  1. The latest Focus has slightly different to normal locking wheel nuts - they are a little bigger than the normal ones Ford used on the last Focus. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, whilst checking the tightness of my nuts (dont go there) I heard a cracking sound and noticed that the key for my locking nuts had cracked inside. I think this is due to poor design, but anyway, Ford came to the rescue and ordered me another key for free. Now the saga continues, whilst trying to remove my wheels in order to grease the hubs, one of the lock nuts itself cracked and I cant get that wheel off
  2. I think its to do with the auto lights feature. Ive stopped using mine cause Im fed up of the lights coming on while Im trying to start the car. ANDY
  3. Hi, our local garage had one in as a demo for the whole of last week. After 3 days use, it showed an average mpg of 14 !!!!!!!!!!!!! Fair enough, the car had a lot of running from cold and people would tend to put their foot down a bit, but 14mpg!!! Spoke to the salesman who drove it through from Aberdeen at a steady ish 60 mph and he said he reset the computer and managed to achieve an average of 28mpg for the 33 mile trip. Anyway, I gotta diesel, so 50mpg is more normal to me!! Andy
  4. Quick question to all - Ive got the 2005 model focus ghia tdci. Ive just fitted the Sony 6 cd changer. Can I fit this aux plug into my glovebox? If so, how much does it cost for the lead from the sony headunit to the glove box? I presume I need to visit Fords to buy this lead? Thanks in advance Andy
  5. I upgraded mine to the Sony 6 CD. (Thanks Ebay!!) I couldnt get hold of the "keys" to do it with, so I used a small kitchen knife and a penknife!! Its simple, especially when you have the new one waiting to go in and can just look at which way the clips need to move!! Job done in around 10mins, without any scratches/marks on dash or stereo! Just leaves me with a 6000cd surplus now........ Anyone got a base model with the cassette deck, looking to upgrade? PM me and we could deal!!! Andy
  6. Hi, Ive got a new 2005 Focus and mine does exactly the same. I think yours is alright! Cheers Andy
  7. You could just buy the six cd changer off ebay! Ive just got mine, brand new, delivered for £205!! Andy
  8. Well, Ive had my new focus for 3 weeks now.... Im loving the car, but they say these things go in threes, so hopefully, this is my lot for a while...... 1. Someone scaped the front bumper/wing with their car against mine while it was parked in my private parking slot at my flat in Glasgow... 2. The wife came home in it yesterday to tell me she had made a nice big nick in the front near side alloy when she mis judged the kerb... :( 3. Whilst reversing out of my garage at the family house, I managed to make a great job of not looking in my driver side door mirror ( I was looking
  9. No mate, just the little strip above the fogs. Ive had a pull at it (the strip) and it seems to come away fairly easily. Like I said above, I plan to try it when Ive got time off work in a couple of weeks time. If all goes o.k, I will post some pics. If not, I will deny all knowledge and hide in the back of my garage!! Andy
  10. Tesscott, Im not sure how my attempts at home painting will work out? :? However, my thoughts are that surely these two little plastic bits cant be expensive? So if I sc*w it up, then I will either get the fog trims, the spoiler and rear bump strip done professionally, or simply just replace the fog strips! Im just keen to try it - for the sake of a tin of primer, paint and lacquer, it must be worth a go!! andy
  11. Cheers all, Ive got a weeks holiday coming up in a few weeks, so I certainly am planning the colour matching of the trim above the fogs. Im gonna give it a go on my own - so fingers crossed!! - if it works out o.k, Im hoping to do the rear spoiler aswell!! With regard to the bumper mismatch, Ive gotta say, to me it really isnt an issue. Every photo I have taken seems to show it much worse than it it looks in "the metal". I cant say that anyone who has seen the car has even noticed it until I point it out. You can see from the 2 original photos - it looks really bad on one and then o
  12. I believe this facility was aded for "Reps" so that they could check the vehicles mileage when refuelling - (most fuel cards ask for mileage so that companys can maintain a monitor of use). It is to save them having to put the key in the ignition. Personally, I dont like it. If I park in a car park where its dark, the display looks very enticing to undesirables!! Andy
  13. Yeah, your right mate but Ive just ordered the upgraded sony 6 disc changer and with Chrimbo on the way, funds are running out!! Anyone got any idea how much the lowering springs will cost me fitted from Ford? Also, how much do the Ford approved springs drop the car by? Andy
  14. Hi all, hate to prove you all wrong  but........There is a power steering fluid top up bottle. It is hidden under the drivers side headlamp, in behind the wheel arch!!! I only know this cause I upgraded the headlamps to zetec ones on my tdci ghia, and as I removed the drivers headlamp - guess what I found sitting there!! However, dont be too worried as the headlamps are only held in by one screw and take all of 30 seconds to remove!! Im sure it would have been a better idea to have somekind of visual check available from within the engine bay, but theres nothing. As I said, its
  15. 225's will fit, but according to Ford, you need to have a steering rack limiter fitted. Theres a bit about it in the MS Design brochure for the Focus. Andy
  16. If I wanted to upgrade, I would have had to wait for the car to be built!!! Thought it was easier to just get the car and pay for some after market wheels. Oh well, the joys of motoring and empty wallets!!!!! Andy
  17. Hi all, Ive had my car for 2 weeks now and from the start, I hated the Ghia alloys.. Therefore, I have invested in some OZ Star 5 rims and also added the zetec/titanium dark headlights. What are your thoughts?? http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/ ... ure008.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/ ... ure003.jpg Andy
  18. Its easy to change. Try to get your dealer to do it for free first of all!!!! If not, then buy the new badge and stick it on! The old badge is easily removed if you take a bit of time. I have found that the easiest method is to spray around the letters with WD40 and leave for 2 mins to soak and loosen the glue. They should then peel off with minimum effort, as this is such a new car. Andy
  19. If your doing that kinda mileage its gotta be the 2.0ltr as the economy is great on a run - the sixth gear makes a lotta difference! Granted, Ive only had mine a week or so, but average motorway mpg is currently sitting at 57  , and thats at an average speed of around 75mph Andy
  20. Gary, dont worry mate, it must be a titanium as if you have got the sony cd with aux input, thats standard. I only got the crappy looking ford unit in my ghia !!!!! Although I would be asking for a new badge if I was you!!! Andy
  21. Hi all, There is a recall out for the 2.0 tdci focus which requires that the car be plugged into wds and software loaded. Ive just had my car a week and its fine so far, however, the dealer has told me that they were unable to do the recall as they didnt have the disk with the correct software. I will get mine done at the 1500 mile inspection. However, Im having trouble finding out what the recall is for....I have asked on here a couple of times, but no-one seems to know?? If it involves a software load, then surely there is an issue within the ECU which needs to be addressed? Who knows -
  22. M Looks like your gonna have to take that lead off your boot!!!! Andy
  23. Cheers M - I got the diesel and MPG at the mo is averaging 57mpg (mainly motorway) according to the computer!! Mind you, Im still running her in - that figure will soon be dropping off a bit!!!! Andy
  24. Hi all, There are lots of posts within this forum with people complaining about their new cars. Although Ive only had mine a week, I have to say that Im delighted with mine - its so much smoother and more refined than my previous TDCi Sport. Anyway, thought I would take the opportunity to launch a quick poll - are you happy with yours?? Andy oops- sorry peeps, caqnt get the poll facility to work? Anyone open one up on my behalf? I think its due to restrictions on my work pc. **Added Poll RS**
