  1. I've got the phone version it's fits very well & hasn't moved yet (been there nearly 3 years) . It is located lower left of the radio not covering any vents. I can post pictures if needed. Nick.
  2. You can if you like but it will affect your fuel economy big time!
  3. Gwyn, It's a well known fact that the worst thing you can do is to not use your AC for long periods. If you look in any manual for a car with AC is advises use throughout winter for short periods to prevent the lubricant/coolant mix in the system from seperating, which it will do if it sits too long. What Ford has done is suggest that the quickest way to clear a fogged windscreen is to use the AC to condense & dry the air coming into the car (which is true). As a knock on effect the AC comes on a little more frequently which helps preserve the life of the coolant. So its not a design f
  4. Alan, Make use of the finance company. If they mess you around you have the power to withold payment. My dealer lied & conned me out of the free fuel for a year deal that came with the new C-Max (£900 of diesel), only for Ford to wriggle out of because i ordered the car too early! WTF!!! After long battles with Ford customer service & the promise of a good will gesture from Dagenham motors i got sod all! Unfortunately i paid cash so had no support from any finance company. Get them to apply pressure too. Good Luck! Nick
  5. The 2.0 TDCis are prone to this but never heard of it on a petrol. One of the excuses given to us was a duff batch of batteries, The battery in a petrol car is probably a different size but maybe it's duff. Any good dealer will be able to test it for you.
  6. If i recall You have to: 1) Fully open the window 2) Fully close the window 3) Press the close button again 4) enter your username & password D'oh! wrong windows! There is a current monitor on the window winder motor to stop the window if something gets in the way while its closing. After a battery disconnection you need to reset each window using the proceedure above. Otherwise the one shot close will be temporarily disabled.
  7. LOL! Yep they're either soft or very crunchy!
  8. Mastertech, Phil is probably referring to the old DVD version of the TIS that's floating around. Unfortunately the last TSB or SSM on that was Jan 04. We mere mortals don't have access to Etis now its all gone web based, so the occasional posting from those who do is very usefull. As always as soon as i read a TSB or SSM thats been posted i will copy into the Known issues & fixes thread. Nick.
  9. Try opening and closing all the windows then turning the ignition on.
  10. Dave, I've got one of the early build (2003.75) 2.0 TDCi Ghias + toys Yes there have been a few minor problems, but with the help of the forum & a friendly local service department they have all been resolved. Would i buy another one? Yes Why? Drive around in it for a while & you'll see. Its such an fun & easy car to drive! On a typical trip to my parents, with the wife, kids & a boot load of junk, there's a nice stretch of dual carriage way with a long steep hill just after a roundabout. (A41/M25) I get in the outside lane put my boot down and the car just keeps on
  11. but it's an h?? & wrong i know  while we're on the subject where's the apostrophe? I think Nick's comments are in inaccurate, completely out of order and frankly appalling! do you have a ss sttutter?
  12. Just drive slowly up north somewhere. The wheels will come off on thier own!

  14. It's caused by the airflow over & around the car, & is dependant on wind speed & the opening of the window. some say open oposing front & rear windows to cure it i.e. left front right rear etc There is no easy answer, as soon as you think you have cured it the wind speed changes & off it goes again! It is worse the better the aerodynamics of the car. Here's an interesting article on it. http://www.deskeng.com/Articles/Applica ... 01213.html
  15. Nah Benilyn & Vodka I guess you really have to ask who writes these sequences into the firmware.
  16. 1) Start with the Belt Unbuckled 2) Turn the ignition On and wait for the Airbag lamp to go off. 3) Buckle and unbuckle the drivers seat belt 9 times within 60 seconds. The Airbag Lamp should now flash 3 times to indicate success. 4) Turn Off the ignition. Repeat the process to turn the alarm back on again.
  17. That fix only protects the instrument cluster which is the master timekeeper. The radio supply will still drop when cranking. Radio keys: http://shop.dashmount.co.uk/radiokeys.asp Left side of last row labelled '770015 - Ford 6000 (04>)'
  18. I've got a sony PC110E & i agree with gazza the battery life if pretty important. The standard Sony battery lasts 3 hours of full use, I got them to throw in a big one that lasts 12! Important features: Good battery life Good screen/viewfinder (that you can see in sunlight) Low light level sensitivity (for filming indoors) Good optical zoom, digital zoom is ok but no good for watching on a big screen. Good image stabiliser silent zoom/focus motors (the onboard mics pick up everything) DV connection if you're going to edit on a pc. There are lots of other bells & whistles, effects
  19. gazza, Be wary of blue jackers! If you're leaving a Bluetooth device in your car, make sure it is not 'Discoverable'. The little buggers now walk round car parks searching for bluetooth devices. It doesn't take long to work out which car, then they break in and take them. A workmate left a bluetooth headset in his laptop bag in the boot out of site. Someone broke into his car, rummaged through the glovebox, couldn't find anything, popped the boot & Bingo! If the headset wasn't discoverable they would never have found it! The Police told him its become a common ocurrance. Nick
  20. Blimey thats dangerous cruise control in a Vectra!?! You could easily fall asleep duing normal driving but with cruise control? Yaaaawn!
  21. So where do we stand once the warranty expires? Lower mileage cars are more likely to experience problems after the warranty expires. My 2 year old C-Max has only done 10kmiles & has had the EGR replaced with a standard version. If it follows the trend, sometime next year it will fail again & I will be landed with a hefty bill to upgrade a part that is know to be faulty! whats a ballpark figure for a new EGR & recalibration?
