  1. thats the way i see it mate, just treat it as though you were looking at a car to buy, ie look for the masking lines they havnt bothered to flat off in the door shuts etc , colour differences across panels and slight overspray on suspension bits etc. I always find that these things show up when your giving the car a good buftying.
  2. before you accept it make sure youre happy with the repairs, take your time to have a good look at what they have done, and make sure its a quality job.
  3. wouldnt make my kid suffer the humiliation of a meriva, can you tell i have a downer on them, i did a bit of research on them for my sister who was looking at one, told her all the probs they had and to steer clear, but despite my advice her husband bought her one, and hence its spent the last year in and out of the garage while they TRY and correct all the problems its got, funnily enough the very problems i told them about, the good side is though, youll experience just how good the focus is, after driving a different car for a while , driving the focus everyday, you tend to become
  4. You really deserve some compensation for having to drive not just a whizzpopper, but a whizzpopper MERIVA, Lets hope they sort your focus ASAP, because there is a good chance the meriva will breakdown  theyre plagued with electrical faults!
  5. Going to change oil and filter this weekend, on my zetec 1.8 HE, whats the easiest way to access the oil filter, obviousley some of the bolts holding the plastic undercover have to come off, but does it have to all come off, I really cant see the FORD "technicians" taking the whole cover off!!!!
  6. Got mine from fords, and when i keeled over at the price he gave me trade, and got them for £28. BUT theyre less than 6 months old and the little yellow warning triangle stickers have appeared, (Where the wipers pivot on the wiper ARM, there is a black sticker, that turns into a yellow warning triangle when the wipers require changing. ) the wipers still work fine mind you so i wont be changing them yet!!!
  7. can never get more than 35 mpg outta my 1.8 HE, its the high final drive ratio box they fit to make it feel more sporty,
  8. From new my 07 focus has had a rattle that sounds somewhere around the pass A pillar or dash area. FORD dealer has had it three times and still not fixed it......ive had the pillar trim off and can see nothing, ive had the glove box out and cant see anything, Has anyone had a rattle in this area and solved it...........The dealer is starting to talk about charging, but will not pay for dodgy FORD build quality, and to top it all all the door seals now start creaking when the bodyshell flexes. Has anyone found a cure for stopping the seals creaking.......... as you can tell this is dr
  9. BUY THEM FROM FORDS MATE.........and get the 4 dont just use the 2 and and also be careful not to scratch the buttons when releasing the clips. As far as i can see you have to release the clips by springing back the latch, on the unit itself when its removed from the dash apeture.
  10. Really easy to do mate, the official ford bits cost about £20 from allen ford parts http://www.ford-shop.com/acatalog/Focus ... o.html#a46 just need the radio removal tools and a 20mm hole cutting into your glove box liner. It just plugs into the back of the 6000 unit, and the socket end into the 20mm hole you need to drill. Fitting instructions come with the kit!! its says fitting instructions for fiesta only, but the only difference is that the focus socket is in the glove box (if you want it to be) and the fiesta is in the console!!
  11. i find my 1.8 HE really shifts on the motorway.....although very high geared and is crying out for a 6th gear. And never gets more than average 34mpg (according to the dash displa). but then again i havnt experienced the TDCI engine. But compared to my old 1.6 zetec se. the 1.8 HE is a much stronger engine
  12. I told him loudly straight away, as soon as he mentioned it.......Its the dealers first line of defence, But i find if you push them a bit harder they usually back down a little. The problem is this, My dealer didnt fix it the first time, so now that hes already billded ford for the time, FORD wont pay him again. So the problem is that he should have fixed it the first time!!! and he will have to pay and not ford. Thats when dealers try to wriggle out of any warranty work! Its a shame really as they have been a good dealer up till now..........Anyway we will se what happens later when we colle
  13. Just has our focus in for a few rattles and the rear hub bolt recall at FORDS. They couldnt find the rattle, so I have said keep the car till you fix it, Then the service manager started showing me a ford document about warranty claims!! it basically says, that from DEC 2007 warranty claims involving adjustments of hinged panels/closures/mechanical parts etc etc will only be valid for 1 MONTH or 1000 miles. so the service manager tried to say fixing my rattle may be chargeable..... So told him that this car had been in before about this rattle and i WONT be paying anything, and also i bought m
  14. As our car was 3 weeks late due to a few admin kangaroo ups. the dealer gave us three years free servicing........i was pretty pleased with that, as its 2nd year service is classed as a major, which if i remember from the MK1 it was about £250. and theres the brake fluid change on top of that...........thats another £50. JAMZ is spot on, your really paying for the stamp. the chap i work with has a HONDA prelude and the servicing at his dealer is a miles ahead of fords, in terms of both aftercare and actual costs. I do have to say though that our FORD dealer isnt as bad as many others i cou
  15. just had our 12k service on the 1.8 petrol done, and TBH all they do is they change the oil and give it a quick coat of looking at, and spray that lovelly white grease over any locks , catches and hinges , and over anything in else in the vicinity.................When you book it in, tell them that it isnt running well and sometimes hesitates ( or some other reason) so that they will plug the OBD computer in to check, and at the same time install the latest version of the ecu program (if there is a later one than yours). thats what they did with mine anyway. Get them to do the body check as we
  16. Very nice mate, ive been thinking of doing mine, full marks to you buddy
  17. wasnt thinking of changing them, just checking them and making sure theyre in good nick.............theyve done 15k so should be fine. as for another make of plugs, i tried loads of different types in my old XR3i, and without doubt always found the genuine ford ones to be the best, but that was on the old CVH 8 valver!!! modern engines may respond better..........thanks for the info though
  18. Im going to check th plugs on my 1,8 duratec HE and, it looks a very straighforward method of getting them out. I say it looks, as i havent actually done anything but had a quick look. it looks to me as though each plug has its own individual coil, so you need to unbolt that and then the i should be able to access the plugs in the usual manner, Am i right or is there more to it...............
  19. anyone got a link of details of this specific TSB...........im guessing my 2007 car should be ok, but id be interested to read it, Im with JAMZ on this. id be asking FORD to at the very least contribute to a big chunk of the cost of the repair!!!!
  20. Never made any noticable difference on my Mk1.5 1600 zetec se. I wouldnt bother unless you are going to mod the airbox to allow for extra intake..........
  21. Gave the focus a clean yesterday and as i cleaned the wheels i looked at the calipers and , as theyre well over a year old now, theyre starting to tarnish and look "not new" and with the car being COLORADO RED, and having the 17" wheels. wondered if it would look good if i got the calipers done by these chaps in the RED finish.......... http://www.biggred.co.uk/contact.html But im unsure as to wether it would look right or not, basically i just want them to look clean, rather than pretending ive had BREMBO's fitted if you get my drift  so what do you chaps reckon. my feeling is it would
  22. Back in the old CVH days, the play you say you DONT have, was a good indication for the good old CVH gearbox bearing problem, But the play you DO have i would imagine is perfectly normal,.....its the one you dont have, you need to watch for..........THATS my humble opinion anyways
  23. Had the radio swapped by FORDS last week as the original one gave up the ghost. But the one they have put in ALWAYS is at VOLUME 4 when its turned on, and its TOO loud. (and its a real annoying pain) The original unit never had this problem. Does anyone know if it can be altered. i have been through all the MENU settings, but cant find any setting to alter this.........aside from this problem when we picked the car up after the radio had been swapped, i immediatley noticed that one of the corners of the plastic fascia had been cracked, as though the unit had been dropped sometime!!!! so were h
