  1. Hi, does anybody know how long the DVD sat nav unit is covered under warranty by ford? Mines been acting funny on and off. usual problem is, you start the car up, it switches on and just has a blue screen.. so you switch the unit off, and back on again then it loads fine. other problems i have experienced include, buzzing from the passenger side front speaker ~(once), was driving along 1 day with sat nav running, and whole unit powered off, became unresponsive and screen went black.. then it came back on 5 minutes later (once). Incorrect time loading up for 1 ignition cycle, being stuck
  2. I have Nightbreakers all round on mine, sidelights are halogen nightbreakers, dipped and mainbeam, and spots. They are alot whiter and brighter than standard, and I find driving at night alot better with them.. although I keep having problems on hills and stuff.. drivers keep flashing their main beam at me.. presumebly they think ive got main beam on or something even though I dont.
  3. yep, which is why I was worried about the value taking a massive hit from the high mileage. More than what the amount would be if I traded it in, because I do alot of motorway miles so the miles quickly add up. Especially with the new focus supposedly coming out near the end of next year, which will realy make the bottom fall out the prices, and i would of thought more so with a 3 year old car, than a car thats maybe only 18 months old. Which was why the plan was also to keep the mileage down by replacing the car. Was mainly looking at a few 09 plate cars... but as you said previously it
  4. Hi, I am quite a high mileage driver brought the car with 7800 and now im nearing 22k miles, and looking to possibly trade in my car after just 6 months ownership in the new year if I can find an identical or higher spec car with lower mileage. It is a 2008 plate, probably just missed 58 plate. It is a 2.0 TDCi Titanium with 6 Speed Gearbox and DPF. Now, Glasses say the car is still worth just over £13,000 but We Buy any car tried to say my car online is worth a measly £8000 just over... bit of a joke really? What are your oppinions? because I want a rough Idea of what I am likely to get
  5. hi, not sure if that will work as a straight swap, the Xenons have different levelling motors, because the xenons auto level using sensors at the back and front of the car... whereas the motors in the standard unit are just simple stepper motors operated by the variable position switch on the lighting panel inside the car.
  6. same here, was tempted to try it, but dont wanna buy all the powerfold mirrors and find the wirings not there lol. Tezza listed the parts required here, http://ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name=Foru ... c&t=181924 suppose 1 way to find out possibly, would be to get at the mirror multiplug connector and see if theres any spare wires in it not connected to anything.. then go to the switch on the door and again see if theres any spare wires not connected to anything. Even if there is though, would be interesting to know if yet again this is 1 more thing that needs enabling on IDS
  7. depends on how badly chipped the paint is.. some people will say "wouldnt worry about it" and it is arguable whether it does make a difference or not, But it has been argued previously that where the paint chips, if the damage to the paint is quite a large area the spring rusts, and it breaks at that point. just depends on how particular you are about it, other side of the arguement is.. stones get thrown up there anyway and chip the paint.
  8. Ive also had this a few times with the auto wipers.. not after a wash though, have though when ive occasionally used the washer jets though.. system just goes mental and keeps going on its own lol. so as you said have to switch it off. In my case I always thought it might of been just a bit of dirt that got washed up over the sensor area... but in your case if you have just washed the car this cant be the case.
  9. maybe with hindsight I should of ordered from amazon or somewhere lol.
  10. same here:) but only just ordered mine direct from haynes lol so mine will be probably monday now... or tuesday:(
  11. hi, was beggining of this month sometime. lol I went in today to try and pick up mine:) and was told 4-6 weeks before they will get any:S
  12. 1.8 Diesel is ok, but its an old engine design, the 1.6 and 2.0 are alot newer engines... also 2.0 as previously said has the 6 speed gearbox. 1 thing though, dunno about other people who own the 2.0... but its a pretty powerfull engine low down.. and although it is possible most of the time its quite hard to pull away and change gear under 2000 revs.. especially in 1st gear... because you pull away and before you know it your up to speed.. sometimes when ive had to pull away quickly on busy roundabouts even find myself skipping gears.
  13. Hi, read previously on the focus it was possible to retrofit these.. albeit at a hefty expense, and that the holds in the bumpers were all marked up where to cut. Seems though that Ford have had a clean up with the MK2.5 no esp switch wiring:(, and removed my headlamp today to see if dealer supplied correct bulb kit, and had a look around behind the bumper.. and no markings where to cutout:( is there now a different bumper listed for washers? same with the rear bumper and parking sensors retrofit?
  14. :S Grill shape looks the same to me? or am i missing something lol.
  15. Hi, probably does, like on the focus.. just left disabled for some reason, rumour has it that its because there was some kind of bug in the software on the GEM, whereby in an accident when the airbags deploy the autolocking doesnt reliably unlock the doors. 1 person on here I think I read previously had it enabled, then the dealer checked it out with ford why they wasnt given the information on enabling this features.. and ford responded that enabling it will void their warranty for some strange/stupid reason.. so they had to get it disabled again.
  16. Hi, lol, what is the point of this? http://www.worldcarfans.com/10903251814 ... spy-photos its "supposed" to be spy shots, of the new ford focus 2010..thing is though, although the body shape is clearly not going to be the new mk3 focus.. why does ford bother covering it up? I can understand it.. if underneath they have this completely new shape they want to keep secret till launch.. but this shape already exists.. some of us even own it. I initially thought it might of been the american focus, because the keywords say american ford... but then what would be the point of them hiding up a
  17. Thanks, thats a great help:).. lol and solved my problem because i dont have to remove the plastic bezel around the edge... just need to get another pair of removal tools
  18. Hi, nope, definitely cannot see any more holes on the bottom edge of the dvd sat nav.. theres 2 clearly visible along the top edge, but nothing along the bottom.. unless of course they are hidden. So I came to the logical conclusion that, despite the top edge disengaging, the bottom edge must be held in by some screws or something hidden behind the carbon fibre effect trim/bezel. Top edge is definitely free, just the bottom lol. So now ive just been trying to remove that plastic bezel, but I cant even do that so far:S .. dont exactly wanna leave 2 keys jammed in the top either lol im gue
  19. Hi, I have a DVD sat NAV in my car, and I wasnt sure on the exact process of rmeoving the blanking plates, I wanted to see if the loom was there for an ESP switch as I'd read it was. So I got some radio removal keys from a ford dealer, pushed them in.. they released the top of the DVD sat nav but the keys are now stuck in the unit.. so my guess is i now need to remove the bezel around the outside. Does anybody have any ideas on how I do this? because ive tried sliding stuff around the edge to release it.. even a thin screwdriver but its not releasing at all:S.
  20. hi, havent done it myself, but afaik the headlight unit has to come out to change bulbs... havent really had a good poke around that area but from a basic look couldnt find anything that just pops out and reveals the bulb behind it.
  21. nice:) lol, whats the dash like?seen it before on the ford website lol and it looks pretty cool with the ford converse screen. Wonder if they will add some of that stuff to the mk3 focus next year? Steering wheel is alot better than the focus, and they managed to put the handbrake on the correct side lol.
  22. Hi, on the normal focus you can deactivate the ESP system which includes the traction assist for 1 ignition cycle at a time... everything else cannot be disabled as far as i know.
  23. with the facelift LEDs if changing from normal ones, if you get the small bit of wiring loom between the rear light and the grey connector just inside the car.. are any wiring changes required?
  24. bounced with handbrake off.. still there. if it was the handbrake then i would of been worried because i really pulled the handle up to the point of forcing it as far as it would go.. and if it was still not gripping the disk properly then its not holding the car securely which would obviously be cause for concern on any steep hills lol. Least the handbrake is eliminated though, was worth a try:)
