  1. That is definitely the route I'll be following if I cana sell this slightly addled kidney!
  2. Dont think so. The grille does away with the plastic surround, giving a bit more of an 'edgy' look. Think it will work well with the Zetec lights I have fitted. If it becomes a 'goer' I'll inevitably have a chop done first to gauge whether its really worthwhile or not.
  3. Anyone know if the MS Designs Exhaust Trim will fit the 05/06 Focus, without modification to the bumper or an MS Designs Kit?
  4. Just had a nose while the rain subsided for a bit. The lock is connected to the release mechanism via a cable. Think I'll whip the existing grille off tomorrow and see whats what. Dont really want to chance it, as its £60 and sending it back could be problematic.
  5. I have seen a badgeless grille for the 05+ Focus. My questions is - has anyone ever seen one fitted in the flesh, and what are the implications of fitting one. Looks to me like opening the bonnet would be nigh on impossible, but the company who makes them says 'You'll have no problems'. Better judgement tells me that perhaps they didnt understand the question and just want a sale. Any info would great, especially in relation to the way the lock mechanism is fitted, and how you open the bonnet minus the badge. Hope this makes some sense.
  6. Wind noise is more the issue on the MK2 IMO. Take that away and its really quiet. Anybody got a cure for wind  As for the faults, you're looking at a forum devoted to one car, it will inevitably highlight certain problems, but consider the other x,000 people who arent subscribed to the forum. It cant all be bad :)
  7. For a temporary fix, just push the release button on the belt lock and release. Light will flash, and no more chimes.
  8. Mines been in a few weeks now. Initially it just seemed to be abit smoother through the rev range, especially at the point where it used to flutter at around 4500-5000 rpm. A few weeks on and I have no idea if its purely my imagination, but it seems to have improved considerably. this could of course be the engine freeing up a bit with the miles, but its far more repsonsive.
  9. Hurrah - another member of the sport modesty crew. :) No flaws to speak of. I have an 06 spec sport, that I bought just before Christmas. Engine can be a bit hesitant and somewhat lacklustre for the fist 1-2k miles, but it perks up no end beyond that. I dropped a k&n filter in 2 weeks ago, and that made a significant difference to the overall repsonse throughout the rev range, so worth considering. Any questions just yell, what I cant answer somebody else will inevitably be able to :)
  10. I put mine in last week and havent had any problems. No ludicrous bursts of extra power, but smoother through the rev range and a bit quicker to respond, so I'm happy with that. IMO This argument is no different than the induction/panel filter argument. In both cases its arguably more hype than anything else, and the return is pretty insignificant when you're lusting after more power....but it does make some sort of difference, and this gives the illuson of being set apart from the Job Bloggs family car sect.
  11. Can I ask, where did you get it from? I bought it for a fiver from sim103 :) Dont have the part number to hand, but will fit both the duratec and ti-vct airbox. K&N claim they dont do a specirfic one, but its a perfect fit.
  12. I dropped one in two days ago and whilst I dont think I've added any extra horses, the car is far smoother and quicker to repsond throughout the rev range. Its a worthwhile investment.
  13. I've had 9 cars before the foci. 4 of which were all on tick. The focus costs me 195.00 pm. Its well within my remit, and I (perhaps foollishly) feel safer knowing I'm sitting in a new car with a warranty and no need for an MOT for 3 years. A large chunk of the interest is offset by the privelege discount (well thats what I tell myself) - so providing I can afford the cost per month for 3 years 'ish, then its no problem. One thing I havent questioned until now though is..... as the car doesnt strictly belong to me......are the any limitations as to me being able modify the car? The ma
  14. Whilst I cant admit to being the proud owner of an ST2, my very modest foci is also of the sea grey flavour. You too can enjoy the joy of trying to keep it looking clean ! :D Looks gorgeous on the ST2, very nice sir!
  15. Aye sir - the cmax fascia will work a treat. I have got one. Bare in mind you will need a failry shallow unit in the bottom if you put your HU in the top.
  16. The higher spec models seem to come with the bulb holders. My humble sport however, just has the spot for the holders to go. (soon to be remedied however!), so would imagine the ST to have the holders in place.
  17. Get the manual out - turn to engine compartments - look at pictures. The difference will be staring at you either way :)
  18. Yes, heat soak is a known issue apparently, and results are known to be better with a plain old filter upgrade.
  19. Has anybody successfully sourced and fitted an exhaust trim to the 05/06 focus wihtout a body kit? Pics would be great, as I am having some difficulty in trying to visualise and spec a suitable trim for mine.
  20. Does anybody know of a company that has manufactured a 'performance' panel filter for the new foci range? K&N are currently developing their offering, so wondering if there is anything else available?
  21. From the 1001 opnions I have sought, there is little between the duratec 1.6 and the ti-vct. Despite the extra BHP, its more a fuel economy issue than anything else. I have the 99ps engine. I didnt intentionally choose one or the other, but this is what I got. Below 2000 revs its a bit lacklustre, beyond this point and it comes into its own. I am up and down the motorway everyday and its a pleasure to drive, but round town I wouldnt be putting it up against any boy racers off the mark. :)
  22. The LX is what the sport is based on over here. I have the sport, and whilst it has the lampholders for the footwell lighting....there are no bulb holders. I am hoping to put pay to this in the future, so stay tuned.
  23. I suspect my warranty would be null and void if I bought the springs from Ford Parts and had the springs sorted elsewhere?
  24. Has anybody had Ford lower their new Focus? I am contemplating dropping the car 30-35mm on the standard wheels and wondered if anybody had done this and how much it cost. I should still get employees discount on the springs themselves, but suspect main dealer are going to be steep for the labour.
  25. Have a look at the ICE section FAQ sir - Autoleads part numbers are posted there :)
