  1. peejay1977, I would be grateful if you could expand on what you said, have you had any experience with Bluefin or any of the other tuning boxes with the 1.6 TDCI engine? I haven't heard of any injector failures on the fourm? There's no mention of the 1.6TDCI engine on the Bluefin wbsite.
  2. Our previous max which is now in the hands of the father in law used to have a problem which sounds similar. The Power would die and you would have to wait a couple of mins before you could start the engine. Very frustrating and dangerous in my opinion. The car went to the dealers about 5 times before they finally fixed it, the second EGR vavle cured it and it's been fine ever since. Both my wifes max and mine have not had this problems.
  3. All done and dusted. The plastic guides are supplied by the seat manufacturer in this case Britax. The plastic guides took a few seconds to fit and each seat with Isofix base took approx 1 minute to fit. Piece of cake !
  4. The EPB only switches on automatically when you switch off the ignition...
  5. Has anyone had to replaced the airflow meter/sensor on their Max? What symtoms would a failed one cause and how much do they cost to replace?
  6. Well done to 8skellerns for proposing to expand the humble little focus forum!
  7. Cheers madmp3 and taztddi much appreciated !
  8. The wife is getting bigger by the day and it won't be long now before we have 2 new arrivals. I know this subject has been covered in the past but I haven't been able to obtain the info I need from searching through the posts. Please could someone help with the following questions. 1) Do the seat manufactuers supply plastic guides as well as ford? 2) Are the plastic guides really needed? 3) Can you use a top teather with the c-max and if so where does it fit? Can anyone recomend an isofix base and seat? Thanks much appreciated.
  9. 21 members now. 8skellerns have you inadvertantly started the migration of the C-Max members to www.cmaxownersclub.co.uk Like the idea about sharing info on platforms as well as engines, good idea !! Not sure if they will be
  10. I have sent you a PM Monkeeboy.
  11. I had a good experience with Ford customer service a couple of weeks ago. Our intercooler pipe failed which had already been repaired under warranty 13 months prior. They payed 80% good will towards the 165 pounds cost. It was all sorted in 3 days and they contacted me via e-mail and phone and they also spoke to the dealer to arrange the work, they even called me afterwards to make sure I was happy with the work. Excellent service far exceeded my expectations.
  12. I was told 125 pounds each by Stevenage Ford. They come as a kit with some other parts,
  13. 32,000 miles seems low for new discs, I suppose there are lots of factors invovled though. Mine max have covered approx 57,000 miles now and discs ok all round, with EPB.
  14. Andy, Do you work for the Marshal PR Dept or are you on commission?
  15. Our Goodyear NCT's lasted 30,000 front and there was still loads of tread left on the rears..Wouldn't buy them again though, they lack grip in all conditions and tend to wallow round corners due to the soft side wall. Conti Premium Contact 2's are a very good compromise of wear and grip.
  16. Your choice Andy, But remember there are thousands of other components which can and will fail. Just checked on our Warranty Direct policies and both our maxes have the EGR valve covered. We have the Diamond Cover with one and gold cover on the other, they cover all components of the vehicle originally fitted as standard by the manufacturer except those listed as an exluded component which include tyres, contanimated fuel, cat, brake pads etc. Good piece of mind for 15 pound per month.
  17. Ford checked the car out and can't find anything wrong, the bearings and suspension are all fine.....It's a mystery..... The rear bearings are approx 125 pounds each as they change the hub or something also.
  18. Bob, you've got exactly the same problem as us. I think you may have found the solution though. Wheel bearings, I'll get mine checked out. Once the tyres go out of shape, they've had it they only get worse no matter how much tread is left. Sounds to me like you have fixed the cause of the problem (the bearings) wheel alignment won't repair a damaged uneven tyre. You should be ok if you just replace the tyres. I've got exactly the same problem but I replaced the tyres and had the wheel alignment and still have the problem or rippling noisey tyres. I'm off for new wheel bearings. Thanks
  19. Just look at the emmisions on the registration certificate compare it to the ford website or DVLA websites couldn't be easier.
  20. Behind the fog light, that is lower than I thought !
  21. With all this flooding can someone tell me which side the air intake is located and the height from the ground. I drove through over a foot of water last week and the oncoming Astra broke down along with four other cars, but the Max made it through ok. I did go up on the kerb so managed to get one side higher than the other but would like to know where the air intake is for future submarining. I know it's not advisable but I really had no choice.
  22. I thought exactly the same as you cannondaler when we bought our first ghia max. Previously had the Zetec model. But after a few months it grew on me and it doesn't bother me anymore and now I actually prefer it to the fake plastic aluminium inserts. At least the walnut is quite dark, where as previous Focus used to have a much brighter walnut. I certainly wouldn't waste any time or money changing it.
  23. Surely if you tell Ford that it has happened on both your cars then they may suggest that it is impact damage. That somewhere (possibly near your property) there are raised kerbs or pot holes that the inside of the rear tyres are being dragged along when making a manouvere. Interesting thought. Just wonder why it's not happened on any of our previous cars. Can't think of any pot holes or rasied kerbs though..
