  1. The compressor (the device that compresses the refrigerant gasses) requires quite a large amount of torque to do its work. Larger engines and diesel engines produce inherently high amounts of torque, and thus the effect of an extra load such as a compressor is less that on a small petrol engine which produces small amounts of torque. There endith the first lesson!!
  2. Air con dries the air out so will demist the front screen very quickly if set this way, Ford making life easier for the driver by taking the option away of turning it on yourself!!
  3. I`ve fitted the pioneer F900bt to miy mk2 Titanium, See http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... highlight= for a list of items I used (towards the bottom of this thread), got the stereo stalk working a treat and the sound through the Ford speakers is fab, Just added the Ipod lead to it now also!!
  4. You'll need the aformentioned Facia adaptor, Cutting of the orignal ford facia is required as there are 4 lugs that the factory fit unit sits on. You'll also need a ford to ISO cable adaptor, A steering remote unit and a pioneer adaptor for that. also an aerial adaptor and dont forget keys to remove the original stereio!! 5. There is a facia adaptor for the Focus "Rounded stereo" you will also need a Focus to ISO adaptor also A Remote unit adaptor unit (That plugs into your steering stalk) and a lead for the required Head unit you are using. Also needed is an antenna adaptor as the ford one is different to standard!! I recently fitted a Pioneer AVIC-F900BT and got all the stalk working just fine. I'll put on here the list of bits used this evening (in work at moment). When I get a chance I'll write a how too.
  6. Could it be down to that the Mk1's used a Cable from pedal to the throttle body where opening of the Throttle body would be instantaineous. The Mk2's use a fly by wire system, where a sensor (potentiometer i guess) measures the pedals position (do some fancy electronics and software I dare say) and when you blip the pedal it has to drive open elecronically a motor mechanism (servo or Stepper motor). You'll have to wait a split second for the elctronics to do their bit and the motor mechanism to open. Probably talking a load of crap but I've convinced myself!! Have a look under the bonn
  7. You`ll need to dremel the opening for the sterio as there are 4 lugs that the factory fit sterio sits on. Sitting shouldn`t be a problem. Got one of those Adaptors for sale if anyone interested?!?
  8. I hope to do a how to shortly on changing a head unit for double din. Just put a Pioneer Avic-F900BT in mine. Looks the bees knees!!

  11. Update!! Went into Halfrauds today to Purchase a 900BT and was told, "Ah I'll check the stock", then after 10 mins "Err, we dont have any stock here, and there`s no stock in any other local shops and err! there no stock at head office?" I Questioned Why!?! "I'll just phone head office" where I had "ah right you got some there! A week tuesday?!? Ok!" side of the conversation. She went on to explain "We've missed this weeks audio shipment deadline and if you purchase one know we can get it here for a Week Tuesday" 10 days time!!! Mmmm I thought to myself out lowd, "What its going to wal

  13. No trouble taking mine out using the correct keys, I fitted a Nokia Bluetooth Handsfree kit behind mine so no worries there. Woth for others to bear in mind though!

  15. use an adaptor donovan to install the unit?
  16. I`m thinking of getting rid of the 6 disk Sony head unit fitted to the Titanium and fitting a Pioneer AVIC-F900BT. Halfords are selling them for £799!! Can`t find anything close on T'internet. What do people think?
  17. On the 1.8 Zetec the ICV is mounted on the Inlet manifold on the inside. I know (as I`ve seen in the past) the 1.4 and 1.6 zetecs have their ICV mounted on the outside of the inlet manifold. on the Right hand side of the engine. Its a seperate unit to the Throttle body, about the diameter of an old 50pence peice 60mm Long.
  18. What Engine you got Todge? Might be your ICV (common fault) sticking, at the lower load of standard idle, but ok whilst Aircon running due to the higher loading on the engine. Try some carb cleaner through it,I did my old 1.8 last year. Take the air feed off to the throttle body from the air box and there`s a small port that feeds the ICV, Bollok a load of carb cleaner down there to clean it and give it a few minutes to evaporate off. Put back together and turn the car over. Alternatively remove the ICV (Can be awkward to get off though) and give it a clean with the carb cleaner, or repl
  19. Nope, Plastic bag!!
  20. Just a quick one! I left my Drivers window open all weekend   and that lovely weather we had has slightly dampened my electrics. Luckily all thats currently affected is my electric mirrors want to turn to the left. I've given it a blast with WD40 and been driving with full heat and air con on to dry the car out, but the mirrors are still doing the same thing. I've been trying to get the switch assembly out to dry and clean it but I cant see how it comes out. I`ve taken the lower part of the door handly assembly off but cant see how the switch assembly comes out. Anyon
  21. It actually causes revs to hang a little higher, this is for smoother changes down etc. they`ve been fitted to most focus`s, irelevant of age and engine.
