  1. You'll need a fascia adapter. The standard Ford stereos are quite a bit bigger than the Double DIN standard. You'll also need the mounting cage to go with that and the Ford-to-ISO adapter cables and steering wheel conversions if you have steering wheel controls.
  2. So were the flip keys only available on higher trims? I've got a Mk2.0 06-plate Titanium with the flip keys.
  3. Indeed, certainly the Titanium with the Sony system comes with tweeters AND speakers in every door. If you don't have these rear tweeters, it would most likely be wiring for those.
  4. Out of interest, what issues did you have with your 2.0 TDCIs?! They're generally the most reliable of the TDCIs and the 1.8 is an older, less refined Ford diesel engine. Couldn't see that being MORE reliable?!
  5. I didn't realise not all Mk2s came with a flip key! My 06 Titanium has flip keys, exactly the same as the latest Foci and Mondeo :?
  6. Glad to see it's passed its MOT! :D On the subject of Audis - Audi's engines are the same as that of VW's in the Golf. In fact, I'd take a Golf over an A3 any day. The Golf is much better handling and the ride is a lot more compliant. Although Audi have been getting better in recent years with their suspension, they still ride pretty poorly for a premium hatch.
  7. I think the cabin and general interior of the Golf is of a higher quality, and a bit classier, than the Focus. However, from behind the wheel, looking out at the road ahead and thinking only in terms of driving, I think the Focus is the more accomplished car - hence my purchase into the blue oval 8) However, had the 170ps 2.0 TDI been on my radar at that time, I might have required a lot more convincing to buy Ford
  8. ST is a whole different animal to regular Focus  Lose a TINY bit of MPG and gain quite a bit of steering feel so I think I'd rather have the mechanical PAS! :) Oh well - the EHPAS is still VERY communicative. Far, far better than the light, wooly steering of the Golf I drove today.
  9. Oh, my mistake!! Looks good menzies26 - quite fancy doing that myself. Still gotta get those LED tail lights first
  10. RB2004 - only the 2.0 TDCI and 2.0 petrol are electric hydraulic PAS. The rest are all (better) mechanical pump-driven systems.
  11. You can... if you replace every other body panel (roof aside ;)) as well. Although the facelift was very subtle apart from the front end and boot door, actually every panel is different to the Mk2.0 in terms of fit. It's possible to drop all the panels from the Mk2.5 onto the Mk2.0, but you can't chop and change unfortunately :(
  12. Get your roof looked at  Sorry to hear about the car, mate. Hopefully it won't cost too much to put right :(
  13. Don't take my word for it because I don't know the engine. I've yet to come across any engine you can turbo for less than £2k though, and they're usually £3.5k+. To be honest, with a 1.6 you may as well just save for a new car. You'll then get loads of tuning potential out of a bigger engine, or one that's already turboed, rather than blowing thousands on what will still be a 1.6. Of course, that doesn't take into account the fun you'd have turboing it
  14. You can turbo pretty much any NA petrol but you should be looking at £3.5k-ish to do it.
  15. dippydan, I'm looking at exactly the same LEDs for my black Focus. Can't make my mind up between the black ones or the clear ones. I've had all my rear windows tinted so I'm thinking the black ones will work better. They look quality on yours. :D
  16. It's a bit of a myth that Fords are cheap to repair and service. In many, many cases, parts on the Focus are a lot more expensive than those on the Golf. Some are cheaper though!
  17. No idea, that's what I'm waiting to find out! I'm pretty sure you can though.
  18. Oh right! Sounds interesting. Well I've inquired about sound deadening from a company called Noisekiller. They make engine 'blankets' which I've heard before-and-after on other cars and it makes a real difference. Most interested in lining the wheel arches as the Focus does tend to transfer quite a bit of road and tyre roar into the cabin, compared to the Golf or Astra.
  19. Yeah fair enough :) Although half of me's thinking about ripping out the dash to put a tonne more sound deadening on the firewall before I go on a 3,000 mile European trip this Summer so if you need someone to feel the pain with you...
  20. Well I had to swap out the whole interior of mine to get it to your level so think yourself lucky
  21. Well, as I found out yesterday, my 06-plate Titanium HAS got the loom and sensor but with the original cluster/speedo, it never ever gave me a low level warning. When I inserted the Mk2.5 cluster to test, it suddenly sprung to life. I believe they call that an Epic Win :)
  22. So far as I can see, it only tells you when it's low. When I filled it up, the warning went away! Will have to have a dig around the menu to see if there is a level indicator as I really don't know! Will just have to wait for Steve to get back to me I guess. There's no rush but it would really finish the interior off nicely. That and full leather...
  23. Yeah the studio or style or whatever the entry-level trim is actually has the level 1 cluster come to think of it! I'd forgotten all about that. You're right about the dealer failing, I'm thinking this will probably happen too. I've actually sent Pichacker a message as he offered to do it a few months ago and I'm in Essex on Sunday but he hasn't replied to my messages... he hasn't actually read them yet! Hope he's OK as he hasn't been around here for a while either :? I also remember him saying about manually editing a few lines of code to get it to work. Hmm. If not, I wonder if he'd p
  24. I have a Mk2 2.0 TDCI which has the level 1 cluster. I have acquired a Mk2.5 cluster from a car, lukily, with EXACTLY the same specs and add-ons as mine. Fit it, it works fine apart from starting because of the immobiliser data. It talks to the oval Sony, it gets temperatures and washer fluid levels just fine, etc, etc. Now I know people have coded the immobiliser data from the Mk2's cluster into the level 2 Mk2.5. Pichacker has done this but he has been absent from here of late :? I spoke to a very helpful guy at Ford who said, yes, he could code the immobiliser data into the facelift c
  25. Yes, it's perfectly possible to fit the Mk2.5 LED lights to the Mk2.0 but you'll have to do a bit of rewiring as the wiring is different. Not too difficult if you're handy with that sort of thing. Alternatively, you can get aftermarket LED lights online that are an in-place swap for the Mk2.0 but I personally think the original Mk2.5's LEDs look the best.
