  1. Went with the car I'm afraid. To be honest, after the buyer had been handling it I really felt uncomfortable with touching it anymore. Sort of soiled goods.......
  2. Its the unavoidable trade off. Speed = burn more fuel
  3. Scotty makes a good point. First modification to do.....
  4. Wasn't that the garage that got a restraining order on Scott? He can't go within 50 yards of the premises now. Not sure why, some mention of stalking but I'm not clear on that one. Did someone mention, knob ?
  5. Very nice too. The C-Max always looks good in black Welcome
  6. It wasn't easy though. Lots of light right foot. Driove that way anyway as I see the MPG thing as a challenge. Like a lot of frisky diesels the mpg plummets when you press the accelerator. Only, and I mean only, real problem with the C-MAx 2.0 was that it took ages to recover from a bout of rally driving. Buying a nearly new one I would take it out for an hour or so and, allowing for the "computer says whatever" function, check out the mpg on a variety of road. Even accepting various driving styles a 2.0 should do mid 40s. Great car though and I would buy again
  7. I sold mine due to company car arriving after only 5 months. 2.0 TDCi Zetec. Bought fro m new. Never a sign of a problem and went like stink. Yes the mpg could be better , I was getting 45-47, but overall a comfortable car with a bit more space than a hatchback and good value for money. Downside is you get to meet a bunch of muppets who populate this Forum, who are obsessed by knob pictures and guys in nappies. Not me though, no siree 8)
  8. The curious thing is the more expensive the goods the poorer the cust service. Start with a new house....say no more Next in line car.....ditto The Homebase experience in not unique and most times, Andy's is an example, you shop there again even though they may be a bit more expensive. If only John Lewis sold cars, and houses, as they top any pile for polite, extremely knowledgable well trained staff, and never ever a problem returning something. My sister in law returned a lampshade after 3 years because it discoloured...and got a full fefund. Are you listening Ford dealers?
  9. I know ucsman had some probs with a VW but I have owned 4 in my driving life. All ended up with over 100K on the clocks, 2 petrol in the mid 1990s and 2 TDi estates in recent years. Not one of them went in for anything other than services. Now, VW cars DO have problems and they are not perfect, of course they're not but they, like AUdis are the best built, alongside BMW and Jap , cars around. In recent years, whilst Ford/whizzpopper have improved their build quality others like Merc have gone the opposite way to make more profit. Sadly in the new Passat and Golf VW seem to have made a move in
  10. Indulge me for a moment.... I ran my own company 10 years ago and was dealing with journalists of many flavours who, because they know all the tricks or at least think they do, would threaten to sue at the drop of a hat. I supplied Apple laptops with special photo scanners to transmit pictures to "Fleet Steet". first their gets the commision type of thing. Anyways, most were happy and coped with teh technology, some couldn't. Trick was to tie down the T&Cs so that when they asked for functionality or servces they had not paid for we could offer to help for either ectra cash, free or just
  11. ...by the same token a repair has to last and if it failed within a short period for the same reason a court could consider that it wasn't fixed properly in the first place. In this situation with the well publicised history of EGR problems the C-Max has it might be a tricky case.
  12. No. The new EGR valve is a completely redesigned one and has only just been "announced"
  13. Yep, TomRoms right. Cut/file the lugs at the top and bottom and all fits well. My JVC slotted in a dream after that with a cubby hole underneath as part of the fascia adaptor. Snug as you like
  14. When that was taken it was the equivelent of todays Hi Def TV
  15. ...and you can see from my avatar what happens when you get an unplanned airbag inflation....
  16. I would advise caution around the pillars if you have the airbags. You need to remove the rubber seal and tape to wires to the metal rather than poke them behind the trim. It "could" stop the airbag activating. I'm sure dennis could advise on this
  17. ...if I remember what I had to eat that day....brown is the last colour I would be thinking of.....
  18. As you can see I'm holding the end of each piece in each hand. One quick tug.......whoosh!
  19. You're right, right idea wrong application. Needs a rethink.....
  20. Walk in pour a gallon of fuel on the desk and set fire to it.
  21. I think it was pre camera, it was drawn..... Note very large nappy.......
