My 2.0 Petrol has a lining under the bonnet, so I shouldnt suffer from this.

Ford windscreens have the Ford logo on them.

What is the insurance excess for people on here for a new screen? I've just had a renewal come through, and my excess has gone up from £65 to £75.

Now that Ford have officially removed the link to the Focus with the new Focus C-Max simply being called C-Max, will this forum slowly become redundant, as it no longer will have ties to the Focus?

If you have got to spend money on a 1.6 to make it perform like a bigger enigne, you might as well buy the bigger engine in the first place, instead of risking blowing up injectors, pumps etc, and bumping up your insurance premium. Also, If I wanted a 1.6 in the future, I wouldnt want one that had been run out of spec in the past.

To be honest, no diesel warms up as quick as a petrol engine, as they run cooler. I dont know why some say that the 1.8 is surplus, as it is still being manufactured, and it is being used in the New 2007 Mondeo! It would be a big shame if they stopped making it, as it is the best Diesel engine IMO that ford create for small vehicles.

10.8 seconds to 62mph and 9.5 seconds 31-62mph on the 115PS Stage IV emissions engine, of which is the most refined. The 1.8 TDCi Connect has 90ps, whereas the 1.8 TDCi Focus has 115PS and the Galaxy has 125PS! Amazing how they can scale the power on one engine.

1. Do you really think that Ford would slate its new engines? I Dont think so!! 2. TDCI sno has already explained the 4th gear pull 3. Well I have, and I work in a Ford dealership. 4. I dont think that the 1.8 is old, crude, and not economical. The latest generation of the 1.8 engine has virtually no diesel tinkling at all, even under full throttle and the turbo boosting at full pelt. It shares allot of the new technology that the PSA/Ford engine does, such as TDCi, high pressure injection, Euro IV emissions etc etc etc. This engine as used in the Transit connect, once off idle revs, sou

Take the injectors out, and drain the water. You maybe lucky, but at worst, the conrods could have bent. Do it quickly though, as you dont want the cylinder walls and piston rings to corrode. -
Both the 1.6 and the 2.0 suffer from blow by on the injector seals, requiring them to be replaced. The 1.6 and 2.0 TDCi units are the diesel engines that are most claim on under Ford warranty. The mechanics at work joke that its french, so cheap and nasty! The 1.8 is a bit more noisy, but it is built like a brick house, and rarely goes wrong. If one can stand upto 200,000 miles being cained in a Transit connect, focus, c-max or s-max, then it cant be bad!

Personally, I much prefer the 1.8 over the 1.6.

Very cool audio system for Focus MK2
8skellerns replied to 8skellerns's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Sat Nav functionality could be added, as it has the GPS aerial and the sat nav ports on the back of the unit. I assume it must run on a custom version of Win CE etc, so could be upgraded? -

A question for the TDCI owners

I wouldnt say that you have to change gear any differently on a diesel car compared to a petrol. I find you still have to change gear at the same speeds. Did you have the old or the new shape ranger, as they are a world apart from each other. -

Get used to the noise, and get used to the take off wheelspin when pulling out quick at a junction! -
If some on here cant reverse a Focus, I hope you never have to reverse a Transit Jumbo Minibus!  One of the Drivers at work had to reverse one, and stopped when he heard the bang, and told no-one after causing £500 worth of damage to a brand new Fiesta's door.
