  1. I wouldn't place too much faith in the low oil warning light as this is usually triggered by low oil pressure as opposed to low oil level. For the oil pressure to get low enough that the light comes on the level has to get pretty low...
  2. I can't believe this. I can't think how p1ssed off you must be. Someone upstairs has decided you really shouldn't have bought the C-Max. Really sorry to hear what has happened...
  3. Before trying back to black - which could leave nasty black residue in places - go to Halfords and look for some rubber lubricant (silicon spray as mentioned before.) Its pretty cheap and shouldn't leave any mess like back to black could.
  4. The mic is mounted on the right of the interior light/rear-seat mirror housing with some sticky back velcro so again, no drilling :-) Also allows my passenger to get in on the conversation! The only untidy aspect is the wire running from the cradle to under the dash but I prefer that to having holes in the dash. Not sure about the new disc - I have the AB version presently and with the exception of not knowing about the M6 Toll (which admittedly is a bummer) it seems okay. Not sure I can justify the expense for a few extra new roads when I use it mostly for finding my way around the UK's
  5. Hi, Thanks for the explanation about uploading files... Made me laugh a bit as I'm an IT consultant and you explained it as if I was a non-techie! Felt like a right idiot for asking the stupid question in the first place  You ever considered a job as a training material author?! I meant to ask the simple question of whether I can place images directly onto the forum or whether I would have to remotely host them somewhere. Anyway, I think you did a brilliant post and would suggest it was pinned (probably in the main forum) to help other users. Anyway, as it was easier for me (e
  6. I've had miles on the distance readings which left me with F on the temperature so had a fiddle... I've found that by scrolling through the display to the specific outside temperature mode and then pressing and holding the set/reset button the temperature changes to C but the distance stays in miles. (just as mentioned previously on this thread.) Which is nice!
  7. Interesting all these posts about fuel consumption... I'm getting about 500 miles to a tank and only just done over 1000 miles so hoping it will get better as the engine loosens up...
  8. Okay, stupid question... How do I get images on here?!
  9. Watched it last night - it was badged as a Zetec.
  10. Shame. It really is a good feature to have. Typical Ford! Didn't realise the fix was now available for the fuel light problem (although I haven't suffered with it yet!) Wonder how long it will be before a CD is released with code to remove the flat spot in first gear?
  11. That's utter b*llocks. You've ordered and paid for something that isn't fit for purpose. Trading standards might have something to say about it... On a brighter note - my dealer recommended having the Nokia kit fitted once the car had been delivered instead of going for the factory pre-instalation when I ordered mine. He didn't give a reason and I just agreed at the time. In retrospect (after hearing your horror story) it looks like this was a stroke of luck as the kit is spot on. There isn't a single hole drilled anywhere in my car for the kit, which can be easily removed at some poin
  12. Inspired by all the postings surrounding fuel consumption I have a question for everyone who has the sat nav system on there C-Max... Once the fuel light has come on and you have received the low fuel warning, does the Sat nav screen highlight the local POI petrol stations? I've seen this on the sat nav system in the Jag S-Type and am assuming the system will be similar. As I've only filled up my C-Max once since picking it up and haven't let it run too low yet I haven't had a chance to test it. Also, for information - I've done just over 700 miles so far with an average consumption show
  13. I've just chopped in an ST170 for the C-Max... The ST was no different when it came to changes to the calibration. Have a look through the threads on the ST forum and see for yourself! Most people have had about 5 different versions of the ECU map! As long as a revised engine map cures the problem it shouldn't be a problem - its only a simple job for the dealer to perform. In fact, I think the update is performed automatically when the car is plugged into the dealer's diagnostic system (WDS?) if there is a newer calibration available.
  14. You must remember that cruise control on the normal Focus is usually with a mechanical actuator, as mentioned in the previous post. If your C-Max has a drive by wire throttle (i.e. no mechanical link between the throttle pedal and the throttle butterfly) then the actuator is irrelevant as the ECU controls the throttle via software. This is better as it implies that you may only need the steering wheel and a software update.
  15. Sounds almost the same... You press one button to turn the control on for each journey (there is also an off button which I've never used! - I'm not convinced of the use of these buttons other than a possible safety feature. You wouldn't want to get in and press resume accidentally and go hurtling off down the road - at least activating the cruise is a two step process for each journey.) When you get to the desired cruise speed you press the set button (which is also the + speed button.) You can then speed up or slow down by pressing the + or - buttons. If you press the clutch or brake
  16. I can't say for certain but I would be very surprised if it wasn't just a case of swapping the steering wheel for one with the cruise control buttons. A friend has an Astra with the 2.2 engine that also has drive by wire throttle - all he had to do was get a replacement indicator stalk with the cruise control buttons and he was away. Sounds familiar to the VW setup. I imagine the ECU is exactly the same for Ghia / non-Ghia models so if the engine is drive by wire it may be simple enough. (I know the 2.0 TDCi is but are the petrol engines as well?) It could be that your suggestion of alte
  17. Just for info... In my owners pack the information regarding the auxillary input in the glovebox is on a seperate sheet of card specified as additional information. This may suggest that it was added to later builds of the car (only picked mine up this week at long last...) Also, in the audio manual there is a paragraph somewhere that states certain models of the available ICE for the C-Max are not compatible with CD changers.
  18. I've got the Sat Nav system and also have the auxillary jack in the glovebox...
  19. The list I've got is a copy of the dealers but with his costs blanked out so I can't see how much they mark stuff up!! The scuff plates are listed as front only - so its not very cheap at all! I fancy getting hold of one of the mountain bike holders and some netting for the boot for when I'm in an 'outdoor' mood!!
  20. I picked up the price list for C-Max accessories the other day (my dealer hasn't got the actual brochure yet) and there are some interesting things on there.... Alloy Wheels 7.5 x 18" (grey with machined rim) Alloy Wheels 7.5 x 18" 5 Spoke Alloy Wheels 7.5 x 18" 10 Spoke mmmmmm 18 inches mmmmm... Numerous internal transport straps and luggage nets and straps and dog guards and floor mats etc. There are also some body-styling accessories and even some stainless scuff plates. Its not great, but its a start. Does anybody remember the days when there was a Ford RS brochure wi
  21. I pick up my C-Max on Monday... Can't wait! 2.0 TDCi Ghia with Xenon's, phone kit, 6-disc Sat nav and privacy glass in metallic black. Woohoo! I'm bursting to get in it!! Also, just as I am getting rid of my ST170, the bluefin has been released :-( I've asked before but was just wondering what is available in this area for the 2.0 TDCi engine in the C-Max and has anyone fitted one?
  22. I got a phone call from my dealer last night to say my C-Max is finally destined for delivery around the 26th of this month... Can't wait!
  23. Out of interest, have those with poor fuel consumption checked their tyre pressures lately? I had problems with my ST170 getting worse and worse on the consumption side and discovered I had a very slow puncture. I'd set the tyre pressure and the consumption would be okay (never brilliant for the ST!) and as time went by it would get progressively worse as the tyre slowly deflated. So once the puncture was remedied I experimented a bit and found increasing all four tyres by say 3psi made a noticable difference to the consumption for the long motorway journies I do each week (around 500 mile
  24. I've still not got an estimated build or delivery date. This is getting ridiculous!
