  1. mk1 or mk2? facelift/pre-facelift. what year? it can be retrofitted if you already have ABS, but requires a new ABS unit with ESP.. as Traction Assist is built into the ESP system, usually new loom, and sensor that sits under the drivers seat as well as the button.
  2. on that multiplug, there is also a red and black wire. those are for the 230v inverter option. red and orange ones are as said previously for the cigarette lighter. Havent checked.. so I dont know, but the difference might be 1 pair is siwtched so its only on with the ignition.. 1 pair is constant live. also, the 2 for the 230v option might not be fused as its used with a fixed 230v option..which would be a fixed load unlike the cigarette lighter/12v power socket which is loaded depending on what you plug into it.
  3. hi, yep I just removed mine, when you remove, be carefull because 1 of the rubber bits that hold it on, they tend to come out and get lost. when i got my car 1 was missing, then brought a new 1 (they are listed under the 2.0 TDCi engine on the galaxy btw.. for some reason ford didnt consider adding them on the focus diagram) few weeks later after having a new 1 I removed the cover and lost it again... so im on the 3rd 1 now lol.
  4. oh right:S.. least you got the right 1 now though:) let us know if it makes much difference.
  5. you just remove existing OEM air filter and replace with performance K&N filter. dont need to do anything with the airbox. it is the same, because its something ford seem to of standardised.. also the cone filter has a better airflow than the panel filter which was why they changed it on the facelift.
  6. got some images now lol, ive commented them to show what everything is. Excuse the state of my engine bay lol, needs cleaning its all the salt off the roads and stuff.. It was clean before christmas had it cleaned by the same guy who did the paintwork. the Y branch on the intake manifold is strange.. just checked, it actually branches off the pipe from the turbo going into the hot side of the intercooler.. so it maybe to bypass the intercooler at low revs to make it more free flowing, as well as to help the engine warm up quicker. But I dont think that existed prior to the facelift, cone fil
  7. yep, cant find any pics at the moment on the internet lol.. but I noticed it in the haynes manual. they had a pic of the MK2 2.0 TDCi engine with the engine cover removed.. and the intake manifold if followed went towards the front slam panel and branched off 1 way towards the left and down to presumebly the intercooler... and also they used a panel filter previously as far as I know.. you might be able to confirm on yours? but on mine, the intake and induction assembly looks completely different to the pic in the haynes manual, has a cone filter.. which I understand is the same as the 1
  8. yep, they are all pretty much the same now, the cone type. if i can remember its just 4 self tapping bolts. 5 most around the edge. then the top lifts off... can be a bit fidly to get the new 1 in though because you need to make sure the roun plastic disk on the end fits into the bottom half and the top when you fit it and that the other side is a good fit over the intake pipe. lol something apparently ford couldnt manage at their ford direct reconditioning place/in the factory. I changed mine some months ago, and found the one already installed in the car was all crumpled and to the p
  9. on the facelift, they changed the panel filter for a round type one, because they seem to of completely revised the intake assembly. Even the intake manifold is different from what I could see in the haynes manual. Pre facelift, at the very front.. slam panel end the intake manifold just branched off 1 way towards the left then down to presumably the intercooler. But on the facelift they altered it, now it follows towards the slam panel, and splits off 2 ways with a kind of Y piece. havent really taken much notice to follow where the pipes branch off to.. but I presume its some kind of
  10. if the wiring isnt there, its just a patch loom as far as I know. I know theres a patch loom for it, which should plug in and give you all the wiring you need. dont think theres a specific engine bay loom for it, because when i looked before I couldnt see any mention of headlamp washers on the engine bay loom. only things like aux fuel heater, HID/adaptive headlamps etc. Will check on mine when I get a chance to pull the wheel arch liner out. but if you follow the washer bottle wiring back it should come to a connector you can unplug to swap the jumper loom out for a headlamp washer + flui
  11. heated seats, dds and power button are now standard on the titanium should have an aux socket in the glovebox.
  12. I think they only started putting the sensor on cars with headlampp washers
  13. lol wasnt far off then, its a bit more i think if you have headlamp washers. when i looked at the parts diagram it showed a 2nd resevior attached to the main 1.
  14. oh right, lol, havent actually removed 1 myself. Inspektor has though recently. So he should be able to help. usually just a couple of screws and / clips
  15. nope, but my guess would be on cold mornings, glowplugs probably run for a short while after the engine is started, or with heated screen/ electric aux heater on (standard on diesel models, but completely automatic).. it drains power from the cluster. which effects it. Some people have also reported how the red screen will slightly flicker/dim.. which is supposed to be to do with the smart charging system on the alternator.
  16. may I ask why you want to remove the front? lol once the cluster is out, I would imagine its just clipped and/or screwed on.
  17. It must be a titanium only thing then and ghia on pre-facelift. As mine has 1 touch up and down all around. If I can remember correctly the Global opening and closing is also only on the prefacelift Ghia, and titanium. So that might be why I have 1 touch up and down all around, as its tied in with the global opening / closing. Id bet though its only configured on IDS. lol kind of like the Deflation detection system.. another option which is on every facelift car pretty much.. just left disabled unless you pay extra money for the option.
  18. mine definitely has 1 touch down and 1 touch up. as well as global opening and closing. the 1 touch up is part of global closing as far as I know so it might only of been enabled on the titanium.. so I suspect it can be enabled on IDS. also, note that if you disconnect the battery for any reason the windows need re-initializing which would also stop the 1 touch up working for safety reasons, that is done using the instructions posted above.
  19. I will try and post some re-written instructions up, I cant post the original because its copyright material.
  20. Hi, there should be a sprung tensioner that you can move aside to put the belt on.. its usually part of 1 of the rollers
  21. hi, yep it will probably be quite a job as the wheel, and wheel arch liner all need removing.
  22. they will only work when the heated front screen is on.. like with the mirrors
  23. same here:) im really hoping it will be good, because if not I will have to find the next best car:( possibly an audi lol. as I do alot of miles and cant really keep a car longer than 18 months. havent had the car since june and done 18k miles:S.. would be a shame to not be able to trade it in for a newer focus... as the focus is a really good car, reasonably prices, handles great, and reasonably equipped in terms of spec and options.
  24. probably just the front subframe, the way the engine and gearbox is mounted, and suspension setup. rear suspension wouldnt of been carried over from the mondeo, because it was the focus rear control blade suspension that set new standards, and ford pretty much carried that over from the mk1 with just a few technical modifications. new focus is set on a completely new platform, shared with the new C-Max.
