  1. The guy I'm taking mine to reckoned he could do the side and rear bumper mouldings in situ. But I'd have to replace the fog lamp and tailgate mouldings as they are too fiddly to sand down to a good enough finish.
  2. I'm gonna get mine done in a few weeks The advice I was given by an independent body shop was that he could sand down the door mouldings, rear bumper moulding and the top part of the fog lights but the main fog surround and tailgate trim would need to be bought pre-primed as they are too fiddly to sand down to a high enough standard. The advice the ford body shop gave me was to replace all the mouldings with new ones! Typical! I'm not going to get the lower lip of the bumpers done as they'll just get chipped and also thinking of getting a body kit so these will be removed anyway.
  3. About 2 days after I bought mine it developed a squeak from the rear of the car. After weeks of hunting I discovered it was caused by the latch for the folding rear seats. A bit of gaffa tape around the bar part of the latch made the fit much better and stoped the squeak. I also have rattles in both front doors (I don't have rear ones to worry about). I've been meaning to remove the door cards for ages to sort them out. They rattle in time to my music - annoys the hell out of me
  4. Looking good Craig, Would definately recommend colour coding - there's a panther black round my way with this and it looks great. Gonna be getting mine colour coded soon hopefully and toying with the idea of an MS Design spoiler too (which I'm pretty sure is a straight swap), then when/if I get the money the full MS body kit :D
  5. Damien, yes all the parts are primed already and I'm sure I could probably fit them... although I've not yet looked into how I remove the tailgate moulding that houses the boot release. It's the painting I'm not too confident about!! Mikey, it's Ink Blue
  6. Ah, sorry, I misunderstood - A lot of body kits simply attach to the current bumper without you having to replace anything. As for what you are asking I would imagine it will just be a straight swap but can't be certain.
  7. Yeah, I asked last week but no replies yet! Just wanted a general idea of what others have paid...
  8. Just been to my local Polar Ford for an estimate to get all the black plastic trim (excluding spoiler) colour coded. Parts (primed trim, paint etc) - £132 Labour (2 days) - £260 ex-VAT Cost of parts seems pretty reasonable but would it be cheaper just buying the parts from Ford then getting someone else to paint/fit them? Cheers guys! Ewan
  9. The spoiler is a straight swap, but I've a feeling that to get the ST bodykit you have to replace your bumpers too as things like the fog light surrounds are different Ewan
  10. Mikey, The buttons on my zetec climate are laid out as you describe: L to R Blank, Heated Front, Heated Rear, Blank I've also replied to your other post. Ewan
  11. MS design for me too Thinking of getting one too - just have to persuade myself that I can afford it!
  12. Here you go mate Sorry for the dodgy photography in places - my camera phone doesn't like bright lights! Night: Day (just now... in the rain... the things I do for you lot ) They actually look pretty yellowish in daylight but there is a noticable blue tint at night. Though obviously if it was dark you'd have your headlights on and unless they are blue (which mine aren't, they're white) the sidelights will be drowned out completely! Hope this helps Craig.
  13. Nice lookin unit there - expensive tho. I'm sure you could get a carputer to do all of that and more for much less! Seems odd that an HU designed to integrate with pretty much everything doesn't actually integrate with steering wheel stalk controls :? Ewan
  14. Turns out taking pics of really bright lights with a camera phone isn't very easy  Really hard getting the photos to look anything like the lights do in real life! But here is my opinion of them anyway. Main beam - Philips visionplus +%50 H1. Dipped beam - Osram Silverstar +%50 H7 Both auto express award winners, white light and way brighter + clearer than the stock bulbs. Very impressed with these. Side lights - Osram Cool Blue W5W The blue looks ok when I've only got my sidelights on but are totally swamped when I've got the above headlamps on. These would be more suitable if you h
  15. Sunny, I got the osram silverstar H7 +50s and the difference is outstanding compared to the stock bulbs. Can't comment on the others tho. H7s are your dipped headlights, not sidelights. I have a set of VisionPlus H1s and they are white, not yellow or blue! Was hoping to get some pics up for you all but it's been lashing it down all weekend here. Will take some pics when it stops raining. Ewan
  16. Unbelievable service from powerbulbs! Ordered new bulbs at 3pm yesterday... postie knocked on the door at 10am this morning! I didn't even pay the extra fiver for next day delivery! Bulbs were really easy to fit - was gonna do an faq with pics etc but tbh the manual does a good enough job. I had all 4 light clusters off and 4 pairs of new bulbs installed in well under an hour. Here is a pic of the philips silvervision indicator bulbs - make a big difference to the rear light cluster. Not a hint of orange in sight. Will get some more pics up tonight when it gets dark.
  17. will get some up as soon as they arrive!
  18. All this talk of bulbs has persuaded me to get some! Just dropped £50 on mains, dipped and indicators and got blue vision sidelights for free from powerbulbs. Free delivery too and just got an email from them with a 10% off voucher! Quality! Joel, The different versions are basically the different fitments and power ratings. Page 158 onwards of ur manual tells you which bulbs to use... Fr/Rr Indicator - PY21 Main Beam - H1 Dipped Beam - H7 Side Lights - 501 (W5W) Fr Fogs - H8 Breaks, Rr Fogs, Reverse - P21
  19. I get the reverse gear thing too. If the car is cold I find that if I put it into first before reverse it goes in much smoother. No other problems tho.
  20. Don't think I have that option on my Zetec Climate. Sounds fun tho :D What options do you get?
  21. Same here - i have a 1.6 ti-vct and the mpg is rubbish. Even when I'm being careful (rare) I only get about 33mpg.
  22. i find if you reset your average mpg it will fluctuate quite a lot for the first few hundred miles or so... untill the average settles down I guess  If you hold the reset button in for a few secs while you start the car up it goes into test mode where you can find instant mpg (among other things)
  23. Not a clue I'm affraid  I would guess they have a standard iso connector, but can't be 100%
  24. I want some headlights with "mascara" like the Audi R8 has! The headlight units have some LED detailing along their bottom edge. Was featured on 5th gear last night - awesome looking car! http://www.km77.com/marcas/audi/2007/r8/gama/med/98.jpg
  25. The higher spec models of Mk2 have adjustable pedals - you might be able to get these fitted as an aftersales option. I am not sure how they work tho as I don't have them on my car but I assume you can adjust them like adjusting your steering wheel or seat position (as opposed to having them done by a garage). I am sure there are people on here with these fitted who can elaborate.
