  1. LOL Was that you banging on the counter or thunder? I think we need a new group dealer ratings! We can all add good & bad points and over time build up a UK map of the dealers to visit. Nick
  2. CFC disconnect the battery for a minute then reconnect it. The clock should come back. Nick.
  3. The centre boss has blistered on all 4 wheels. but the wheels themselves seem ok. (12.5k miles) It looks like that could be where the wheels have been damaged when the kwik fit monkers change the wheel valve. All it takes is a scratch then the water gets in.
  4. You are right that's when the fuel gets used. If you keep under 2000 rpm so the turbo is mostly inactive then you will see the best economy. I've tried it and it makes a big difference, but its boring! and very hard to do with a 2.0 Tdci. It's too much fun to make it work!
  5. Just the self setting clock. Quick way to fix a bug... remove the feature!
  6. The thing that confuses me is the oil marks. I didn't know computer keyboards were oily :D
  7. Sad i know i've read it & it is. for the C-Max anyway.
  8. It needs setting every time the battery is removed & you need to do it for each window. The reason: The window has a safety feature that stops the one touch if your head or hand gets in the way. This system needs calibrating, so what you do is open the window fully, then close it completely, then pull to close again. (keeping hands & head out of the way!) While the window is closing the motor current is monitored to see how hard a normal window close is. Once done while the window is auto closing if it suddenly gets harder to close then something must be in the way so the mo
  9. You dont need to visit the dealer to fit the stereo, but to get the best sound quality you need the uprated speakers and then get the dealer to program the new radio with the trim level of your car, which has to be done using the WDS. The radio has a DSP that alters the sound output to match the interior of your car. I've got the Sony MP3 & speakers in C-Max once set up it sounds fanstastic. The Bass output from the Sony is very heavy & needs a good set of speakers to match. I think the Ford upgrade is Around £150 for the complete set. Its worth it! To make the clock work do this.
  10. The RDS option was removed as there were issues between the radio and the master timekeeper in the car (the instrument panel). If you have the RDS option in your radio it needs a firmware update to remove it. (free Under warrenty). If the radio displays --:-- or 00:00 it is possible that the GEM is not aware of the radio. If the battery is disconnected & reconnected without a radio in the car, the GEM won't attempt to display the clock it just reverts to --:-- or 00:00. If you disconnect the battery wait about 30 seconds then reconnect it, the GEM will ask the radio what it is &
  11. your doors should unlock automatically There's the magic word! If you locked the doors & they didn't open in a crash then it's your fault as you locked them. But if the car locked the doors then what?
  12. I'm in the same boat i have 2 group 1 seats & need to find a group 2-3 Britax Duo Plus Isofix (Group 1, 9-18 Kgs, 9 months - 4 years) very sturdy seat did well in crash ratings The larger one the only isofix i could find was a Jane Indy Plus (Group 2&3, 15-36 Kgs, 3 to 12 years) Both worth a look. Nick
  13. Only if you disconnect the battery with the radio removed. Nick
  14. magic77, You'll just need to re-enter the security code when you put the head unit back. If you disconnect the battery with the radio out the GEM (a computer in the car) may disable the clock display on the radio. (the radio will show --:--) Simply disconnect & reconnect the battery with the radio connected & it will come back. Have a search in the C-Max forum for the wiring pinouts for a phone kit, they are in there somewhere. (if i find it i'll post). Must be a solid state switch then rather than a relay. A relay would disconnect the radio input completely. Nick Found e
  15. But it costs nothing its an option in the WDS!?! Must be some reason for the removal.
  16. I think autolocking is deemed potentially unsafe in Europe. What happens if the doors don't open in an accident? Who is at fault? The driver could say well i didn't lock them so the car is at fault. Big law suit ensues! That may be why they have removed the feature.
  17. Here you go. http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... highlight= Scroll down the thread for the photos
  18. Especially the 2.0 TDCi. It's a belter! Tyres are sodding expensive though!
  19. I agree, i've got 2 little monsters & the fabric seats get filthy. With hindsight i would have got leather. If you have the option (& kids) the rear DVD player is a must too. You get to actually enjoy a long drive in peace without the constant Are we there yet!!! Hope you find one! Nick
  20. 12k on ours too fronts are legal just! Parking & power steering its a tyre killer!
  21. I wouldn't worry too much about an older build. Ford does give you a 3 year warranty, IF the EGR or any other problem arises you know where to look & who you can ask for help. I've got a very early build thats had most of the fixes in the sticky & has been fine since. The finance option can be good leverage if you really need it, but the best collective advise from here is find a good dealer & stick with them. Unfortunately some are better than others...
