  1. I've just been toying with the idea of painting the black bumper strip.
  2. The only problem with diesel foci, is the engine sounds like its fallen out when you stall it. Scared the living daylights out of me the first time i did it.
  3. Sounds good Looks about 11 secs 0-60, guess thats what the book says
  4. I just tried to remove the steering column cover and it wouldn't budge - will have another go when its not raining. Connector on the back of the headlight:
  5. In March my insurance company glasses guided my 05 Zetec Climate 1.6 (100) 10k ish miles at £8750 when it was written off.
  6. £210 sounds pretty good to me. Is it detachable? They look much better You could buy the bits and fit yourself, its pretty easy, not sure it would save you much money though. http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk
  7. 2.0 TDCi = worst 48mpg / best 55mpg. So glad i got rid of my 1.6 petrol :D
  8. There are legit reasons why you may drive without a seat belt. I work as a powerboat instructor/commercial skipper when I’m not at uni and spend a lot of time launching boats from trailers and moving my car around marinas. As I’m jumping in and out of the car every 2 secs and trying to look around while reversing 8mtrs of trailer I don't put my seat belt on....and the warning does get very annoying. Pushing the release button 3 times shuts the warning up too.
  9. No lift up thing - you just push it to the left. It's stiff, obviously to stop you selecting reverse by accident, but its not that hard.
  10. Get the 2.0 TDCi - the 1.8 has the old iron block/head and only has a SOHC with 8 valves - plus the 2.0 isn’t much worse fuel consumption wise and performs so much better. I suspect you will get the 2.0 after you test drive them anyway :)
  11. I'm pretty sure mine drops about 1mpg. Maybe its just the 2.0 TDCi (you have a 1.6 Ti-VCT if I remember correctly?)...or maybe I play with the buttons to much :) .
  12. Cruise controls great for long journeys and any road with loads of speed cameras. The only downside is it appears to knock around 1mpg off - guess it doesn't do a great job of managing the throttle.
  13. Electronic brake force distribution (EBD) is standard. Emergency brake assist (EBA) is part of the ESP option
  14. My 1.6 [100] was averaging just over 35 mpg - driving moderately hard. If I drove really gently and stayed to 60mph or below I could push 42 mpg. No idea what my 2.0 TDCi is using - but much less than my 1.6 was :D
  15. The aircon turns on when the air is directed to the windscreen. Turn it to any other setting and it will stay off.
  16. As far as I understand the Continental Teves MK 70 is purely ABS - not TCS/ESP. The MK60 is ESP/TCS capable
  17. Insurance finally made me an offer today  - thankfully I took out GAP when I bought the car :D. 55 5dr Moondust Silver Ghia 2.0TDCi with adaptive front lighting and ESP being picked up on Thursday. Will miss the Zetec but the new one is very nice. Thanks for all you comments/info.
  18. wow - 3 months. I could be without a car for a while then  :( I've just taken the whizzpopper Mariva 1.6 for a spin the hire car company dropped off. Made me realise what I’m missing! Robbins, yeah luckily no one was hurt which I guess is the main thing. No pictures yet, it was too dark to take them last night, going to go down to that garage and survey the damage for myself tomorrow.
  19. Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure the boot area chassis is crumpled, going to go down the garage and have a look when the hire car turns up, so I guess it would be a write off. I'm sure it'll cost me money some how - you never win with insurance.
  20.    Went out for a Indian and came back to where I’d parked the car to find a load of police and 5 smashed cars. Some guy had apparently come round the corner, swerved to miss a cyclist and smashed into my Focus and a Fiesta behind me. My car then shot forwards and smashed two cars in front. Fronts all smashed in, rear wheels at about 45 degrees from where it should be and the back/boot area is screwed. At least the guy that crashed was insured. Only had it 3 months! Hopefully its a write off 'cause I don't really want it back after that. Anyone know the l
  21. Sorry - let me elaborate. Cars with the optional alarm have a button on the driver’s door near the door handle. Pressing the button before you lock the car disables the interior sensing part of the alarm. If you’re using the non remote key you have to switch the ignition to the II position within 12sec of opening the car to disarm the alarm. The only way round this is to buy another remote key.
  22. There’s a thread on Ti-VCT identification: http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... ight=tivct Also have a look at your V5 - a Ti-VCT will have its co emissions listed as 155g/km
  23. What’s on your invoice/receipt? If it says Ti-VCT and they have supplied a normal 1.6 then go and ask them to supply the correct car. If it doesn't say Ti-VCT then you got what you paid for. What makes you think it’s not a Ti-VCT?
