  1. Vitro, which some rumours suggest is being discontinued, has a mind of it's own. Some days it is green(ish) while most of the time it tends towards blue/silver/grey. It doesn't show the dirt much either. And I like it whatever the colour, so does my wife.
  2. Hi Dazzy, I'll echo disney's welcome to our C-Max section. Mine is also a 1.8 Zetec, but I'm 5PS down on yours. :( Can someone remind me what PS is? I can only remember when we called it HP :? Colour? I started a thread for picture posts herewith a search for as many colours as we could find between us, but it's stalled at the moment. Feel free to add yours. And enjoy the ride! :D
  3. So is using a mobile while driving... I'll leave it at that.
  4. I found thisa while ago and thought I might try it sometime. But not yet...
  5. Thanks again for the vote. I have previously responded to a PM and the main contention is that I'm currently only a forum member. Unless I pay my subs I can only watch from the sidelines. I don't want to use it as an excuse for not taking on the responsibility, but it's the reason I've not acted before now. As I understand it there are moves to make the site a members only operation, if that happens I really won't have a reason, unless I choose not to join. However my views on a members only forum are such that I would not normally expect to have to pay for access to public debate. That
  6. Mark, with reference to your post (in another thread) about transmission devices being illegal, could I point out that the use of the Ford TIS is covered by licensing regulations, and that copied CDs sold on sites such as eBay are also illegal. You might get away with 'personal use' but I have stopped posting pictures and copied content from the TIS, just in case somebody decides to take action. Oops, just admitted to haveing done it...
  7. Well found, Gavin. Have you a link to share? Or are you going to be an unpaid development engineer and trial it first? vitrocmax
  8. Beware! You cannot presume anything! All your concerns (presumably generated by comments here?) should be written down and shown to the dealer either as you place the order or before you collect the car. Any comments by him should be noted. That way you have something in place before things go wrong, just in case they do. You may be lucky and get a good car, but there's always a chance of a problem, and it's better to be prepared. I have suggested that because my problem was with the dealer, but I'm getting over it. If it's written down it's there to see. vitrocmax
  9. You don't need the TIS, it's in the handbook. The rear quarter cover (with the seatbelt through it) pulls off (it's a bit tight) and there's a plastic wingnut to remove. The lower plastic wingnut is behind a cover in the lower panel. The sounder will fit behind the cover with a sticky pad, you'll be able to hear it OK. The wiring is to a PCB with the lamp sockets on it, you should be able to identify the correct one easily. If you remove the 'cubby hole' lid there's a cutout round the seatbelt mechanism, you should be able to thread the parts through it (I think the dealer did, at least
  10. Thanks for the drink, Chris. Now I'm on form, here's another interesting quote from Ford, this time on the 'all new Focus'-. "Sights, sounds and textures all play their part in delivering the new range's interior refinements." :? So maybe they have created random sounds, like 'creaking dash' and 'wind noise', and they are all playing their part? full text here
  11. An idea for testing the wind noise theories; If you carefully tape all the seams around the driver's door, then clamber in from the passenger side, you could drive the car with all the seals covered. Then you'll see if the noise has gone, remove pieces until it gets noisy again and you've found the problem! :) If it's still there when it's all taped up, it must be somewhere else. :? Couldn't the dealer do that?
  12. My response is similar, with the addition that since I'm a Saga target it's easier to get in and out of, with the higher seating position. vitrocmax
  13. Aren't Ford the best when it comes to information? A new engine, and it's relegated to the depths of the specifications for us to find! I suppose if anybody has already got a C-Max they wouldn't change it just for the new engine. Would they? I also suppose they are keeping it quiet until they have cleared the stocks of the existing engine. I regularly check the accessories section to see if they have updated it to include the C-Max, and have also sent email to ask if they can put the information there. No response yet...
  14. I've had a day off from my PC so this answer may be late. The sensor cables are all bundled together through a bushed hole at the left side under the bumper, above the exhaust. They then go through a grommet into the rear left under the side trim. This picture is from underneath, looking up (the exhaust is on the left) The power wiring is taken from the reversing light in the light cluster, and the control box is dangled behind the panel, below the cubby hole (on the left hand side).
  15. The conclusion we arrived at earlier here appears to be correct, only the 'normal' Focus has this as an end user procedure. Maybe they could do it as a freebie? :) or maybe not... :x
  16. Sorry, I forgot to mention that the fusebox connection is for the front ones which have their own switch (as shown in one of my first postings here ) The rear ones are connected to the reversing lights. I read from your first question that you didn't want to rip all the panels out. To fit the unit in the factory fit position you have to - if you read the 'how to' on the TIS you will find that even the rear seat belts have to come out! For some reason my TIS refuses to play if I start it after IE so I'll have to look after I've read today's posts.
  17. Chris, I've read your comment about Honest John's claim about ECU failure being a known issue. I've also read some of his other claims. It's a bit OT so I've started another discussion. vitrocmax
  18. Hi Chris, If you want to fit X-Vision sensors I can give you full details of where to fix it, where to connect it to and how they work. Courtesy of my dealer :x The dealer fitted them in the reversing light circuit so they work automatically. Shame I can't switch them off, as they don't tell me any more than my own eyes. They are so sensitive the full bleep starts at a foot away, so I tend to ignore the sensors and us my judgement. If I leave the front ones on they sense cars passing at a T junction! If you click on the C91 box on the TIS it should jump to a 'best view' drawing.
  19. I agree it's not worth £30, I thinks that's more than the big Pug wiper that fits the standard Focus. I thought the price I was quoted (£25) was high enough, but then they added VAT! I haven't reached the 'super league' of stainless trim yet, or changing the radio. 8) As for bigger visual impact, I had thought of chrome washer jets...
  20. I only fitted it last night, and it hasn't rained yet... The difference is minimal on the overall length. I was looking for one a couple of centimetres longer but have settled for one centimetre shorter. As Renault (and others) say, size matters  but in this instance I don't think it does. The shorter blade is over the blacked out part of the screen for most of it's travel, so I don't expect to notice a change there. vitrocmax
  21. The 'no expense spared' modifications continue... After the 50p I spent on footwell lighting, and the £6 or so for the clear side repeaters, I have had to save for a long time for my latest. I have always thought that the back wiper was a cr@p money saver, and I've been looking at other rears to see which might be a good replacement, bearing in mind the very limited size of the arm/blade. I noticed the new Megane hatchback (ugly car, nice back end  ) and set to with a tape measure. It's almost the same overall length, but the blade is a bit shorter. And it costs a fortune! H
  22. another thread hijack... I sometimes read disney's posts several times before I understand what's going on (no offence, Craig  ) and I probably spend an excessive amount of time checking my posts before sending them. I didn't look at any other cars before choosing my C-Max - it was purely an impulse buy. It had the features I wanted at a price I was happy with. :D Apart from the dealer issues that have been documented before I'm happy with the car, the only down side :? is that I'm using it much more than I expected, and might need to tell the insurance compan
  23. I'm being pedantic here, but shouldn't that read 'not all C-Max's are a bag of sh*te!' because some, apparently, are.
  24. Regarding Bluetooth, I noticed a Yahoo! cars page announcing details of the new Focus, which has goodies that we don't such as Bluetooth, heat reflecting windscreen and keyless entry. Maybe the dealer is confused by this release? They do seem easily confused, telling us tales all the time
