mid-points. Following recent Ford convention, expect facelifts of headlight/rear cluster, bumper/trim profiling and TLF changes for the C-Max in line with new Galaxy/S-Max design languages. S-Max is not replacement for C-Max, adding another model to the range and answers the previous shortfall of 7-seats. Will be priced accordingly as an additional (premium) product in the popular MPV sector. I will do some digging with a friend in the know to find out about C-Max plans.
  16. 5yr warranty not really a statement of confidence, but a purchase swaying sweetener. 5yr warranty is great, but I will take the risk of an industry standard 3yr warranty on another marque safe in the knowledge that my vehicle will be worth more than a 4-pack of lager
  17. Can get a refurb done fairly economically - check the Yellow Pages or better still get a recommendation. May need to get wheel rebalanced afterwards. Lot of these Zetec wheels (sets & singles) go up for sale on eBAY as well - worth a look, especially if you can get one locally without postage costs. Good luck
  18. Yup - Fuel Fired Heater is standard fit for cold climates (Sweden, Norway etc.) and optional for other marginal countries. Don't think that it is even offered as an option for UK spec cars as not deemed necessary. Some luxury segment cars in UK have a FFH and parking heater (pre heat etc.) - you pays your money.
  19. My dealers and others on this board beg to differ. I was told that my feb 04 car is due a service Feb06 even though the dealer i bought it from originally said June 06 (1 year afgter purchase by me) and then April 06 (year after service by them) so car due 25k or July 06 I dont see anyone begging to differ. 1st service - Original car registered Feb 04, first service Feb 05 or 12500 miles whichever sooner. Therefore 2nd service - Feb 06 or 25k miles whichever sooner. If you are an above average mileage driver, likely to be done by miles, if lower, then done on the 12 monthly basis. F
  20. If registered, there may be some warranty/campaign restrictions - if superficial body damage etc, then mechanical stuff should be OK though.
  21. They will fix under campaign for the known issues on the basis that your car falls into the VIN range for affected vehicles. Any other manufacturing/material defects should be covered under warranty.
  22. Servicing is at 12500 mile/12 month intervals whichever sooner. Therefore for the next service, 25k miles accrued or 12 months since last service is appropriate.
  23. Bottom line is that (non-prestige) dealers don't really want anything under 3 yrs on the lot. Sell privately for the best money. If you can take a hit from the dealer, brace yourself for the comedy exchange price.
  24. Definitely an issue related to your Eibach lowering springs......... Seriously, sorry to hear of the probs and hope the software fix does the job and clears the EGR. I am growing forever paranoid that this EGR issue will creep up on me too. Nice to see a positive outlook for the CMax for a change, despite the issue. Too much negativity/paranoia on the forum over this topic sometimes. Ford are most definitely not the only manufacturer with similar EGR issues Mastertech - out of interest, is there a build code/date applicable for this parameter reset, or is it simply a blanket fix
