I hired a Focus 1.6 TDCi 1.6 110BHP and got about 43 MPG. I average 47 MPG in my 1.9TDi Audi A4, so i was very dissapointed with the Focus fuel consumption.

Just got a brand new Focus TDCI LX delivered for use tomorrow. Is the radio and mileage light supposed to stay on when you lock the doors ? Hope the battery will not be flat tomorrow :roll:

I would scrap the Sony unit, and fit my Blaupunkt Los Angeles MP3 player if I bought a Focus.

Thanks, I presume that is the old Focus interior as 18,000 miles in one day seems a bit excessive. :D

The new TomTom Go 500 and 700 also control a mobile phone with bluetooth handsfree built in, so that also eliminates the need for the Ford bluetooth option :) (and you can add a safety camera POI database for free) http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/p3325

A TomTom Go system is better than any overpriced manufacturer option. The leather and a TomTom Go for £400 is a great combination. :)

This is exactly the reason I park in the mother and child bays :roll: 5 feet either side :lol: If anyone questions me (they never have), I will just say my 6 kids are still in the shop :lol:

I drove past another new Focus today, and never even noticed it was there until I had just driven past it. It seems I never notice them until they have driven past me, and then I say to myself, oh, that was a new Focus I think. :mrgreen: This proves they are not worth looking at. The mark 1 Focus is much better to look at and gets noticed, and I saw an 05 reg one today, so I am not the only one that is not impressed with the new look.

I might not love the look of the new Focus....but what else is out there ? I need a diesel car, and it must have good sound system :D , and would like to keep my Blaupunkt MP3 head unit as it sounds great in my Audi A4 with 6 speakers. Definitely not an Astra I thought I preferred the look of the Citroen C4, but not so sure now. I like the look of the Renault Megane, and maybe Skoda Octavia. Maybe I will end up with a Mondeo. I have a few months yet to make up my mind. :D There is definitely no such thing as the perfect car for under £18K

errr ? Every way :P It is a car that nobody notices because it looks so bland. :roll: I remember on Top Gear when they parked one on a busy high street with hidden cameras, and nobody looked at it :D

It looks nice in silver :D I had virtually gone off the idea of getting a focus having seen it in dark colours. Silver makes it a lot less ugly than what it really is, so If I did get one it would have to be silver. The only problem is I do not really want a silver car :(

It's UGLY. Looks like an old Sierra or a Daewoo :D

Like you I enjoy that new car "smell". I have a feeling someone produced an air freshener called "New Car" or something similar but I can't remember who made it :!: Perhaps someone else knows of it... I don't think I'm going :x just yet :wink: You can get one called 'New Rover' ........ It smells like a chinese :lol: :lol:

I have driven various rental cars in the last 12 months, such as whizzpopper Astra, Ford Focus , Toyota Corolla T3, Peugeot 307, Honda Jazz, whizzpopper Meriva. These were all nearly brand new vehicles with less than 5000 miles on the clock(some less than 100 :D). None of the petrol models has done better than 37mpg on a long run approx 160 miles. Diesel models seem to average about 45mpg. My style of driving is not hanging about, and mainly motorway/cross country trips :wink: My own vehicle is an Audi A4 1.9tdi and I average 47mpg.

Just seen pics of the estate on here, and it looks much better than the saloon in my view. I could live with the estate, but it's not very exciting.

The back totally ruins the look for me. I prefer the Megane or Citroen C4 for looks :D At least the French know how to design a nice car, but it is a shame they have such a poor reputation. I need a new car this year so will have to test drive my shortlist which also includes Skoda Octavia. My needs are quiet high speed motorway cruising, good handling, and good fuel economy, and long service intervals. :D

I think the old model looks better. I expect the Mark 2 to have a facelift for october registrations. I want to like it, but it looks so ugly.
