  1. Ther was an ebay seller called fastfoodchef who had a lot of these, and some people from here bought them with no problems. His ebay store got deleted for some reason, maybe lack of use, since he hasn't had anything for sale for a while. This ad looks similar, and the name has the same "ring" to it :)
  2. Not wanting to come over as a spoilsport or anything, but isn't what you're contemplating insurance fraud? Unless, of course, you're going to pay the car glass people the difference in price between a heated and non-heated windscreen?
  3. There are several modules on the C-Max that can be updated - the instrument console, the radio and the ECU, and as far as I know they all have to updated separately. The 0422 you're seeing is the instrument console software version, and is not the latest version, it should be 0424. There's no way for mere plebs like you and I to determine what software level the ECU is at, that can only be done by a Ford dealer using their WDS computer. As far as I'm aware the disk version you mention is the latest, but I'm sure others here with more insider knowledge will chip in with more authoritative in
  4. One man's "cool" is another man's "tacky" :) I vote for "tacky", personally.
  5. That's the theory, at least, more like "undo a torx screw, push down 2 clips and faff around for half an hour pushing and pulling every which way without success, then go away count to 10 and come back when it all works perfectly first time ... if you're lucky!"
  6. Mine doesn't squeak, but it does rattle a bit. In fact if you just grab the seat back and wiggle it around a bit it's quite loose despite the latches being firmly engaged. That having been said, there are so many other squeaks, rattles and groans I hardly notice it any more :(
  7. I'm pretty sure it won't work because it cons the radio into thinking the iPod is a CD changer. The C-Max (and the new Focus) uses a different protocol (it communicates via CanBUS like the rest of the car components) than other Fords and won't work. There are two versions of the 6000CD, the one with the central volume knob as in the C-Max and new Focus, and another, older version. The 6000CD in the C-Max was pretty well ignored by ther after market CD-changer market, but now the new Focus is out hopefully that will change.
  8. Just avoid playing with it when you're in a dodgy pub ... looks and sounds to all intents and purposes like a flick knife from a distance :)
  9. I haven't got the auto wipers on mine, but I did have them on a VW Bora once, and then you had to activate the wipers first manually, even just a flick-wipe before they'd operate in automatic mode. I think it was to stop them operating when the wiper blades were frozen to the windscreen before you'd had a chance to free them or something like that.
  10. Can't see any pictures here mate! I don't know what network54.com is, but it would appear you need to log in to use them.
  11. Looks like it! I guess most people, including me, don't have a clue what a ERA-G320 display is either :)
  12. Yep, I had exactly the same thing happen to me a few months ago, except mine were the other way round (I think?!). See http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... highlight= No problems since though.
  13. My recall letter came directly from Ford Ireland not from the dealer. The letter was dated 15/08/2005. Here's a copy of the letter ...
  14. Mine's an '04. Don't see as how the engine would be of any significance to this particular recall, but it's a 1.6TDCi for what it's worth. There's a code too ... 5C002.
  15. Hi, I've just got a safety recall notice on my C-MAX. Something to do with water getting into the rear wiper assembly causing shorts and potentially melting the trim in the area of the motor. Anyone else got one?
  16. I too have a relatively long torso and short legs, and I have to say that the C-Max is the most comfortable car I have ever driven on long journeys, and I've been driving for 30+ years in probably as many different cars. Personally I don't see you getting anywhere by going along the 'unfit for use' route considering that there are many thousands of people driving identical cars who don't have a problem. Just sell it and move on.
  17. Exactly!!! Not only that, but the general idea is also that your headlights continue to function properly ... as headlights, that is. The exact shape and placement of these bits of black tape is crucial to them working properly. Do it properly, or not at all.
  18. As someone who suffers horrendously from hay fever, I'd like to be able to check whether this has been replaced, as I have a service coming up. I was wondering whether it would be easy enough either to check, or to lay some kind of 'trap' to detect whether it had been opened up or not? Where should I look for the pollen filter?
  19. They do? That's new to me. I treat bulbs as expendables like oil and wiper blades, always have.
  20. Oh, in that case, no they don't meet ... mines an early '04 model in Ink Blue BTW. There is some slight rubbing on the edges of the two front doors, but I put that down to knocking walls etc. with the doors while opening them.
  21. If I had a clue as to what you're talking about I'd check mine :) "Clinched flanges"? "Set back flanges"? It's all greek to me!
  22. Gwyn, try this lot in the UK. At least you'll get what you paid for. http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/default.asp ... istory=cat I've bought headlight bulbs from them (Philips Vision Plus) from them before. Great service, and quick too.
  23. Ken, thanks ... I'll try and get my garage (Esmonde Motors in Dublin) to fix it when it's in for its service. If not, I may have to "pop" over to Galway :)
  24. Is this the one where you see oil on the outside of the big rubber pipe coming from the turbo, where two pipes join? Or is it something else?
