Went into the Liverpool branch of the RAC Windscreens for them to check it out today... The guy was great and after about half an hour managed to fix it. He checked all fuses which were ok but in the end it was related to the earth strap for the windscreen, behind the interior light. The flat ribbon earth strap for the heated screen is bolted to the interior of the roof along with another smaller earth lead. All he did was undo the bolt and swap the order of the two earth connections so that the earth strap was against the roof and the other earth lead was on top of it, then bolted it al

I'm waiting to get some spare time to take mine into my local RAC windscreen branch for them to have a look this week. So far I'm less than impressed with the response. If one more person tells me the windscreen has nothing to do with my central locking I'll be up in court for murder :evil: I know that a sheet of glass has nothing to do with locking/unlocking - no * * * * sherlock! Trying to get them to understand that something else may have been disturbed in the removal/refitting process is like herding cats. It has just been made even worse by a Ford dealership I've just visited in

Nightmare. Mine took a turn for the worst today as well - looks like the heated screen doesn't work now either. :( Going to get back on the phone to the RAC tomorrow and see how I move this forward. Am expecting a nightmare to get them to own up to causing it...

I've just had the windscreen of mine replaced and discovered afterwards that my remote locking no longer works :( Did you get this sorted in the end? The glass company are being less than helpful at the moment - "Sorry sir, but I'm not aware of anything that would cause this related to the windscreen removal." No, neither effin am I but seeing as you took it apart and put it back together and now something else is broke it doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess whats happened... I'll have to see if I can see anything obvious behind the interior lamp.

Hi, I've got the Sat Nav system and in the glove box there is an auxillary input jack (a standar 3.5mm plug if memory serves me well) so if as someone has already said the wiring is already there, it may just be a case of finding the wiring and plugging it in!

Got mine in my hand whilst I type this (the key that is :wink: ) and it has the slightest bit of play in it bit not what you would call a wobble. If it was any tighter it would be difficult to fold in and out...

Obvious question - have you taken a 2.0 TDCi for a test drive?

I've tried setting the auto-locking using the manual procedure (did it on my ST170 no problems) and I'm finding that after cycling the drivers door lock a few times, the central locking stops working... Its as if the car thinks there is a fault causing the door to lock and unlock repeatedly so stops the other locks activating as well. Anyone else had this?

No - but it would be nice...

There is a section in the owners manual explaining when/what causes the handbrake not to automatically come on when you turn off the ignition... Have a look there.

Have to say this... Maybe, just maybe, the C-Max was designed for people who have grown out of the Halfords stick-on bits like spoilers, light up windscreen washers, dodgy lowering springs, etc... The C-Max isn't aimed at people who are into modding cars. Its a practical family car (god I sound boring!) Oh, and Ford supply 18" alloys in the accessories brochure for the C-Max although again, big allloys probably don't interest the majority of people who would consider buying a C-Max in the first place. :wink:

I've got an '04 2.0 TDCi Ghia and love it. Yes, it has a very slight hesitation when pulling away in first and cold but it doesn't cause me as much of a problem as some other owners - maybe mine has a slightly newer engine map helping? I also get about 500miles from a full tank and am averaging 42mpg at about 35mph so although not as good as I expected, its a lot better than the ST170 I had before. I do about 400 miles a week on the motorway and then another 150 or piddling about back streets and the congestion that is Liverpool these days. All in all I'm relatively happy with the economy

No mate, in the centre near to the standard round vent thing. Near to the rear view kiddie mirror thing.

I've got an aftermaket kit fitted with the standard Nokia microphone unfortunately. It may be possible to fit this inside the vent on the roof but don't know for sure...

Hopefully it will be something related to the emissions and the Stage IV requirements so nothing major to worry about (other than the annoying delay!) Fingers crossed...

Yeah, the same went for my ST. The part of the disc that the wheel would attach to (called the bells in two-part disc kits) had rusted from storage. The surface rust on the discs themselves can appear in about half an hour - its a good sign as it means the disc have a high iron content and so will offer good braking performance (or so I've read on numerous occaisions.) As mentioned, it disappears once you start driving.

Again, I experienced this with the ST170 (as did other members.) The dealer didn't want to know and there was nothing I could do as it wasn't technically a fault.

Problem is, unless there is any difference between the spec. of the motor you ordered and the one you took delivery of, there is little you can do. In this case, if you can prove you ordered a later model which has different spec. levels to the one you received you may be able to do something about it. Best bet is to speak to Trading Standards or your local CAB. This happened when I ordered my ST170 just over 18 months ago and I ended up with one that had been built about 10 months earlier. I kind of like the subtlety of it. On a kind of linked topic, I was driving in traffic (on the M6 as usual!) behind another C-Max (not a ghia) and it had a lock on the boot. I don't think my Ghia has. Is this a standard thing or am I just being daft?!! I know cars with the full remote central locking don't have barrels in the passneger door either. Does this apply to the tailgate as well?

lol... Made me laugh cos I was the same when I got mine, except I was in a hotel car park (working away at the time) and nipping out every few minutes. Hotel receptionists thought I was mad...

Thanks for the reply... Still not convinced its working properly... If I press auto and set it to LO on the temp I can hear the fan going like mad, but the air isn't actually coming out of anywhere!!

I'm having what I think is a problem with my climate control. I have the all-singing, all-dancing sat-nav system with the dual zone climate control. The problem seems to be that the three butttons on the left of the system (for choosing between windscreen, dash vents and footwell) don't seem to make a difference to where the air comes out! I was under the impression, that if I press the auto button it should automatically control the car's temperature. When I press this button, it turns off all three air control options and it seems that there is hardly any air coming out of any of the v
