  1. I had a similar problem on my 1.8 ghia 55 plate. Drove son to under 8 football match no problem, started snowing and game cancelled, car would not start and when did had engine system fault. Rev counter was jumping all over the place, car drove ok and when restarted ok. tried next day with same problem, fords said it was my battery with a cell down but had to pay for a new battery, after on 18months!! It may pay to have a proper battery test done as apparently the quick test ford normally do on a service doesnt test it fully.
  2. You will find the economy picks up after a few 1000 miles. My 1.8 petrol ghia was poor but now does 33mpg round town after 25k.Motorway trips are about the same but then again average speed is 80mph. Dont believe Fords figures as they are on rolling roads in a test facility so no drag etc, then you wont be dsappointed. :!: Brother in law had a 1.6 zetec and would get around 40-45 on a good run. Give it time and enjoy the car :P
  3. Bluecrazy, What did your wife say to ford to get the £250 back? Better still can you send her to Leeds on my behalf!! Just had to Pay another £171 for a bloody battery as a cell died.Told battery wass £60 plus vat and the rest was labour and diagnostics. Got it reduced to £109 as refused to pay diagnostics charge as I said it was like me taking out a screwdriver or spanner to fix hospital equipment and charging the customer per tool just to HELP do the repair. They say the original battery only has a one year warranty and although the car is only 18 months old the 3 year warranty does not
  4. been driving my 1.8I ghia petrol for 18 months. worst car I have ever had. Just had to pay £171 for new battery as cell down. 2 weeks previous had to pay £550 for service and rear disks and pads. also had defective paint finish due to bad pdi, faulty coil pack and intermittant misfire which is still present from delivery. If you want to buy a Ford dont get EPB on the cmax and dont believe brochure on mpg and be prepared for poor service from Ford. Otherwise when it goes they are a nice car to drive. Ps I,m looking to sell mine and buy something more reliable!!!
  5. My cmax had done 24500 and gone metal to metal, cost me £250 for pads and discs, plus another £40 ish to have recalibrated. I queried the recal charge as said if they were charging labour to fit bits it should cover recal but typically Ford argued!! They checked the front and said only 50% worn, I asked why the frear had worn out before the front as I would expect the front to wear more as more force applied on braking due to car momentum but they couldnt answer. Since done my mileage has gone up by 4mpg??? It now makes me wonder if they were calibrated correctly in the first place. I also
  6. I have a 1.8 petrol ghia and get 31mpg around town, and around 37mpg on longer runs. The petrol engine is good but is a little unreliable. still have an intermittant misfire thats been there since new, ford cant find it yet It is always there!!! Read what car review on web site very accurate and beware of massive depreciation in 1st 12 months , what car says something around 45% but when I enquires about a trade in for a s mx it was more like 65%. Very comfy car and rides well hopefully you have a good dealer, my option would be a diesel or a toyota!!
  7. coorection it is called wonder wheels by car plan cost me £9 all but a few pence. well worth a go as it is quick and took me 45 minutes to clean all exterior of the car on sunday instead of 1hr 45 mins.
  8. 1.My 1.8 ghia cmax is 1 year old and only worth 60 % of the 21k we paid!! 2.The wind noise from around the drivers door. 3. The intermittant misfire that ford cant cure, however running on 99 octane cures it !! and it runs smoother accelerates quicker and does 37mpg on motorway. 4.S**t ford service centres. 5. cleaning alloy wheels. Have recently bought magic wheels alloy cleaner that you brush on. it really works and cuts through the dirt in seconds. 2 coats needed on crusty rear wheels. other than that a comfy and enjoyable drive.
  9. My 55 plate c-max ghia has this problem and ford have said is normal noise!!! It sounds at times as if a door or window is not shut correctly. It seems to me that fords no longer believe in customer satisfaction, that may be why my dealer is dropping ford from its list of manufacturers? If some one does have asolution to this problem It will be greatly appreciated.
  10. The dealer has had plug leads off cand checked.all ok. The car still misfires at 2500-2750 rpm. However whilst tescos is doing 5p off petrol I have filled with their 99 octane the last 2 fills and find the car is smoother and more responsive and the misfire is a lot less noticable? Does this mean anything to you more technical people, I still suspect engine management or injectors. Ford customer relations have recently phoned and said again there is nothing they can do until the garage experiences the misfire or gets an error code. I decide that enough was enough and I would trade in and get a
  11. I have had a 1.8 petrol cmax ghia for 12 months from new, with an intermittant misfire on acceleration. It occurs between 2500 and 2750rpm only. It is raised with customer relations and the Ford dealer is refusing to change anything as it is not producing an error code. I have lost count of the times it has been to the garage for this fault. On the 18th August it went in again after customer relations told me if there were no error codes the dealer would phone ford technical and discuss the most appropriate part(s) to change as it has been going on since new. The service manager phoned me and
  12. Mine creaked and squueked from new!! It drove me mad but I soon found the problem. It was the rear passenger seats squueking and it didnt do it when the kids were in the car. Fords lightly greased the striker plates which if you lift up the seats are the big looking springs which lock to the floor panel. They seem to have lightly covered it in lithium grease, but who cares its pretty quite apart from wind noise, but ive asked the wife to stop eating Beans!!! :?:
  13. I have a 1.8 petrol ghia and get 29 around town but currently only get 34mpg on along run from Leeds to Windsor.I would have expected better like 40mpg? What do you guys get on long runs never going over 80mph.
