I have to admit I find my ST extremely quiet to drive, at 80 its quiet as a mouse. I drove my brothers Ghia Estate and found that quiet too. Maybe I have been spoiled?

Fair point, but I always thought if you can afford a Merc why would you choose a diesel one? same for the ST in my humble opinion.

Why would you want one, surely the point of the ST is the power? its not built for economy .....

Strange, when I bought the ST put a grand down as deposit, dealer registered in the week, paid the rest following Saturday. I suppose if I decided I did not want the car, after he had registered I would have kissed good bye to my grand .....

I bought the lights today from Ford I think they were about 3 quid for the pair, fitted them in the Ford car park. Brilliant, they auto dim too !! I am so proud, its not much to many people but for me thats a brilliant thing ! The man at Ford had trouble finding them cause on his database they were not on but he came through with flying colours, this is the part number I used ELB 501 81 AG13465 AA This forum is marvelous !

I alway leave the heating off totally until the engine has reached temp, usually 1.5 miles, then let rip with the heat, which is usually toasty, can't stand circulating semi warm, or cold air while waiting for the real heat

Unfortunately when I went there it had not arrived, so I bought their 5 door ST 3 instead, which I pick up on Saturday, fate really !

Found exactly what I am after on a garage web site, but the strange thing is this. Its a Ford Direct used car, but it was registered in July 2005, but has only 13 miles on it. Its 2K cheaper than the normal list price of the car I wanted from brand new. Is this a normal thing,or has it been stood for months in a compound, in the weather doing nothing? What would people think about it? Is it a good deal or would the car be trouble, or maybe I am totally wrong, and its been in a showroom? I don't buy cars often ! Last one was 6 years ago, so any advice would be gratefully received. Man

ST is desireable there no doubt about that, but with the 6 K saved on having the Ghia over the ST, I would be able to take the family to Florida, if there was no family it would ST all the way, but such is life, family is an anagram for compromise !

I really want an ST, but think I will settle for the Ghia, however the more I read the forum, the more I think I will stick with what I have got People had problems with the tie rods. 2 guys wash their Diesel Focus and then it won't start Cam belt tensioners seem to go at 75K The ST seems to have a whole set of problems of its own There must be people out there who's cars are not all bad and people like the Focus? I live in cambridgshire , and within about 30 miles there are 6 different Ford franchises. In the ST search of recent, I have visited them all. Of them 4 had ST cars in the show rooms,ready for sale. Only 1 said thay were sold. I may be wrong but I think that there are ST's out there, but the normal car visitor to the dealership, probably does not want such a beast of a car. The demand is for people who are focus people, wanting their car from order with extra bits on that don't come as normal ST 2 or 3.
