The only positive thing I can see is that you went to Liverpool and didn't have it nicked!........although it sounds like that might have helped. :wink: Seriously, it seems you have been given loads of excuses and remedies but the problems persist. If you have only had it less than a month then the garage should be embarrassed and exchange it but if only it was that simple. Usually once they have your money they don't want to know.   4. I use an FM Transmitter for my ipod with the standard 6000 Head Unit I picked it up in Netto of all places for £6.99. There are loads comparable on ebay The clarity does for me.
  5. Apologies on everyone's behalf for the lack of replies. I think it must be as we have seen the EGR problem so many times! I am not surprised that you are getting no joy from a call centre, it is easy to fob people off down the phone. Back to the problem at hand, from what you have said, I reckon your best bet would be to refer back to that visit you made to the Dealer before your warranty ran out. I've always hated jacking the car up since one collapsed on me years ago.(Not actually on me but collapsed nonetheless) I have got a trolley jack but I'm too scared to use that as well :oops: although I would like to take the wheels off once in a while for a proper clean. Could anyone confirm, perhaps with a photo, exactly where is the best / safest place for the trolley jack?
  7. Thanks for all the comments / advice. To be honest my rears weren't as bad as the fronts but the guy showed me the "wear bars"?? to demonstrate and I pretended to know what they were! I would have got a bit more out of the rears but thought I may as well do the lot altogether. It always feels like you are getting ripped off or it is dead money spent as you don't see anything for it but in hindsight anything that helps with the safety of you and others is the main thing. Was dismayed today to learn that all my original (on from new) Continental tyres needed replacing on my 2.0tdci ghia as they are all worn to the legal limit. :x I have only done just under 14,000 "routine" miles. I only went in for a £10 puncture repair and came out £250 down the pan I opted for the cheapest available at £60 per corner, especially if the top of the range are only going to last that long!   9. The 2.0 tdci has the same mirror. I have never noticed a light on it and have just been out to have a look out of curiosity. :o As long as it works as it should, as does mine, I'm sure all is ok.
  10. Thanks Barry.......without the know how to access the pump myself I can only really take their word for it in good faith. Logically, if the pump had gone altogether then I can only assume that it still wouldn't be working now. Whatever remedy they have come up with has done the trick but for how long remains to be seen. With previous EGR valve troubles I have no doubt that other suspect parts are lurking elsewhere. At least the washers are minor in comparison........but still no less irritating. I'll post again if they go on the blink.
  11. Had the car into the Dealers today to investigate the problem and they diagnosed a blocked filter. They apparently stripped and cleaned it and in fairness it is working like new now. Nevertheless, I have only had the car less than 18 months so why did it become blocked in the first place? Should I just expect it to block again in the same space of time? I only use "standard" screen washer fluid (whatever standard is). Of course, the blocked filter is not under warranty so maybe it would have been better if the pump had gone. Ah well, you can't have everything in one week......good ol
  12. Over the last few weeks I have noticed the windscreen washer jets getting lower and lower on the windscreen as if their power is getting less and less. Yesterday, there was just a half hearted squirt which didn't even make the windscreen and the rear washer has gone the same way. The sound of the washer motor / pump can still be heard which sounds normal and the washer resevoir is full. Would anybody know of a similar problem or a simple solution to this or does it sound like I need a new pump? Am I right in thinking that the pump / washer resevoir is somewhere behind the wheel arch an
  13. Hello John When I was looking for a C-Max in late 2005 I wanted an Ultima (I think I liked the wheels!!) but only saw very few for sale, mainly on ebay for some reason. I haven't seen any on sale anywhere since. To be honest I think they are just a glorified ghia and you can pick up ghias with the extra bits if you want them. I have heard others on here recommend Matlock Ford http://www.matlockford.co.uk/ in Derbyshire and they sometimes have a selection of C-Max's loaded with extras. I have a 2.0 TDCI Ghia (55 reg) Of the top of my head I think the business of Fords having to program for the immobiliser has happened over the last few years so it would probably cover your year too but don't take that as gospel. If you do get a key the best way to find out would be having a go yourself by following the instructions in the owners manual. However, you might see that the instructions in there only really relate to the locking and unlocking of the car. It's one of those familiar dilemas where you think you could probably get away with not having a second key then by sods law
  15. I have bought a key off ebay in the past without any problem. All you are usually getting is a remote fob and an uncut blank key at a fraction of the price from Fords. You don't need to supply any details about your car. However, the catch is that you can have the key cut yourself and program the remote to open the doors but Fords now have to get involved to program it to get past the immobiliser. I now have a key which will open and shut the car but won't start it. It is a "third" key so I am not too bothered at the moment. Next time I have a service I may try and slip the matter in as a
  16. I would have to say that sounds like the classic EGR Valve problem. I was under warranty with my 55 plate 2.0tdci ghia so was "lucky" in that respect. Hope you get it resolved.

  18. Well, the newly modified EGR valve has been fitted and the latest TSB (or CD, whatever it is called) has been installed today. The result, having driven 40 miles this evening, is that it is like a different car. Maybe some of it is in my mind but the power and response seems dramatically improved. Hats off to my local dealers at least (Peoples in Speke, Liverpool) where in my experience I have always had good service. Fingers crossed that the EGR problems will be a thing of the past but I will obviously post again if it all goes horribly wrong again. Overall, on the downside I have had
  19. Well, some progress. It has finally been recognised that one of the newly modified EGR valves is required and it (and a gasket) are on the way and it is due for install next Monday. Going back to the Watchdog point there was a load of postings on this forum about this subject earlier this year and I am not sure that someone might have actually tried to take things further but with no success.   20. I thought I had seen the back of the EGR problems in May when I allegedly had a newly modified valve installed. However over the last month the same old symptons have returned. In my case (2.0tdci ghia - 55 plate) it is always just in first gear, trying to move off and it can be at random after I start up the car from either cold or warm. It was in a week last Monday at the dealers (the 3rd such visit) and the same old frustrating replies.......no fault codes showing , it was fine for us when we drove it etc etc. I was told that the latest TSB was installed.....disc 42?   22. Scott, I did consider it, I was that cheesed off! However, a new day and I cracked it (not the wiper) For the record the ingredients were............a hacksaw Followed by: 163 "F*** Offs" 19 "Bol**cks" 9 "kinells" 2 Neighbours asking what I was doing (one asked if I had locked the key inside the boot!) Then after an hour one big "YES" as it came off A minute later, a smile as the new wiper arm went on. The moral of the story is that if I can do it then anyone can.   23. I was all set to do this "5 minute" upgrade today....... Bought the arm and blade from Citroen...........no problem. Unscrewed and removed the retaining washer and nut to remove the old arm, expecting it to just fall off but the bleeding thing won't shift or come off. It is almost as if it is too tight for the thread it fits on and as though it has been forced into position. No end of gentle prising, WD40 or the usual expletives would move it even a fraction. :x I managed to stop short of that Laurel & Hardy moment when I smash the rear screen!   24. Almost had an answer there............not wishing to involve myself in the general crossing of opinions, could somebody please just clear up for me what "TSB" means as in: "take my C-Max to Fords for the new EGR Valve and say that I would like the current tsb doing" :lol:
