My 2005 started needing money spending once it got to 120k. I think the Focus has decent built quality. Every bit as good as a VW (although thats not saying much these days!). Obviously its not up to Corolla standards, but then would you want to drive one of those?.... Something that will wear with age is the rear axle bushes. Thats a big expensive job. I didn't get any knocks or anything when they went. In fact if you didn't drive the car hard you wouldn't notice. Mine was wagging its tail something shocking with spirited driving! :lol:

I have read that they are good. How was the power as a 1.6 sounds like it might be a bit sluggish in such a big car?

No they dont fidget. Check your tyre pressures as maybe they are over inflated. The handling of my Focus went wayward this year and it turned out to be the rear axle bushes had split. That shouldn't happen at 15k miles though. The Zetec does have a firm ride (like hot hatch firm). The Ghia/LX/Sport is a better bet for most people to be honest.

Its funny to think someone would pay all that extra money to have the kit fitted to a base model that doesn't have any colour coding! :?

Mine sometimes feels funny as well. Especially at low speed. We have also seen a warning light come on once and no steering. I suspect tracking. I know mine pulls to the left a little bit. Oh and you could also try changing the mode - mind you I always leave me steering set to sport!

Oh well at least mine doesn't make a noise!

Am I the only one that doesn't like the bright red warning light glowing on the dash all the time at the moment?! I keep catching a glance and thinking I have an engine warning light on! Maybe if it just stayed amber all the time that would be better.

Do you mean around the edge where there are no heated elements?

I know my mates BMW has lights in the C posts. His is an old E46 so should be easy enough to come by from a scrap yard. No details of the Kuga one sorry. I was reading a review in a car mag (where it beat the Tiguan and new X1 :D ) and they mentioned that it was a £75 optional extra. It looked like it was fitted within the centre console/armrest area. I'm really interested in the rear light, because I have 2 young children and you cant see in the dark to get the child seat straps on. I managed to bid on the wrong interior light for mine on eBay and ended up with a mk1 Focus map readin

How much was the sunglasses holder? Instead of the rear reading lights could you not have fitted a Ford rear light in to the headlining? Another idea might have been to use the 240v socket from the Kuga rather than put that white one in.

With regards the wind noise - make sure the rubber trim around your windscreen is in properly as this can work its way loose and create wind noise.

Popped it out and it measured up as 42mm so I have ordered a 6 LED (white not blue!) from eBay. Worth a shot at £1.39 anyway.

I'd like to order a brighter LED one. I assume to take it apart I just put a flat blade screwdriver in and force the cover off?.... Thanks

You can adjust the rubber stops if that helps maybe? They will just screw in and out to adjust the depth. Might put a little more tension on.

Yeah I would say only do it if you need an estate as they never did an ST estate. :lol:

They are OK, but I'd maybe try and get a standard set off a Zetec model for a lot less money. I hate angel eyes, sorry - why would you want a Ford to look like a BMW? Not a fan of all these LED's popping up everywhere in headlights. Still we are in the age of bling and its only going to get worse before it gets better! :lol:

I wouldn't worry about it - its hardly going to drain your battery. Not worth the fuel to the dealer and being without your car for a day. Just leave it until the next service.

I assume you are just looking through the window after 2 hours as obviously if you unlock the car the display will come on.

Really? It looked the same to me, but with fancier seat covers on the style/zetec models.... Oh and a different radio.

The 1.6 was OK in the mk1 Focus (slow, but nippy around town and good for 40mpg), but its surely going to struggle in the mk2.5? My mk2 1.8 TDCI is slow and it must have loads more torque than a 1.6. I reckon you are looking at first car type performance (1.2 corsa/clio etc) which sounds terrible to me. Still on the positive side your brakes will last forever and as its a Focus you wont need to slow down for the corners. 8)

Mind me asking how much you guys are paying for brand new cars? Seems like everyone on here is buying from the main dealer. Can they match the car supermarkets for prices. For example a 1.8 TDCI Titanium was £12,750 at the car supermarket which seems very reasonable.

I wouldn't bother with a panel filter. I'd only get an induction kit for the noise as I doubt it would give a BHP increase.
