  1. Sorry Craig m8 for not replying. Please don't feel i've been ignoring you. :drinking: :drinking:
  2. I too find my maxi a bit noisy when cold, but only takes a couple of minutes motoring to quieten down. One thing I did notice is Shell Optimax makes the motor appear quieter when cold for some reason. I put in a tankfull of Total the other day and noticed the difference immediately next morning. Give it 12 months and you won't even notice it. Have you not got a button on the dash somewhere to turn the front parking sensors off? Maybe worth checking as to whether you have a "Ford" fitted setup or one of the many ideas of retro fitting a number of dealers have been trying to palm off on their
  3. :P :P :P Won't believe you unless you show us photo of petrol receipt and photo of mileage covered for that fill up  Anyone here actually believe what their console computer tells them? Its not like Ford would put something in their motor to paint a bad picture of itself!
  4. Another Maxi owner here with same problem. I also had the chattering relays etc. Everything else like lights seemed fine just no broombroom :( Not a good thing for a new car to be doing - especially for a women on her own or with kids that could end up getting stranded. Ford NEED to get on top of this one. Checked the battery and my cheapo tester said it was ok  Rang garage and they suggested putting battery on charge overnight. Next time i'll get my multimeter on the battery and see what it says. Would be interesting to know at what level the threshold is before the car is programmed
  5. thanks pichacker, Yeah, the pjb could be the bit that tips the balance on feasability and cost :( Thats where the tongue in cheek and hope of a bit of help from the dealer will come into play ;) Will pop up a post with further details when this all gets sorted. Warm regards, Chris
  6. Sounds promising :) I remember when I had my Toad alarm done it took 3 hours so I would presume even if they have to make up some of the wiring should not take longer than this? I'm guessing that the wheel is going to be £250. Stalk? Is there a button on there to disable the CC like the VW CC on our Passat? £50 should cover this? Wiring and associated fittings £20 Labour @ £80/hour? :( I just hope the wiring is all there then 1 hour hopefully will cover it all :) Then there's the PJB - This I have no idea how much will cost. Think i'll take a trip to the dealer and have another chat with them
  7. Sounds like your radio has already been doctored. Might be worth you ringing "Ford Customer Relations Centre" and let them know the problem your having and ask them if they can pass it on to "Ford Technical" for you.
  8. Hi Marco1, Wish you all the best with your motor. It always makes me smile just how easy to drive the Maxi is compared to other cars. The big Diesel maxi certainly takes a lot of stress out of motoring :) If we were to replace ours with something else I reckon we'd have to spend hell of a lot more money to get the same satisfaction in driving :( Watch out for the wheelspin with cold tyres m8.
  9. Had mine done yesterday - 12500 mile service for £137. Skipton Ford, West Yorkshire if anyone is looking for recommendations for servicing. They keep me happy if that is anything to go by
  10. Hi Aluns, Have you had your radio reprogrammed to removed the RDS functionality that was supposed to fix the time problems this radio was having? Perhaps there were other fixes in the ROM upgrade that may help you too?
  11. Hello again, steamvalve - Talking to the guy at the desk we came to the conclusion that probably ~£500 including all parts and labour. This is only a guesstimate though, so will find out later next week after they've priced it for me. I'm curious why your VW would cost so much? My old mans Passat appears like its just a different stalk and wheel and I would guess that the procedure would be similar to the CMax? Perhaps they were fobbing you off? TDCIGHIA - I thought there might be a button on the dash somewhere to disable it? I did notice our Passat has a button to disable it if you want.
  12. Had another look at getting Cruise Control retro fitted today and had a chat with my dealer. Conclusion was that I would need new PJB (primary junction box), new steering wheel and button for dash along with WDS menu setup. Problem envisaged though is whether the cars that had the lesser PJB had a different wiring loom to the more advanced PJB of the higher spec cars (mine is a Zetec with footwell light holders being present). To go further with this I really need to find out whether all the 2004.25 motors have the same loom or not, and whether all the wiring will be present in light of the ab
  13. I agree with you JonJen - It always sobers you when you drive the petrol courtesy car while the maxi's being serviced. TDCIGHIA - Hehe, nice to see you take it light heartidly  Its a shame the maxi doesn't have realtime mpg like our Passat. Going down a hill with no throttle the mpg goes into the hundreds then goes off the scale. Seriously though it is a great tool to train yourself to drive economically :)
  14. tdBBci - Sorry to hear your not happy with the mpg of your motor  You could always do what I do:- Just remind yourself that your getting nigh on 10mpg more than you would in a petrol motor of similar size and performance if driven enthusiastically. I looked at one point of getting a 2 Litre Petrol Mondeo - Similar performance I would guess but after doing some research it was looking like 28mpg was the norm for that motor with the kind of motoring I do :( Your 38 mpg I can get even if leathering the car everywhere  If you went steady and did more long distance motoring ~45 m
  15. Thanks Tim, One thing I have discovered about my car after the 12+ months visiting this forum is if you leave well alone and take a break makes the problems much easier to bear. Hehe, FFOC insighting worry between people and their motors  I'll be out everyday keeping an eye on that damn clock now
  16. Hi mgm14grand, When we got our 2.0 TDCi CMax we also bought a new Passat PD130. We've done 5500 miles in the Maxi and just short of 3000 miles in the Passat and the mpg is almost the same for both cars. I won't bore you with the figures as you probably know reading on here what the Maxi should do. Maybe it is a bit unfair to compare the 2.0 TDCi maxi to the PD90? Perhaps someone with a manual 1.6 TDCi Maxi will be able to give you a better comparison? Having nearly bought a pug 90 bhp diesel a while back I felt the lower output did lack the whoosh, eeeeek, torquesteer you get with the Maxi 2
  17. All done and dusted 8) Don't know what they did but feels snappy again which will keep me happy for a while :D Last week I thought I had broken down one morning as when I went to start the car was greeted with the console going crazy with the sound of a thousand relays chattering away but no starting just blank LCD and lots of flashing of warning lights. I thought my console cluster had gone to the land of the fairys  In the end discovered thanks to my helpful local dealer that it was probably just the battery that was a bit drained. It wasn't flat but seems that the CMax's electrics
  18. Hello again everyone, Sorry for not replying sooner. I'm in a bit of a rush so will reply individually this evening. My car went in today for its annual service and have asked them to try and sort out my flat power delivery problem. Being unable to shake off friends cars that previously I had no problem is a bit worrying as to whats wrong with my Maxi :( I want my torque steer back! :x Laters guys :D
  19. Thanks Nick, Now i'm even more confused, LOL! When I looked at my cars readout of software level it showed two different readouts - one was for non volatile ram plus something else. Both these were 422. Do you know which one is stating the drive train rom level? Please excuse my ignorance with terminology
  20. My car currently has Rom 422 which I had done last year to fix the flat spot in the power delivery (2.0 TDCi). The latest 424 sounds like it is only incremental? Does anyone know what it fixes? If anyone has come across anywhere that lists the changes or fixes for each version be grateful for the heads up. My car definiately feels less resposive with the 422 Rom update compared to its earlier installs so am wondering if the 424 has anything to offer? Last time I had my Rom updated I had to have a new console cluster fitted due to error in programming so am loath to have update done again if
  21. Its been a while since i've read the cars manual but I seem to remember there was a programming procedure that allowed you to change the number of presses required for rear boot release between 2 & 1 presses. Perhaps the release has been reprogrammed at some point? If it opens with one press should be simple enough to reprogram to two presses I would have thought.
  22. Hi DougS, Have you tried holding the stalk button in while turning the ignition on to get to the diagnostics and then rather than playing with the settings just carrying straight on to start up the car? I wonder if after doing this you may be able read the fuel flow? I noticed scrolling through the console pages with the rotary that there was one for fuel flow.
  23. Thanks for the Rom level info JonJen. I thought the latest was 422 so will ask about them updating that when I pop in to book the service. I was going to book it in on the phone but if I go in person will give me chance so see if I can talk to someone on this. Will give me a chance to take my custom elsewhere if they won't offer help :D Having read some of the other posts on here regarding the personalities it looks like it only displays the one that is in operation and allows you to scroll through the others, but alas you cannot change these from the console, only view them :( I'm wondering i
  24. I thought it was just the 6000 radio/cd that was afflicted but alas your Sony too! I'll see how I get on with my current dealer and see what they say first as you suggest. One thing that had me wondering is that somewhere in this forum there has been talk about different things being seen in the diagnostic computer display, and one of these included a setting for "personalities" of which there are 4 modes. I saw this in this thread - http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53861 When my car had its Rom updated they had a problem programming the console cluster which resulted in it having t
  25. Cheers Tim, You have more confidence than me in dealerships. I was wondering if maybe I could glean something from having a play with the diagnostic options on the console computer? I noticed on there you could read off realtime fuel flow amongst other things and wondered if these could be read off while driving to give a clue as what may be wrong? Which radio do you have? Mine is the Ford 6000. Be interested to know if Ford have any idea when they intend to finalise a fix for this.
