  1. Hello leighwilbraham, welcome to the C-Max section of the FFOC. I don't have the DVD player so I don't know if what you ask is possible. I'm sure someone will help soon, but from memory I don't know any regulars who have such kit fitted, although several have Ghia models. vitrocmax
  2. That's a good piece of writing, dan2e2! I wish I could describe my owner experiences as eloquently. I know the words, but usually use too many or get them in the wrong order :? Also good is the price you paid. I'm not sure that the C-Max is going to hold it's value any better than other Fords, but it's probably as good as any other MPV. It appears you are happy with it, and I certainly am with mine. :D vitrocmax
  3. There is a transponder in every key, and it needs programming. I'm sure there is a way using the existing keys and a switching sequence to teach a new one, but the TIS has a simple sentence that strikes fear in us all; 'Additional keys can be programmed by the dealer using WDS' Note that it says 'can' and not 'must'; there may be an alternative (but I haven't found it yet)
  4. 2 days later and I'm the first to add to your thread, mgm14grand. Some people prefer to have a moan and forget the good points  I agree, you can get a lot of stuff in the back. We usually travel around with just the two of us, but when we want to take anyone else there's never a problem with what to take, just pack it all in and then wonder how you ever managed without it. I have a Fiesta at the moment while mine's in for warranty work (9 days and counting...) and the one thing I would praise is the gentle ping for lights on or door open, etc., instead of that rather irritating coa
  5. How about this idea...? If the calculation is done based on fuel level in the tank, the dynamic level when you are moving will be different to the static level. When the computer checks the level at switching on it might get a different result. Having said that, my wife's fiesta does the opposite - the fuel level drops when the car is moving. So maybe it's something else... I remember a program that mentioned some Peugeot models suffering from some electrical interference that added miles on to the odometer when a door was opened and the interior light came on. Is that another way it cou
  6. Not me - 0:00 every time (or 12:00 if I play with the setting and put it to 12 hr clock) But that might get fixed this week when they take it in for some warranty work.
  7. Mine goes in to Benfield York Road (Leeds) tomorrow (14th) and I didn't exactly hit it off with the service guy on Friday when I took the list of 'items to be fixed' in for them to look at. It wasn't booked in for warranty work, but the courtesy car was allocated. :? The list is one I started when I got the car, and I've added comments on faults that are fixed, those that are not fixed and those that are new (from the first time it went in, in May). He asked 'What do you want us to look at?' as though the list was just a fun thing. I'll reveal how it goes when I get it back. It's
  8. So you can wipe the noise off from the negatives because it's fixed, and all you have is seat staining? My positives; All yours except for quiet Diesel engine - mine's petrol so it's quiet anyway :) Negatives? The dealer. OK I know there's a list of things to do but it's booked in for Monday and I'll have a Fiesta to drive around in... vitrocmax
  9. You wouldn't be thinking of mine, would you, Chris? I think I may have mentioned them before... I never turn the front ones on. I asked for them because my wife is quite a small person and can't see much even if she pumps the seat up (it's a Zetec so I don't have switch to do that) but as she rarely drives the C-Max I don't even know if they will ever be used. Now I would like to turn the back ones off but they've wired them in to the brake light circuit. :x As for the noise, I do notice the air conditioning pump if it's on, but there again it's not really aircon weather at
  10. ...and it's not on the 2004 TIS... Er, should I admit to knowing that?
  11. I'd expect a C-Max owner's guide with a C-Max!
  12. I think it's been discussed before, RTV but as far as I know the Mondeo uses Ford's own engine and the C-Max is the first Ford use of a 'combined venture' engine built in conjunction with Peugeot/Citroen. If I find the link I'll post it up. Mine's a 1.8 petrol so I've not researched the Diesel. vitrocmax
  13. I haven't tried the focus so I can't comment on better or worse but after a couple of hours drive I find the seats comfortable, and with the high driving position the C-Max is good for a long journey... I agree; I don't like them, either. vitrocmax
  14. Hi, Tricky and welcome to the C-Max section of the ffoc forum. Where in the manual have you read about disabling the chime? I don't recall seeing it and don't remember any option offered. Mine's a 1.8 Zetec, so maybe we don't have it on ours - but I would be happy to shut it up for most of the times it tells me the obvious, like it's cold outside! vitrocmax
  15. Hi Chris. I've spoken to my dealer about getting some issues fixed, including the clock. I mentioned that I thought it my have something to do with switching the radio on manually with the ignition off and was told that they have had 'a couple' of faulty clocks, but no suggestion what was done with them. :? Now the car is almost a year old, it's loosened up nicely at 6500 miles, but it still can't match the Diesel on performance. vitrocmax
  16. I've got Michelin pilot primacy on my 1.8 Zetec. I don't think much of them but I'll let them wear out before I decide what to use next, which may be sooner than I expected. I would describe their performance as 'entertaining' because it varies so much I don't always know what's coming next. I've mentioned elsewhere about the flat spot on startup, and if I try a quick start I get loads of wheelspin. I've also found that if I floor it at the roundabout at the entrance to the estate where I live I can let my wife know to put the kettle on. With them squealing and fighting for grip, it also mak
  17. Thanks for that, I hadn't noticed that conditional '1 year' bit. I had planned to let them do some trim bits when I take it in for it's first annual service - I'll get it looked at before then just in case!
  18. That amount of oil reminds me of my old PT Cruiser! I haven't seen a noticeable drop in level on the dipstick, and I've done 6.5k from new in about 11 months. One thing I did notice is that if you check the level by looking at the dipstick it appears low, but if you wipe it clean and dip it again (which you should) the level is usually higher. Could it be that by thinking it's low and adding more, you could be then using up the overfill somehow? (I don't know if it would, but it sounds to me like it could).
  19. Mine's just started to do it... :x The car's just coming up to it's first year on the road (at the end of Feb). It was built in August 03, and I don't know if the dealer fits the blades on delivery. So it'll go on the list.
  20. It may be that the wiring exists but not the socket, Mark. However we have noticed before that the LX has a lower spec wiring loom (it doesn't have the footwell light connectors from the Ghia that the Zetec has, for example) but Ford are changing build specifications all the time and I think you might be un;ucky on this one. I'll try find out which connector the socket is wired to (unless someone else can help?) and let you know.
  21. Hi MK, I'm sure you will be happy with a C-Max whatever model you choose. orei has described the car well, I would put exactly the same. Great car, some minor faults that I can live with. :D As for if it's worth buying, then I would ask the same question of any car. I like the high driving position and that's what I wanted most because I find the car easy to get in and out of. When it comes around to changing in a couple of years I might have a different opinion depending on what it's still worth then. Enjoy your drive, whatever you choose. vitrocmax
  22. I haven't, yet. Although I can open the tailgate with a double press of the remote when the key's in and the engine is running. vitrocmax
  23. Hi Jakx. If the NEW Focus repeaters are like this (and I haven't looked) then the Ford part number is 4593010, and they were £1.82 + VAT each last year. They fit straight in, but you will need orange bulbs. If they aren't, then I haven't a clue.
  24. I think that no reply in a week suggests that it's only you, Ken K :( A dealer visit seems to be needed... I like the fact that I can give the back window a quick wipe while I'm in reverse, using the single wipe flick of the switch, is a useful option to moving the switch to put the rear wiper on and back to off again. :)
