  1. Hello, Mine is June 05 and it has one - v handy for keeping small change and is hidden from anyone looking in. It seems to be rubber and just slides in and out. It's probably worth about 20p, but no doubt Ford will charge you a bit more + VAT! I don't know if this insert is just common on the Ghia.
  2. Mine has the deactivation button just above the inside door handle on the driver side. It deactivates the interior alarm for 1 engine cycle. Mine is a Ghia - I did not realise it was a Thatcham Cat 1 so thanks for the advice.
  3. Must be the rain. It is dry today and the remote locking works fine. Thanks for the replies guys.
  4. Definitely nothing jammed. I made sure. Also the boot would not open on it's own either.
  5. I returned home last night and the car just wouldn't lock with the remote key. Also wouldn't work with the spare. I had to manually lock the car, but the alarm kept going off and I couldn't mute it as the remote wouldn't work. I got in and drove the car round the block and I think this must have sorted it out as it worked ok. It rained very heavily last night. Could it have been this - ie. bad atmospherics, or could it be the airwaves were jammed for some particular reason (afraid I'm not v technical on this kind of stuff!)
  6. I too had this problem. Took 3 attempts to change the time. I found that changing the time with the keys in the ignition with them turned to II should mean that the clock stays set when the time is entered?
  7. Thanks for this. Was it easy to fix? Don't want to sound thick, but what is a rubber cable sleeve?
  8. I was on the motorway last weekend, running the car at about 70mph into a reasonably strong headwind. There was a horrible sound of rattling/vibrating which seemed to be coming from the outside on the passenger side. I don't think it was the wiper as I flicked the wipers on and the noise was still there. I doubt if it is the trim from the windscreen, as I have since checked it and it is all in tact and secure. Could it have been the wing mirror? I'm not too sure if it was that, but it sounded horrible whatever it was. The noise only lasted for a few minutes and I've only experienced
  9. Mine is Spanish and it does not rattle! Also it doesn't have the colour matching problems experienced elsewhere!
  10. I wouldn't worry. You haven't damaged your car as in the manual it says that other oils such as 10/40 can be used, but will result in longer cranking periods. As the 10/40 oil is thicker it might take a while to lubricate all your engine bits, but as long as you don't thrash it when cold you will be ok. You may find it needs topping up more as it is thicker it will prob burn off quicker. Interestingly I was told by my Ford dealer that 10/40 oil won't do any harm as long as it is a branded make like Castrol or Mobil for instance.
  11. The Air Con comes on automatically when you set the dial to the windscreen position. From then on, the air con stays on no matter where you point it to. The Air Con comes on automatically and needs to be manually switched off each time unless you tweak the cable at the back (see other calls on this forum). Even though the Air Con comes on automatically, it does not work at 4 degrees or below so you will have to keep switching it off. Having said this, the manual says use the air con for 30 mins every month to keep it running ok and to keep bacteria down inside.
  12. Mine happens when I get out the car and into the house, have a wee and then as soon as I touch the tap - ZAP! Glad it only zaps when I touch the tap - lol.
  13. My TiVCT 1.6 Ghia goes like the clappers. I love it. Definitely you have done the right thing. Mine is very stable, has great revs at high speed and some good stuff like auto dim rear view mirror, auto headlights and wipers. I hope you will enjoy it.
  14. Cheers ecveryone! I had a look last night and I do have a hook on the inside of the cap! I just hadn't noticed it at all !!
  15. OK - so who else is annoyed by the petrol cap insert thing that hangs down and rubs your paintwork each time you fill up? Also why does every fuel pump fit the car perfectly apart from the ones at my BP garage which are for ever cutting off, presumably because they go in too far?
  16. Yeah probably am using the water too much. It's no worse than my Mark I though. I also dig the Volvo lid on the bottle!
  17. Hee hee - I've had my car 5 weeks and filled the washer bottle 3 times already!
  18. Green Focus Ghia I do sympathise with you. I have had two Mark I Foci and currently drive the Mark II TiVCT 1.6 Ghia which I bought 8 months old. I'm sure your replacement Focus will be good. Like everything there are bad cars, but the majority of Foci are superb.
  19. My Mark I 1.6 petrol did this too. Never bothered to find out what it was - just assumed it was the engine cooling down.
  20. I owned a Mark I LX and it was great. I'm sure the Mark II will be even better. The LX is "What Car's" Best Buy for the Mark II Focus.
  21. Has anyone noticed that if you use the back window washer a small amount of water escapes from the two front windscreen washers?
  22. Can anyone please check and tell me if the bottom heating element strip on their back window is straight or not? Mine moves up and down like a curly phone cord or something - should it be straight like all the others? It's the element near the wiper.
  23. I recently bought a nearly new Mk II Focus in Machine Silver. Thanks to all the people who have highlighted this matching problem I particularly mentioned to the sales guy (Ford Dealer) that I wanted a car that matched. He looked at me and didn't believe me - even though there was an acid orange ST in the showroom WITH THAT VERY PROBLEM ON IT, also a Tonic Zetec with mis-matching coded bumpers. The only car there that matched was a Zetec Climate in a dark red (not sure what the colour is, almost maroon). The car I got was Machine Silver ghia and it matched. It is made in Spain not German
