HAHA, yes I got the car from evans but they said the GTR was usually a 1.4 so with mine being a 1.6 it had to be done specially by the guys from Lytham who do all the GTR models. Mine is an LX too, hope its not a common problem guys?

My Dad says he gets 60mpg in his on motorway mileage which sounds about right from what xanadu said, but otherwise I'm unsure sorry. I paid £55 inc VAT for my velour mats although the dealership did provide me with a set of cheap, bog standard mats at POS The standard stereo is ok, a little flat and the sound isn't top notch (but what do you expect from standard HU) I have the Sony one from the ST fitted now and it is significantly better Hope that helps fella!

What does the ST wiper look like? Any chance of a pic anyone? At the moment I just have a standard rear wiper and aero front wipers and I must say it does look tak!...

Sorry to hijack the post, but...I had the same problem yesterday after nipping to Sainsburys. The car started very momentaraly then conked out. I had to turn it over more than normal to start it again? The car is only 3 days old so it could have been that it is a new engine but saying that, new engines should start first time, every time surely?

Yes, you will need to get the unit configured to the car if it is brand new. However much I slated Ford for trying to charge me £50 they were right in what they were saying. It was really my fault for not mentioning it came out of an ST. As I say, luckily with mine it came straight out of a Focus anyway so was alright and ready configured. None of your DSP settings etc will work so I'd mention it when you take the other one in and get a price!

Old unit taken out and new one fitted for £4.....All works fine and DSP works also. Hmmmmm, seems Ford were cow pooing a little doesn't it!!

Cheers guys. I'll be going to Base Systems tomorrow morning for them to pop the old one out then I'll stick the new one in. If there are any issues I'll get them to take a look but by the sound of things there shouldn't be! I paid £137 for mine on ebay by the way loweman2

Yes, but seeing as it came out of a Focus anyway you'd think it wouldn't be needed? I don't know. I'll try fitting myself and if it doesn't work I'll have to take it to the local ICE retail/fitters to see what they can do.

Exactly the reason I'm doing mine. They stick out like a sore thumb because of the 5 spoke 18" alloys I have :?

In previous vehicles I wired the charger to the cables entering the back of the 12v fag lighter using the crimp on connectors. This is ok to to as long as you keep the transformer on the phone charger intact. If you take apart the unit that enters the 12v charger you will find that there is enough wire attatched to the metal contacts on the outside to crimp onto the current wires. Dont take my word for it though. Might be best to wait and see what everyone else suggests.

Have you checked that the CD you are playing has CD Text written to it? I know it seems like a daft question but may be worth checking. Not all CD's have this written to them.

I got mine on saturday. The front calipers are still nice and gold/silver colour but the drums are showing a little rust. I plan to paint the drums black and calipers blue to match the stripes :D

I have the same problem. It really bugs me because I HATE having marks on my windows inside or out!

Mine fits fine. Seems like I have to drop the bonnet from a fair way off to close it though (cant seem to place it down and push to close). I know its a separate issue but thought it might be worth a mention.

No, they are some weird blade shape and Halfrauds don't stock them. I'm gonna nip down to the bigger dealership tomorrow morning as they have a large accessories shop. Hoping that they stock them cause at the moment my lovely new headunit is sitting on the side in the kitchen :(

Another question :? I bought the Sony head unit to go in my new Focus off ebay. It was taken straight out of an 06 ST so keeping this in mind I took it along on Saturday to see if I could get it fitted when I picked up my new car. The local dealer quoted me £50 inc VAT to fit as "it needs to be programmed to the car otherwise it wont keep its settings" Surely not!!?? They are both factory fit units and should just need the ISO block pulling out of the 6000 and into the Sony, turning on and putting in the key code (which was provided at time of purchace from ebay)? I would fit it myself

Hey all! I picked up my new 1.6 Zetec on Saturday morning and at the moment only have 1 complaint. Sometimes when going over a bumpy section of road there is a tapping noise coming from the boot (Mate suggested it was an illegan immigrant trying to get out but anyway...) I have a feeling its the number plate because it doesnt curve round with the boot, it sticks out a little at the edges. If its not this I have no idea. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem. I know my dad has the same sort of noise in his 05 Fiesta but he's just ignored it. Not something I can do really :lol:
