  1. Quite often (on older cars) there's a hole underneath - between the handle and the door card - that you have to push a small screwdriver or pin into, and this releases the handle. There's like a spring-loaded catch inside. HTH
  2. Thanks. But the hesitation at the roundabout situation is something I'd like to avoid - it didn't do it in the Golf 2.0 TDi DSG Auto I tried.
  3. Well miy (CVT Auto) has these specific setups too, but after a few thousand miles trying each, I cant really say I notice much difference. I couldnt even say what its set on at the moment! please also note that it saves the settings to the key, so if you happen to use each key in your normal use, you may be using different settings unless you saved it to both! Sandalsman. MPG of 39 doesnt sound bad - whats driveability, acceleration like - and especially pulling away from stationary? (my CVT is particualry bad at pick up - it takes half-second before it moves - not good for "nipping out in f
  4. Shame its an auto petrol as Im still looking for opinions on diesel powershift 2.0 My 1.6TDCi CVT Auto does about 40-42mpg indicated on trip computer (was 42 but after service they reset it so its building up again to 42!)
  5. With the difference in price of diesel to petrol now, I wouldn't have thought that only doing 10k+ a year was enough to warrant going for a diesel. Having said that, I have a 1.6TDCi and its not underpowered (110ps). But then I've done 26k in 14months. Its an auto, too. If its a new car they are looking at then you cant get Ghia trim now anyway - Titanium sort of took over from Ghia so spec is similar. I have a Ghia - I suspect a Titanium gives you leather. You may get a better/more accurate answer by specifying what age of car you are looking at. HTH
  6. I just drove my daughters New Fiesta (handbrake on righ) and it didn't feel "right" at all! - so i think left s a good place! More to the point, Sandalsman, whats the new Powershift 2.0TDCi like? I have a 1.6 TDCi CVT and would like to replace it with the powershift if I hear some good reports! Its been a long time coming!
  7. My 57 Ghia did it tonight, although I never noticed it before. It was -2.
  8. No, I don't have a heated screen (more's the pity) but I can imagine that the SatNav sensitivity might be a bit reduced by the elements. You can get remote SatNav aerials if you have problems, I think.
  9. No, no, no, Twiz - replacement aero rubbers are all you need! See link: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/aandyat ... _nkwZQQ_ar mrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ about £12 for a pair of rubbers. No-one should ever have to pay Frauds £50+ again for wipers. Although, if I knew it was icy I would turn the auto-wipe off before I started, just in case!
  10. Ronaldo, Immediately under the storage box the radio connector is visible, so all power/light/earth etc will be there. Bring the cables up through one of the three holes (the holes are there to hold the rubber mat in place in the storage unit - just cut one of the rubber dimples off that is moulded to the mat to make room for cables). I have only "installed" my TomTom with velcro - when the lid is open it sits on the front edge/lip of the storage unit and the top of theTomTom just sits under the top edge of the open lid. Two pieces of velcro, top and bottom, hold it in place. The cable com
  11. The storage box is just clipped in and will "just" pull out - but I found it easier to get it started by removing the radio (I had it out anyway) and pushing up on the storage unit from below. If you dont want to take out the radio - pull out the rubber mat inside the unit and there are three holes in the bottom. Use these with a suitable tool to start pulling the unit upwards - but once you get it going, its easy. Ive mounted a sat-nav in it thats hidden away when the lid is closed.
  12. My auto-wipers (57 Ghia) too are frustrating - wait too long before they wipe when its wet, but will also wipe too long when the screen's dry. No happy medium - have tried all sensitivity settings - second from bottom is best for me - what do others have theirs set to? I also discovered that moving the 'sens' one position and back again would give a single wipe - but its frustrating.
  13. I have a "hint" if you are going to replace the rubbers: It may seem obvious, but before you pull the end-cap off, check to see which end of the existing rubber is "tethered" i.e. which end has the metal tag holding the rubber in place. To do this just get hold of the rubber and see if it moves - at one end, it moves/slides easily - at the other end it doesn't move at all - and that's the end you want to pull the cap from!
  14. I'll echo Andydajo - good price, efficient service, easy to replace, and they do the job superbly. Shame he doesn't sell rear ones as I had to buy one separately.
  15. I've noticed this (07 1.6TDCi Auto) I thought it was me going mad! It sort of goes "all light" before it slows down! (Normal shoes, too!)
