  1. Its all relevent Redders. Plus people will be more inclined to help if you arent so fussy about the odd diversion in conversation. The chat about body panels can tell you that its to be expected and it may not mean that a car has had a panel replaced after damage. Its up to you whether you take note of the posts. :)
  2. Thank you very much for that. I think dealer was trying to get us to spend more money sooner. Surely cant be that they didnt know what they were talking about.
  3. call customer services and let them know that dealer has no customer care policy, other than to fob people off with FMC number, and ask them to push for written details of work carried out. I had to ask 3 times before i finally got info on EGR replacement. good luck
  4. hmm. I thought when i bought the car the dealer told me 8/9000 miles and that it had already been done when i bought it at 9000. Great news though. Means i wont have to book it in this week. Ta
  5. Ok silly question (but Im a girly so to be expected) What intervals should servicing be done on a 2.0TDCI. My car has now done almost 18000 miles.
  6. Ask for a full written report ion work carried out on car. If they havnt checked those points then book it in again until they can give you proof that all works ok.
  7. alas, its not quite the same since i sold my CRX  Plus the baby seat in back ruins the effect.
  8. prettiest colours nicest looking stereo How good the mirrors are for doing you make up in (Im sure some of you guys think about this too) Whether we can drive in stilleto heels can people see our undies when getting in and out of car (thats an important one, luckily they can )
  9. Id consider sending a letter to Ford too just to point out what the customer is being told by the dealers. Nothing makes my blood boil more than a dealer who doesnt realise that women drive too and do actually know a bit about cars. (ok Im waiting for you all to make comments :D ) Hope you get them to sort mpg soon, thats an appaling result.
  10. I say check the history of that car. as for the original question. I havnt driven the 1.6 but the 2.0 is a very powerful car compared to my old Peugeot 206CC.
  11. As far as i know the EPB has to be put on and taken off manually when stopping or pulling away. But it does come on when the engine is turned off. (am sure someone will corect me if wrong)
  12. I filled mine up Friday and it said 499 to empty. Took it on a 320 mile trip A11, M11, M25, A3 and then lots of town driving on Isle of wight. Got back last night and it still says i have 170 miles left and 49.9mpg for trip. Not bad considering there was a 'bit' of 70mph+ and lots of 20mph too.
  13. I didnt fill mine up but it read 259 miles at just under half a tank last night. I drove 60 miles and it read 218 miles and was midway between quarter and half full. Im sure than when full it says about 500miles. will try and let you know asap.
  14. Sorry, not interested in car, but is manufacturers warranty only until November this year? Is car a 53 Plate then? Oh and an HPI report from when you bought it (why would you for a 72 mile car) is not worth anything to a buyer now as anything could have happened to car in meantime. Same with RAC report.
  15. the egr valve on my 53 plate 2.0TDCI went at 16000 miles. I bought car as an ex-demo with 8000 miles on it. Im presuming this would mainly be town driving. I use it for town during week, short journeys and do a 60 mile trip on main roads twice a week. It also gets a lot of 300mile trips visiting relatives. I buy my diesel from whichever garage Im near, be it waitrose, Tesco, Jet, BP any really.
  16. Ive got a 2.0tdci ghia and mines currently getting a good average of 45mpg on average speed of 38mph. If i reset it for long motorway journeys then im gettiong 55mpg for a 200 mile journey. GAs Pichacker says get dealer to check software. My wasnt so great until i had a new EGR vavle and upgrade, but even before i was still getting 42mpg.
  17. Id go to another dealer, explain how bad service was with last and see if they are prepared make a guarantee and an offer on another car. The c-max really is a good car, as you say, theyre big, good fuel economy, easy to park and have some good extras if you shop around. Its entirely up to you if you take risk but dont go back to that dealer. Sounds like they probably have a ship-load of dodgy c-maxs
  18. Hmmm both sound like awful cars but they are not a typical representation of a c-max. Yeah a lot of us have had niggles and problems but thats the nature of the board, we post about them. No-one posts every day to say that their car had no problems at all and drove perfectly all day, that would be pretty boring. Im sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. The dealer up north should not have told you that they couldnt deal with the fault if the car was under Ford warranty. I have had the warranty work on mine carried out by a local Ford dealers rather than where i bought it and iv
  19. Mine did exact same thing and yes it did get a new EGR valve. At first the dealer said it wasnt the valve as Id managed to get it revving after starting it about 50 times. But when it did it again the day i got it back from there they agreed it was EGR. All replaced now and working fine. Nicola 2.0TDCI
  20. get a costing from a ford dealer and send copy on to them! then haggle!!
  21. Yep, excact same thing happened to my 2.0tdci. New egr valve was needed. good as new now (touch wood) Nicola 53plate 2.0tdci ghia
  22. Sorry, but you cant just assume things where dealers are concerened. They wont volunteer information that is likely to reduce their sale options. Its a sad fact of life that they just arent upfront with such info. Nicola 53 plate 2.0TDCI ghia
