  1. Hmmm.. the price for the speaker upgrade is silly. I'll stick with the original speakers and keep the volume at an elderly level I think... I know that having good ICE in your car is important, but step back and look at the costs people... £160 for the speakers and then labour??!?!? I use my car for driving and like loud music when I am not with the kids or missus, but my choice of the Sony Mp3 unit was so that I could use the AUX input (for a HD mp3 system) and also that it played mp3's from the CD direct - GREAT. I'm sure the original speakers will be OK - As I could often turn the F
  2. Yes... Sorry, it was me - But he has loads of head units on sale frequently. I wont be getting the manual so wondered if anyone has either a spare, a PDF or can scan the main functions including AUX in for me? £150 was to me a fair price to pay for it... so long as it all works well! Gav
  3. This would be quite useful. I am on the case right now - Contacted Greyhound Ford Accrington via email as I need this part when my Sony head unit arrives... Will post the details when they get back to me. Gav
  4. I've just bought a Sony single CD with mp3 playback... Will all the wiring looms just work straight away including the Steering column? Will my original speaker be good enough for day to day listening or do the speaker upgrades make a REALLY huge difference.... I want to stick with my original speakers, so try to comfort me here! Gav PS... I'm also looking for a part number for the AUX lead that goes to the glove compartment!
  5. The galaxy ones are the most crystal ones I have seen. I fitted them instead of the clear Ford Focus/Fiesta ones. EDIT : Make sure you use the butt of a knife/spoon/whatever to expand the hole a very small amount. Gav
  6. Erm... there are many threads on this subject... I eventually got the Galaxy ones and just needed to stretch the hole the bulb went in... piece of cake!! Gav
  7. My 53 reg plate has the keyhole and the microswitch.. Looks like they have just dumped the keyhole..
  8. Is it worth getting this work done even though my car doesn't have this problem? i.e. tell them it's intermittent.
  9. Shocking! I'll be leaving my car in gear if I remember in future. This is clearly a case of dealers passing the buck... this has to stop, so please get in touch with the BBC (watchdog), the local press, national press and if nessesary your local MP... Ultimately the Ford Motor Company must ensure that dealers are protecting the Ford name. I hope that everyone involved manages to get over this without any damage to confidence. All the best - You've got ALL our support on these boards... there are too many shoddy Ford dealers. Gav
  10. Greyhound Ford in Accington have an excellent bloke called Neil on the Parts department. He really did a good job in finding out more regarding hooking up an MP3 player to the C-Max standard ICE (Ford/Visteon 6000CD). He gave me the following info... can anyone follow up? FINIS : 1364230 Price : £244.00 Desc : CD Player Auto Changer AUX 6CD Changer. if anyone can look into this I shall grant ye health and happiness.
  11. Do NOT use CD Bramall in Blackburn, Lancashire. Instead use Evans Halshaw in Preston, Lancashire.
  12. I've recently noticed something which is making me ponder if it's going to be a problem. It's a slight pause somewhere in 4th gear when accelerating. It doesn't always happen, nut when it does it's something like dipping the clutch for a moment.... then again, I tend to drive with my foot 'resting' on the clutch so I guess it could be me that is to blame and not my Maxine. Everyone complains of creaks and noises from the interior/exterior, but these are common place in many cars. Gav
  13. Will the older C-Max's ever have these features enabled??? Or are they dependant on parts that are only in the newer cars.... In other words, are these features software based? Gav
  14. I doubt they are supposed to charge you for software updates...
  15. What was the outcome of this? It's just that I am thinking of going the same route and wanted to know of any problems. Ta
  16. OK - So the white (12pin) plug must contain the AUX input wires somewhere. Can you grab a piccy of the wires going into the white plug?... This way I can ensure that I get the right lead from Ford.... Ta... Ooooo Also, where do the wires disappear to? Can you see them going out and towards the Glove Compartment or do they just go with the flow. LASTLY... If I dont take the SONY route and go third party head unit and leads etc.... Can anyone recommend a setup that is DAB with AUX in.... and how much did the job lot cost? (Part numbers if you have em too!)- I don't ask for much eh? Gav
  17. Can anyone take a digital piccy of the back of the Sony Unit? Preferably with the wires still plugged in. Ta
  18. Here's one I have seen on EBay... only problem is it doesn't have a standard PHONO AUX in, which means I'd probably need to go through Ford for an adaptor... any ideas? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW Thanks
  19. I've been on the edge of buying a Ford/Sony head unit for my C-Max to replace the original 6000CD for around 9 months now and there is just one thing holding me back... Will the SONY head unit (6 CD or mp3) support a standard line in, unlike the Ford 6000? I really could do with pictures of the backside of the SONY unit if there is anyone out there with the removal tools and a camera. I need to plug my mp3 player into it y'see, and the FM modulators just are not good enough... I don't want a single DIN unit... I'd like a proper one that fit's perfectly. This also raises the question
  20. 100% agree with the review... It's a shame that he doesn't mention the variable quality of Ford dealers work... he may have had the trim repaired successfully, but there are other dealers such as Ford CD Bramall in Blackburn that ordered a part when I told them that the fuel guage was dropping to empty... I described the problem all of us had where an update of the dash software fixed the problem... yet they actually ordered a part and told me to return the car when it was less than a 1/4 of a tank full... Needless to say I didn't return the car to CD Bramall Blackburn... They have not eve
  21. Disgraceful... We're not complaining because we have to move our heads to see it.... I think we're complaining because Ford know it's an inconvenience to us, yet go ahead and con us RHD owners into REALLY shoddy car manufacturing practices. The Photoshop effort above is a great example that Ford know which way round it WAS supposed to be, but due to saving money, decided to * * * * us right off.
  22. Yowser! I bet we all took a shot of the 1st movie with the car in the AIR! Or did we?
  23. BP....Hmmm... Now then, I remember filling up with BP's supergreen stuff a few weeks back and seem to remember the car feeling a little nippier. I use either regular or Optimax, depending on whether I'm near a Shell station... but I have to say that the BP Ultimate needs a closer look... perhaps one of the regular dare-devils could give this a go? Gav
  24. I have always complained about the handbrake being next to the passengers seat... now I know why and I am not a happy bunny. Again with the heated window buttons.... I'm hating Ford more and more by the minute. :( Someone out there needs to do some investigation and lead the way for a RHD mod. I would be me (seriously!) but now I have kids and all... I never have enough time!
