  1. I've just seen a Zetec with adaptive lights and the surround IS black. It looks really smart, as the adaptive lights themselves look like xenons (but dont illuminate as well - obviously)
  2. By the way, I havn't seen any with mismatched panels. Wouldn't blame anyone for rejecting a car if it did though.
  3. Black looks fantastic but its an absolute **** to keep lookin clean. If I was buying one I'd go for Magnum Grey or Jeans. I've got quite a soft spot for Tonic and although Aquarius isn't my taste lots of my customers have gone for it. If you want to protect residual value my advice is go for ANY metallic colour EXCEPT Honour Green.
  4. With no disrespect intended to anyone's choice of colour, I'd avoid colorado red like the plague. It can be difficult to sell on, will go pink in a few years and IMHO only really looks good on ferrari's! I was in Florida last year and I noticed a LOT of white cars - thats one to avoid in the UK as well.
  5. The 1.6TDCi is available as: 90ps stage 4 110ps stage 3 110ps stage 4 From what I know, the shortage lays with the 110ps, engines. It is my understanding that as an emergency short term measure all stock orders have been centrally ammended into 90ps stage 4 to satisfy demand for stage 4 compliance.
  6. Im not a fan of renaults but those windscreens are NOT illegal coz they're not actually tinted. It's designed to absorb UV rays and therefore stop cabin heating up so quickly and therefore giving improved fuel consumption as the air conditioning is used less. It's optional on 2005 foci and cmax as well now by the way.
  7. Am I right in thinking you've ordered this as a brand new car? If so I should blimmin well hope the dealer can say whether it has a solar reflect windshield coz its a £100 option! They have a little logo in corner of windscreen (sorry cant remember which corner or exactly what it looks like  ) so check it has that. If not, you should be paying £100 less for the car.
  8. Salespeople in Ford dealers get independent customer satisfaction surveys. Those of you that have bought a new car in the last few years may know it as the "Viewpoint" questionaire. The percentage of my customers that returned their questionaire as COMPLETELY SATISFIED is 92.2%. Can't please all the people all the time eh?! Anyway, this topic is about adaptive lights not how wonderful I am  Think the last thing I would say on them is that IMO they offer good value for money but as with all optional extra's go for them because it's something you actually want and will benefit from
  9. Depends on who you deal with, but if it was me and a customer was really interested in them but not too sure, I'd arrange a test drive later at night so they could try them out. NB - Not all salesmen will do this!
  10. oh well, mercedes charge extra for just about everything else so I guess thats good if they offer them as standard on a model.
  11. This is entirely down to the individual dealership. I can only speak for Gates of Hertford. If it was here, there is no charge for the 1st £1000, any balance remaining would attract a charge of 2% for Mastercard/Visa and 3% for Amex/Diners Club. If you have funds cleared in your current account you can use a debit card for no charge at all. The reason for the charges is simply that the card companies charge us, and with margins in cars being so thin these days we simply cannot afford to absorb all of them ourselves. My advice for your particular situation is to consult directly with
  12. Badges have been a total nightmare. At my dealership I've had Titanium badges on order since Dec 04 and we're still waiting! Shouldn't be a problem getting hold of Focus badges though, our launch stock arrived with those in the glovebox(!)
  13. But it will have discs all round as you've ordered ESP.
  14. I have to say.... The only people to knock adaptive lights are the one's who havn't tried them. Give it a go before you make your mind up, and if having done that you still don't like them then: 1) Don't order them 2) Get xenon's instead Nice to have a choice though isn't it?
  15. Yes, it's true the citroen DS had something very similar - so not a really a new thing at all!
  16. Where did you get that info? I havn't seen or heard anything about that? I was kinda wonderin if that was something they might do though.
  17. By the way: Adaptive Lights = £250 Xenons = £500 (plus hellishly expensive when the bulb goes)
  18. Yeah, but we don't need cd players (whats wrong with the radio?) or remote locking (why not just put your key in the door?) or ABS brakes (why not learn to drive properly?) or electric windows (you can always go back to winding them yourself). The customers I speak to are generally quite offended if a car doesn't have these features as standard now. At least with the adaptive lights you can justify the extra outlay on an option which does have a genuine safety benefit. As consumers, we're demanding more and more from the products we buy - can't blame the manufacturer's for trying to capi
  19. I personally find the new one a lot more comfortable. There's a much bigger range of adjustment to the driving position, the boot is DEFINITELY bigger and rear visibility is improved owing to the fact that the rear head restraints now recess when not in use. The fake wood in the Ghia interior is not my taste, never has been and never will. Easy solution to that - go for a zetec or titanium! Otherwise I think the interior is great, really well screwed together, plenty of storage space, nice materials and everything where you would expect to find it. Compare it with the Astra - nowhere t
  20. It works just fine - does exactly what it says on the tin. It's also worth bearing in mind that they look like xenons, which IMHO look really cool!
  21. That was shown off at the Beijing motor show a few months ago. It's the Focus saloon (they don't plan to sell the hatch in China apparently). Agree the lights look awesome - don't expect to see them on production versions anytime soon though!
