  1. That would be the same changer you can order with the SatNavs (or the 5000C) ... what's there to probe?? This was over a year ago when the C-Max was still quite young, and a lot of the dealers didn't appreciate that the 6000CD in the C-Max wasn't different in that respect. OK?
  2. After much probing, my dealer found a model number for a 6-disc changer for my C-Max which uses the same system. So apaprently, it does exist, but I never ordered one in the end so I only have his word for it.
  3. Try looking over on the C-Max forum, the electrics are basically the same as the 2005 Focus. It seems it is possible to activate it, but the dealer has to set an option using the WDS first before you can do it. Some are willing to do this, others aren't. The procedure for modifying the keyfob to one press for drivers door, two presses for all 4 doors is over ther too.
  4. There was I driving along today in my 1.6TDCi and up pops a message, together with red light and boing, saying "Brake Light Fault". I can't remember if I was braking at the time or not, but I assumed it was being nice to me and warning that maybe one of the brake ligths had failed. So I acknowledged that one, and straigt away up popped another one that said (I'm not quite sure of this one) "Motor Management Fault" (could have been Engine instead of Motor). This sounded more serious, but I just acknowledged this one too, and carried on driving with no apparent problems. We were only a few hundr
  5. Just click through to the temperature reading and hold the button in until the reading changes to celsius, a matter of a couple of seconds or so,
  6. Nope, sorry, it was a Lupo (not a Polo as I had incorrectly remembered) and it's a 3 cylinder 1.2 diesel, not the 1.4. They don't sell it in the UK, but here's a link to a VW Germany web pagedescribing it http://tinyurl.com/9n7av.
  7. VW have made a Polo (diesel, I believe) that supposedly does 3 l/100km, so it's certainly achievable. There's nothing miraculous about 45 mpg BTW, believe me.
  8. Hmmm .. just tried that and all it did was reset the trip counter.
  9. I have an '04 car here (with dual mph and km/h speedo) in Ireland, and although I can change the fuel consumption, temp readout and distance to empty to metric in one go, both the odometer and the trip meter stay stubbornly in miles! Does anyone know whether these can be converted also, or is this a WDS thing only?
  10. Very interesting ... anyone here care to comment on how that might have been possible? Anyway, it doesn't really bother me too much ... there's only one station here that transmits RDS time, and a) I never listen to it, b) they usually take two weeks or more to realise that it's summer time / winter time again :(
  11. Spilling chequers don't catch everything though :)
  12. What's the big deal about belt minders? They don't kick in until 5mph or so, so they're not constantly boinging away when you've just got in and switch the ignition on before putting the belt on' like some of the ones in US cars do. Some people seem to be incapable of reversing with a seatbelt on, for some reason best known to themselves, but even then you're probably not going to be going over 5mph anyway, at least not for very long. So, what's the problem?
  13. 8) Hi. If anyone does know how to turn off this blasted noise please tell, it is driving me mad????? T. 8) 8) 8) Easy, put your seatbelt on :)
  14. I'd be worried myself that the god-awful beam pattern from the C-Max's headlights would be made even worse by the addition of anything covering them. Unless you've got xenon's that is? BTW, anyone know if there's any chance of getting any kind of non-xenon projector style lights for the C-Max like those that Hella make for the standard Focus? I had something similar on my old Primera and loved them.
  15. Could I ask why? I find it pretty useful mself.
  16. Just open the door with the key, and the boot unlocks.
  17. No, I didn't mean that, I meant the boot keyhole that was the original subject of this thread :)
  18. Just as a matter of interest, where is it located when there is one fitted?
  19. Mine's a Zetec, so bang goes that theory :)
  20. Mine's an early '04 and it hasn't got one, unless they've hidden it really well :)
  21. I have a 1.6 TDCi C-MAX, and get around 45 mpg most of the time on short trips. On longer trips, if (and that's a big IF) I can control my speed I can easily manage 52 mpg. By that I mean keeping at, or around, 70 mph on the motorway. Get up to 80 or above and it all goes to pieces. That having been said, I've just returned from a 800+ mile return journey up to Scotland with motorway speeds regularly in 3 figures, and rarely under 70 on the faster A roads, and still got 41.6 mpg!
  22. See http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/overs ... pment.html. They say a fire extuingisher is only recommended, whatever that might mean, for Germany. On the other hand, they also say a First Aid kit is only recommended, whereas I seem to remember from living there that it was compulsory, so the information might not be as accurate as you think
  23. Yep, the steel wheels on my Zetec have 205/55 16" rubber ... plenty grippy enough for me :) Between my wife and myself, we've also trashed two alloys (on previous cars) and had countless punctures since moving here. On the other hand I've run into bricks on the M6 and broken the sump on an errant rock on a Megane Scenic hire car in the Yorkshire Dales.
