  1. Yes, I discovered the noise was coming from the interior light ages ago but haven't done anything about it yet. No doubt, I should pop it out and take a look. Rik
  2. Will removing the tweeter cover give access to the bolts holding on the wing mirror or does the whole door cover need to come off. My wing mirror needs replaced and don't know if it is a simple DIY job or not. Cheers Rik
  3. I think I read somewhere on the forum that non-Ghia folk can buy a Ford Transit map light part for approx £13 as opposed to the focus version for £50. Rik
  4. Mine is missing too - dealer reports some have some don't. Bought mine used from a non-Ford dealer so can't complain. How much did you pay? Cheers Rik
  5. I think I read somewhere, that someone dipped the clear bulbs in blue ink to get the desired effect. Remember to let them dry  Rik
  6. Saw one in St Andrews last week. Stood out quite well on the dark gloomy day!
  7. What are the pros and cons of using LED for this purpose? Cheers Rik
  8. I can hear a "buzz" going over speed bumps too. It disappears if I dip the clutch? Therefore, I think it may just be a loose component. Will get check out under warranty, aswell as the tinny noise that I sometimes hear when the car is idling (only noticed when I scrape ice off the car in the mornings). Cheers Rik
  9. I had the same problem even after pushing the seal in, over and over again. Finally, I gave it a good push in (moved a bit further than before) and it seems to stuck there - 3 weeks so far so good. Cheers Rik
  10. You'll probably find that Ford recommends BP fuel, as BP have offered the highest price compared to other fuel supplier, so that their little BP logo appears beside the fuel cap. It's a marketing/advertising deal, probably worth millions to ford. I bet you there's some other supplier logo there in mainland Europe. Cheers, Rik
  11. I think you need to take the inner door panel off to get near the bolts that hold the mirror on. Knowing my luck I'll snap the clips. Cheers Rik
  12. My car was in for its first service today - £125 inc VAT and the service generally good :) However, I was informed "did I know about the crack and missing corner piece in my passenger wing mirror?" - no  Now I didn't notice the damage when I left the car this morning and it is possible it could have been damaged during the week...... Anyway, I have been quoted £55 for a new wing wirror (for a zetec climate) and £35 to fit it. I will phone around some other dealers to see it this is a good price. Anyone know if this easy to fit? Cheers Rik
  13. Quotes for 12.5K service: Bramall Laidlaw, Cupar - £125 inc VAT Macrae & * * * * (Auto bad language check - honestly they are called D*ck :o ), Perth - £129.95 inc VAT Prices are regardless of engine type -petrol, diesel or engine size. Never used either before, so a bit of lottery. Cheers Rik
  14. Don't know if you ST guys know this or are interested but the 2 charachter registration code for TAYSIDE is "ST" e.g. ST06 XYZ How likely or possible is it to get your new ST registered in TAYSIDE without being here? BTW: The reg plate on SWMBO's car starts with ST - first £500 offer secures it :D :) :o  (Joke!!) Cheers Rik
  15. Apart from the glove box which is too far to s-t-r-e-t-c-h, there doesn't seem to be a ideal place to store CDs. The door pockets are too small and the boxes rattle and the place beside the power outlet is too small and too near the gear stick. The mid-seat storage box/arm rest is a waste of space. I'm I missing something or have I been spoilt for space in SWMBO's mini-MPV? Where do you store your CDs? Cheers Rik :?:
  16. Can anyone tell me what the normal max engine operating temperature should be? Mine looks about 87 degrees when the engine has warmed up and traveling at a constant 70mph. Cheers Rik BTW: Is the Haynes Focus MKII manual available?
  17. I have just put down a deposit on a used focus, and if all goes well I will be collecting next week. The car is a 05 1.6TDCi (110) Zetec Climate. Apart from the usual stuff which you should check when buying any car, are there any particular things which I should be looking for on the new Focus e.g. 1. How can I check it is actually a 110 BHP model? 2. spare tyre with alloy? 3. etc Any input would be most appreciated. :? Cheers Rik
  18. nrg123, You are probably right.... 8) I have managed to locate the same model but it is a 7 month old 05 plate with 10K miles. I have managed to negotiate the price to £9600. I think this is worth considering, but might think about getting a pre-reg model. I wonder what the chances of getting a "new" 1.6 TdCi Zetec climate car with say 20 miles on the clock (with no VAT) for £10,500? Are Ford dealers having it tough out there? Cheers Rik
  19. Hi, I am currently looking at this car: 54 Plate (2005) 1.6TDCi Zetec Climate (mmondust silver), 11K miles at a non-Ford dealer. They are wanting £10,495 for the car. How does this sound. Also, is there anything I should be looking out for e.g. is it really a 110 BHP. All they could stated was that its engine is "108/3" with 127 CO2 emissions. Cheers Rik
  20. Unlike "Silver Beast", I am looking at a second-hand purchase. I have seen 2 cars in some dealerhips that interest me: 1. 2004 1.6TDCi Ghia, Tonic, 11k miles - £9499 2. 2004 2.0TDCi Zetec, Ink Blue, 10K miles - £10,499 I have decided not to buy an LX spec car and know how must I want to pay. A friend of mine paid £10,400 for a 1.6TDCi Zetec preg reg model recently (11 miles on the clock) which I thought was rather good :? Cheers Rik
  21. I'm also looking to buy a diesel c-max and I'm interested to find out if any issues have been cleared up, in particular the mpg problems. I currently run a P reg TD 406 with 137K on the clock. I get 48mpg on my 60mile daily commute (mixture of dual and single A1 roads) but don't want to buy a diesel c-max that gives me 30-40mpg. Cheers Rik
