  1. Agree with what you say - sometimes its just a matter of luck what any dealer is like. It may be that you only notice how bad a dealer is when you have to return time and time again. I noticed on my first visits to my local Ford dealer that there were other frustrated Cmax owners in reception and talking to them was a bit like this forum - i.e. I heard about all of the usual problems. My wifes Toyota Avensis has only been in for warranty work twice (I think) and after over 7 years is still going strong.
  2. Gepard Cheers for the help. Andy thanks for your PM :P Jack17 why do you bother?
  3. I understand what you say RTV but if your local dealer treats you like this then either Ford needs to deal with them or like anything else in life you vote with your feet and go elsewhere...and if there isnt another 'decent' dealer nearby then it makes sense to me to change manufacturers. Incidentally I have had two japanese cars in the past and IMO the dealers and the cars are far more reliable than Ford. I must add though that my local Ford dealer in Newcastle has been a good help once I managed to get them on board.
  4. I am having difficulty sending PM's they seem to get stuck in the outbox and never get sent. Does anyone have any ideas where I am going wrong or is this facility just for fully paid up members now. I note that others seem to have had this problem. cheers
  5. 2.0TDCi I get only 35mpg but this is city centre driving mostly. I love longer journies just so that I can play with the computer
  6. How familiar! I would not buy another C Max. My choice now would be the 2.2 TD Verso preferably a T180!
  7. Not sure but I would try Ford CRC - they had a recall on water ingression on the rear wiper and this caused shorting so they may be a bit keener to help you. Particularly if the cost is not too high. I have had the lock changed twice due to this problem.
  8. Per my invoice (3/8/07) the full cost - parts, labour & VAT was £325 before any contribution from Ford (I managed a 60% contribution but know others have done better) . My car is a Fully Ford serviced - April 2004 2.0TDCi. If it is the EGR have a word with the service manager. I understand that they have the discretion to allow 40% contribution without contacting Ford.
  9. not sure but if you are still under warranty I would move on down to your local dealer to check it out!
  10. Good on you Andy. As JonJon said I would also try the Ford CRC. When my EGR went outside of warranty the local dealer offerd 40% goodwill without me asking and this is the first (and possibly last) Ford I have bought, and it was a Ford Direct car. I eventually got 60% goodwill and my next service free so give it a try. Be firm, polite and above all persistent. I think I would probably try and argue that the motor is unlikely to have been used excessively so should not have failed at such an early stage.
  11. looking at the reg it would seem to be a management car registered in Essex! Is he looking for the section "what to do when the EGR packs in"?
  12. No but have dealt with a few unscrupulous dealers. One thing I love about buying a car is the sporting fun of haggling with the salesman.
  13. Peejay I had a similar experience in York. I had the rear brake squeeling issue. They said they couldn't find the fault but - I received a call from them at 5.20 saying the car was ready but they were closing at 5.30. I picked the car up the next day and the invoice (under warranty) was printed car started on 16:49 and finished at 17:58. a claim for 1.2 hours work. I reported this to Ford CRC who replied that they could not comment. I even asked them if they were concerned that the dealer may be making a fraudulent claim for work but they couldnt care. cjamesy When car dealers sel
  14. Yeah the verso T180 and the Avensis Tourer T180 appeal to me. Having said that If I have the money an Audi A4 Avant 2.0T may be the car as the residuals are excellent. My wife has an Avensis 1.8SE mk 1 and this has been trouble free since new in 2000, so would definitely recommend Toyota.
  15. Without naming the dealership please explain why you think the invoice has been fiddled with. I have no connection with any dealer but I am curious to know.
