  1. I could only find the Bosch Aerotwin blade wipers in Halfords for VW's or Skoda's. Silly thing is I've just bought a MkII Focus that has the same type of wipers so I'm going to be in a similar boat for those as well! :( gh.
  2. Ah thanks for that - think it will be the whole wipers. Its a shame cos we still have the passenger side one left from the previous pair we bought, but I don't suppose that will fit the drivers side? gh.
  3. Seem to remember the best place to get the windscreen wipers was from an eBay shop - anyone remember which one it was? Think they were Bosch wipers or something, anyway significantly cheaper than Ford. Or, can you buy them in Halfords these days? Cheers, gh.
  4. Noticed a problem recently that the tailgate gets stuck closed. If I attempt to use the remote on the key to open it, I can hear a click, but the boot isn't released. I can't use the "pressure pad/switch" on the actual tailgate itself, as it doesn't respond. The only way to open it is to manually use the key in the boot which then releases it. Then suddenly after that you can use the remote as normal, until it randomly sticks again. I've only noticed this since its last service (25000 miles service), when the only extra work they did was to improve the mpg (was averaging about 43mpg, now more
  5. Hmmm... I might just answer my own question: Oh well. I don't have an Aux button, only a CDDJ button which I think is for use with a multidisc changer. CD's for me then ;) gh.
  6. Ahh thanks for that - I assume those FM transmitters are all legal and stuff and don't interfere with any FM type transmission or anything? gh.
  7. Is there any way of connecting an iPod in to the standard ford CD player that comes with an 04 C-Max Zetec? Cheers, gh.
  8. Nah heated windscreen only de-ices in my experience...
  9. It looks like it is already set to manual then - just scroll through the config options (hold down the Menu button, then right arrow till it gets to the time, just after the 12/24 hour setting), then use the volume dial to change the time. gh.
  10. Looks great mate, but just one thing - I think you've been had... your steering wheel is on the wrong side... ;) gh.
  11. I'm going to France so apparently need the bulb kit, warning triangle, GB sticker (got the GB number plate) and headlamp deflectors (yet to find some that actually peel off easily at the end of the holiday!!). Thanks for the details about the bulbs, my other car is due for visit to the Ford garage next week so I will ask them what I need to be covered. gh.
  12. I am taking the C-Max abroad on holiday this year and so I popped in to Halfords to buy my obligatory spare bulb kit, only to find the C-Max is too new to have a bulb kit for it. They had one for a Focus model 2001 onwards - would this do the job? Or do I need to go to Ford and buy the individual bulbs? Any ideas? Cheers
  13. Our first service found the same problem with our 2.0 tdci - they replaced the oil hose thingy and also found a problem with a turbo vacuum thing or something. All replaced under warranty.
  14. Our 04 CMax with 11k on the clock averages about 43mpg on normal every day journeys with it maxing out (excuse the pun) at 48mpg on a long run - I mentioned it at the first service to our Ford garage and he said, wait till the second service before mentioning poor fuel economy to let it settle in!!! :?
  15. I haven't checked my C-Max badge, but the corrosion around the chrome trim seems to be a bit of a problem with my Focus Ghia - it is, admittedly, 6 years old, but around the chrome bit on the boot (above the number plate), there is rather a lot of corrosion and some rust coming through. Seems to only be a problem there, the rest of the car is fine, even on the bonnet and the wheelarches where I have had problems with rust on previous Fords. I haven't done anything about it on the Focus, because it is old and I am running it in to the ground, but it may be a concern for the C-Max which is only
  16. I have heard a lot about checking the ECU or software version on these forums, but have no idea how to check mine. I have a 2.0 TDCi Zetec, and have looked through the trip computer, but can't find any options anywhere. Also what is the latest version, so I know which one I should have? Cheers gh.
  17. Ah this might answer my question too then... I have a 6000CD which won't update automatically from RDS, it will only allow me to manually set it. Does it need a software update to automatically update from RDS? Cheers gh.
  18. I have a 2.0tdci zetec and get about 38mpg (with 5k on the clock), though worked it out myself to be more like 41mpg, which I'm quite pleased with as the journeys we do are not usually more than about 25 miles on various road types. Looking forward to taking it on a longer drive over Easter, when I should get a better idea. I haven't driven the 1.6, but have to say the 2.0 is a hoot - loads of torque and the 6 speed 'box allows you to be happy cruising along at motorway speeds with low engine noise. Only problem is it has the torque at approaching illegal speeds, so you never really get the
  19. Mine is the same as AlunS's ... it dangles... never considered it a problem. At least its more out of the way in its dangling on the cmax than it is on my focus... gh.
  20. We have had our C-Max for a week now and love it... but on the day we got it, we drove it in the rain and noticed two dry muddy patches on the handle for the boot that provides the housing for the rear reg. plate. Upon further investigation it seems they are in line with the lights for the plate... is this something to be concerned about, or just normal behaviour? I have to say, it is not something I have ever noticed with any other car, and seems a bit of a design fault if it is normal. Cheers gh.
  21. Valid point ;) I'd say... I'll take the wife's car today then ;) gh.
  22. We picked up our used C-Max on Saturday and have done 150 miles in it... its done 4000 miles in total... we got an average of about 39 mpg for the short runs we've taken it on... so I'm guessing it gets better as you go along. I'm looking forward to taking it on a long run down the motorway. gh.
  23. I had a similar on my Focus hatch when I first got it... the fix was a new boot release button/mechanism in the car on the dashboard. Don't know if Maxi's have such a thing, but might be something to get checked. gh.
