  1. It will be the handbreak. Bounce the car with it off and see if it makes the noise.
  2. It wont be as cheap to run, but thats a much nicer car than you had ordered (IMHO). Not sure how the value is affected by it being second hand, but then it is quite a rare car and I imagine an easy one for the dealer to sell. Can you get an estate version of those? If so that would make a cracking replacement for my 1.8 TDCI Zetec!
  3. Your not using car washes are you? Sounds like they need to do a proper job on it rather than a quick wash and a wipe over with polish.
  4. On the right hand side toward the tailgate end. You can maybe put your hand in the side compartment to have a quick look?...
  5. I would also be interested to know this. Possibly you could run an extension lead from the one in the boot?....
  6. Saw that ages ago in auto express. Looks OK I guess, but I dont really see the point.
  7. In reality you probably want to change brakes prior to the light coming on for metal on metal contact! I dont see why it wouldn't have that warning light as I've had really old cars that did that. The brakes may well differ between the petrol and diesels as I think some of the petrol's come with rear drums.
  8. I wouldn't bother. They are there to protect from car park door dings. If you never park in a car park go for it. ;-)
  9. Just plug the bulbs in mate. No wiring required. What bulbs are most folk using? Wouldn't mind either brighter or perhaps a slight bit of colour.
  10. Its probably worth about £4500 to the dealer. It could be mint condition, but if its modified it restricts who they can sell it to. In fact its probably worth less than it would be standard. If you sold it yourself then £5k seems pretty realistic. Also you will find many used car buyers have a £5k budget (its the most popular price point). Personally I'd try to sell it for something like £5395 and see how you get on.
  11. Anyone else had this? Mine tends to creep out and stick up above the car in an arch. Makes a right howl on the motorway. Not quite sure what to stick it back in with....
  12. I pulled my badges off a few weeks ago when we had that heatwave. Just used my fingers, but did have to scrub the residue off afterwards. I wouldn't put boiling water anywhere near it myself. It might damage something - not least you! Perhaps just hold a sponge soaked in warm water over it for a minute or so. Basically whatever you can think of to warm the glue.
  13. Checked last night and my car does have them. Chucked in some old amber side repeater bulbs for now just to check everything works fine. Must admit its not the type of bulb holder etc I was expecting. I think it would be covered up or more like a normal interior light. For anyone else looking you will see a grey plug. Looks like it might be to hold some trim in place, but if you put your hand up behind it you should be able to feel the wiring going to it. In which case you are in business. 8)
  14. Had a feel around under the dash and in the footwell, but cant find anything in my 55 plate TDCi Zetec. Mind you my underdash jobby has fallen off so there was a lot to get my grubby hands on!
  15. In the mk2's the screen inbetween the dials is used on the auto models to display which gear you are in.
  16. I took all the badges off the rear of my car. They look lame and I honestly dont feel the need to tell other people what model I own. You wouldn't put a sign up outside your house saying how many bedrooms it has to show off to the neighbours so why do it with your car?!
  17. Is it your first car? Seriously though thats normal.
  18. We found that at the weekend - however the 17" zetec wheels will take a 215/50/R17 tyre so thats what we've had fitted and I have 100% confidence with the Vredesteins in the wet  Would 215/45/17 not have been more suitable on the 17's? I think the rolling radius would be more like it should be and they are also a cheaper size.....
  19. I thought the NCT5's were old tyres these days and had been replaced by a newer model? I've used them on several cars before and they are fine anyway. They are £72 fitted for the latest Goodyears at my local tyre place. I like the Conti's, but they do seem a bit soft. The wife also found that they rag up easily on kerb's!
